1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / XFX RX 480 BLACK EDITION RMA CARD OVERCLOCKING ISSUE on: June 19, 2017, 08:44:18 AM
I got 5 RMA cards back from XFX.

Trying to overclock them but the timing straps are abnormal. It's also a different VRAM manufacturer.

I've tried copying the "1750" strap - when I got to reboot, mobo returns error and won't boot.

I've tried the XFX Samsung mem 1328 vBios. It overclocks but won't display a picture. Have to reboot and reflash with the RMA stock BIOS (which also has a 1338 core MHz clock).

@genie
You are saying there's an error in the algo? Or the pools?

15+% orphaned blocks indicate error in algo...but should be "patch-able"?

Just trying to understand.

Is there support for this pool?  This forum appears to be unmonitored by anyone in support.  At least by anyone who desires to respond.

Lucazane is the pool moderator. He responds every-so-often.

Luc,

What's up with the sha pool today? Can we get it running stable or is it crashing network/site?

Miners are down again now. On and off all day but shitty overall h/rs.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: The Blocks Factory - Multicoin pool on: June 03, 2017, 03:09:31 AM
Was getting 13.2+ TH Valid
2-3 GH invalid.

I bumped up the difficulty to 4500. Seems to be stable now. Sharerate is considerably lower obviously.

Thanks for the suggestion.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: The Blocks Factory - Multicoin pool on: June 02, 2017, 10:16:28 PM
Luc -

Something's up with fixed difficulty - I have my 4 s9's set difficulty (_diff1500). Been running stable with much lower invalid rate and higher sharerate for the past 3 days. About an hour ago I noticed a problem with one of the s9's. The difficulty is now auto vardiff.  My settings have not changed. I've reset the miners.

Any changes you've made?

Dashboard

Hashrate(valid/invalid)
15 minutes :
47.97 TH/s

5.15 TH/s
3 hours :

Good Morning ,

yes its true , there is an very high Orphan Rate right now .
I checked everyting twice an there is only one Solution .

I noticed that Suprnova got high Orphans if Pool  was low on Hashrate opposite NetHash. Now Suprnova Pool has lots of more Hashrate and Orphans gone .

Thats the Same here now on my Pool , low Pool Hash opposite high Nethash = Orphans .
Keep in Mind that eMark is an POW/POS Coin. POS Blocks count for Orphans too.

Solution : More Hash Power is needed to equal Pools

Regards Glen

Yed. PoS/PoW. I forgot this about DEM. Thank you. That makes a bit more sense and orphan blocks are labeled as such even though they are PoS.

I'd add more s9's to the pool, but it might make more sense to solo mine if I do this.

Thank you Glen and ComputerGenie.

The  calculator:

http://whattomine.com/asic
or
http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency
...
OK what you have to keep in mid is that those calculators do not take certain things into account, most specifically diff increase (i.e., 13M going up to 18M) and increases in the network hashrate. They are just designed to give you a ballpark. When you combine that with the insane orphan rate, lately, you get the "loss" you're seeing.
The difficulty is very similar (dynamic but within a 7%+/-) on both the calculators (13.2 mil on whattomine and 13.5 mil on coinwarz) and the pools figure (13.5 mil)  on Network difficulty. My experience with these calculators over the past 8 months has proven these tools are rather reliable. There's too great a variance at 75%.

The orphan blocks is something I wasn't aware of but in doing more research on it, it appears that eMark experience 22-35% orphaned blocks. That's an opportunity loss on 22-35% of blocks. Still doesn't make a 75% difference. But pool efficiency is one question that I was posing as that is a mitigating factor as well.

I'm sure this sounds argumentative and it's not intended to be. Trying to understand the variance.

What's the link to the one you're talking about?

The  calculator:

http://whattomine.com/asic
or
http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency

The Pool is:

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DeM] Deutsche eMark - DEM - cryptocoin SHA256 POS/POW on: May 29, 2017, 02:54:59 AM
Most of those calcs don't account for the abnormally high orphan rate of eMark.
Understood. Thanks for the info. That alone isn't the cause for a 75% realization from calculator v actual though...
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DeM] Deutsche eMark - DEM - cryptocoin SHA256 POS/POW on: May 29, 2017, 12:43:07 AM
Hey Glen

Been mining 1 s9 on your pool at gcpool.eu - we are averaging significantly lower returns than online calculators are predicting. Is this just due to low pool h/r? Up for 30 hours now and have about 300 coins thus far.

Thanks.

Probably a couple hours of work for someone with experience.

MSI z170a gaming m5 Mobo
DDr4 Ram
120 GB ssd
Celeron 3900 CPU
Currently 5 XFX RX 480 GTR Black Edition GPU (1 is non-functional - Last resort was flashing stock BIOS to no avail)
1x 16x risers
EVGA 1200w Platinum
Win 10
16.12.2 drivers

4 cards running stock 24.7 mhs (NiceHash)
300-310h ZEC

Goals for work:
Fix Non functioning GPU
Adding 2 additional GPUs (7 total)
OC/Undervolt
Help with Batch files on NiceHash

I just reached a breaking point. Been working on this thing 10hours a day for the past 2 weeks. Willing to pay someone to help me out with it. Just like college.

Thanks in advance.

Any ideas here. Still having this mem usage issue.

Also, I know it's been covered and I have searched but getting this error:

GPU #3 returned incorrect data! 3bdfb3

Gracias

okay  so no flash correct?

did you set the vm  to 16gb  if you are win 10 or win 7

do you use claymore?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1670733.0

NOTES:
1. Reduce intensity ("-i" option) if miner is unstable or if you see bad speed.
2. It seems there is no way to get full speed on latest drivers for Fiji cards, at least in Windows. So don't use latest drivers for Fury, use 15.12 or 16.3.2.

-i   mining intensity. Possible values: 0...9. 0 - lowest intensity and CPU usage, 9 - maximal intensity. You can also specify values for every card, for example "-