1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ✅[NEW][ICO] 🚀EtherSpin Casino 🚀 ⭐ Bet with Any Cryptocurrency ⭐ 🔥 Bounty 🔥✅ on: March 11, 2018, 12:39:36 AM
Does Etherspin run on top of Ethereum? How would it be possible to bet with coins that are not a standard ERC20 token?

Great question! For ERC-20 tokens, we will handle it directly on the Ethereum blockchain through smart contracts. The implementation of non ERC-20 coin bets will be handled by watching incoming bets, passing that data directly to our smart contract which then will involve requesting a random number as we did before, and logging the bet event (with proof and result) to the blockchain for records. Then, our server will distribute the winnings accordingly. As a result, the bet process will be partially off-chain. However, the random number generation and proof remains the same - retaining the advantage of provable fairness in EtherSpin's platform. Users can still verify the authenticity of the bet by viewing the bet event details through a block explorer.

Thank you for that interesting answer, but there is another question I would like to ask in regards to your response. If the distribution for winnings from off-chain bets happens via your servers, does that also mean that part of the process is centralized?
Great point! Many cryptocurrencies do not support smart contracts like Ethereum does. As a result, we are able to decentralize the important aspects of gambling. Without smart contracts however, many cryptocurrencies lack the same functionality smart contract-based cryptocurrencies allow.

In other words: in it's final version it is mostly decentralized or completely decentralized? I hope I don't get on your nerves, I just want to understand your setup in full. I personally am a strong believer in decentralization in regards to almost any aspect of life.

No problem! The goal is full decentralization of the platform. There are upcoming advancements and improvements being made in coins that will allow cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin to be added with full decentralization. See here: https://altcointoday.com/lightning-network-developer-is-bringing-smart-contracts-to-bitcoin/

The technology advancement is moving towards decentralisation more and more. I think Etherspin will really be benefiting the community for having a Smart contracts and decentralised platform!

We're happy to see such wonderful feedback! We're reaching out to find quality campaign managers for our project as well. Pass us a message if you're interested in joining EtherSpin!

The online gambling industry is very huge, allowing to bet with any cryptocurrency is a very outstanding idea.
Good luck!

The Bitcoin and crypto gambling industry is huge. But how many tokens will be released in the sale? Any airdrop programs? Hopefully we can get a good deal on them.  Grin

Hi! Our whitepaper details all of the token information available. There will be a good deal for early investors, but we won't heavily discount the tokens since we are serious about the project.

Unlike other ICOs, we are capping supply in our ICO with one round because we're serious about the project and investors. No more tokens will be created or distributed after. A token lockup will also be in place.

The online gambling industry is extremely huge, research says the size of the industry is over 40 billion. I would like to hear your thought about the gambling community, because online gambling needs to attract a lot of user base and provide stability, as the online gambling industry is so humongous, how does EtherSpin stand out in the gambling scene?

Dude! Online gambling grows so fast, Its a strong competition against real life casino!

So are you launching on kucoin and binance? You have deals in place with them?

Hi there! We will accept Binance's coins (BNB) for bets.

It's an ERC-20 compliant token, and we will be able to allow players to play with these tokens through Ethereum's smart contracts. We're also working on exchange listings as the ICO continues.

Good stuff, I think the idea is doable!

Alright I assumed exchange listings, misunderstanding Smiley
I'll watch the developments.

I think what they're doing is similar to an EtherDelta exchange project, but for gambling. EtherDelta was quite successful.
Watching the development here too. I know some gambling sites are already quite big like PrimeDice.

That's a great comparison! Although ForkDelta is the new EtherDelta according to the community Wink

We are launching the first universal decentralized gambling platform for all tokens and coins.

Very interesting! This could be the next EtherDelta! I hope your guys' future UI will look better though. EtherDelta is kind of confusing to navigate. Overall, nice project so far.

Cryptos are blessed to have Binance.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Is trading just educated guessing? on: May 24, 2017, 09:38:52 PM
Trading is just being able to recognize that the price is likely to go up and down and placing bets in anticipation of your prediction. if your prediction is right, you make money, if it isn't, you lose. Most people use technical analysis to predict prices.
7  Economy / Economics / Re: Difference of Trading and Investing? on: May 24, 2017, 09:27:40 PM
Investing and trading are two very different methods of attempting to profit in the financial markets. The goal of investing is to gradually build wealth over an extended period of time through the buying and holding of a portfolio of stocks, baskets of stocks, mutual funds, bonds and other investment instruments.

Trading, on the other hand, involves the more frequent buying and selling of stock, commodities, currency pairs or other instruments, with the goal of generating returns that outperform buy-and-hold investing.

I hope it can push past 2500 with force so that there wont be a huge dump and prices will keep going up. Im bullish for bitcoin for the next year for sure.
9  Economy / Economics / Re: Do You Think Bitcoin Will Replace Dollar Soon? on: May 12, 2017, 12:52:51 AM
bitcoin will never replace the dollar. Why? the government will never allow it to. If governments feel threatened by bitcoin, they will push it into a blackmarket currency, to protect their own currencies.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to explain bitcoin to teenagers or children on: May 11, 2017, 04:19:24 AM
I would compare bitcoins to a currency in a videogame that they play, except you can use it to buy things in real life. the price of the currency is determined by demand and supply just like how videogame currency prices are determined by demand and supply of people playing the videogame.
11  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin can not replace fiat on: May 11, 2017, 12:45:48 AM
Bitcoin will not be able replace fiat for now because of several factors. Among them are unstable bitcoin exchange rates and international laws protecting bitcoins dont' yet.

Yes there are a lot of factors that bitcoin really can't be considered for replacing fiat. Even the price is getting higher and higher nowadays still that is not going to matter because in the end the government is the one that will be followed and law makers are coming from the. But let's see one day we will be having paperless transactions.
It's not about the price but on the adoption, fiat is adopted by all people in the world and even users of bitcoin is using it regularly, with the success of bitcoin will just make the transaction faster and will also increase the circulation of fiat, it's like fiat to bitcoin and then bitcoin back to fiat so at the end of the day all bitcoins will be converted to fiat in order to enjoy its value.

bitcoins value will be derived from how many people use it. when the user base of bitcoin becomes large enough, its conversion price to fiat currency will naturally stabilize and we wont see any crazy price swings like we did in the past

There is not a single chance of that

At least, not until instant, ping-time payment become available, and Bitcoin turns into a sort of "bad" money ("bad" money here refers to Gresham's Law obviously), though even in that case it is not given, either. Till then Bitcoin will remain mostly a speculative asset, and such assets can calm down only at zero level. There is simply no mechanism in place that would justify Bitcoin use for anything other than speculation on a large scale. And this is not going to change until and unless Bitcoin paradigm changes (e.g. due to introduction of payment channels with fast and free transactions)

Good point. Instantanous payment is definitely essential for price stability. Bitcoin and any sort of cryptocurrency would be unprecedented "bad" money as they do not have any intrinsic value to begin with.

13  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Will Reach $3000 By The End Of The Year on: May 09, 2017, 12:53:00 AM
We were 1000 Jan 1 we battled through China and their views on bitcoin, Bitcoin Unlimited, fears of a fork, and in 5 months gained 700. Japan is now fully on board, soon russia. 2000 is within reach I would place a target of 2,500 by end of year!

I think 2000 is a conservative estimate for btc. Japan approving bitcoin will set a precedent for other countries to follow suite. Bitcoin will become popularized as more and more countries adopt it.
14  Other / Politics & Society / Re: North Korean ultimate weapon against Trump on: April 28, 2017, 08:48:09 AM
Kim Jong Un can secretly deploy agents with bombs in the US and threat to explode buildings owned by Trump. I don't think Trump will risk all his wealth in favor of political ambitions.
Wouldn't the US have security to defend against these agents with bombs?

Would you kill your own children if God commanded you to?
A perfectly valid legit question.

Please no attempts to derail the thread with nonsense like "God would never say that" or "God would never change the rules with murder" etc....

That's strange though, why would God do that? It depends on the consequences obviously. You need to mention that.
16  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump is better than Obama? on: April 28, 2017, 08:18:25 AM
We can't rely on a single person - president or not - to help us with our lives. It's mostly up to us to change ourselves. But Trump does seem to be putting himself out there, which is a good thing which will strengthen the nation.
17  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Japan is one of the leaders in the world in number of suicides. on: April 28, 2017, 07:52:31 AM
Japan is one of the leaders in the world by quantity of suicides among adults and among children. I don't understand why. I've never been in this country, but I think that it is a very beautiful and technologically developed country. I think it interesting to live. Does anyone know why this happens?
Looks like that's what happens when a culture gets very bureaucratic and homogeneous. It's sad to see, but people will follow other people like sheep. That's why we need Bitcoin.
18  Economy / Economics / Re: The dream of getting rich with bitcoins on: April 12, 2017, 09:05:22 PM
yes it is all the dreams of those who want to be rich like where do I get rich?

I can be rich together bitcoin because I am sure, and you can, too.

Maybe not with bitcoin anymore, but there are many altcoins which has big expectations with low marketcap. It is really possible to be rich thanks to altcoins.

But ultimately it will give you bitcoins in return so if you can make good profits with altcoin then it will surely help you in becoming rich in future as altcoin market is unpredictable and its price can pump beyond our imagination and if we invest in it at a right time then it can give us huge profits.

The only possibility for any significant capital gains with cryptocurrency is getting in early on new altcoins and hoping for the best. I dont really see any other way of doing so if u are only limited to investing and trading
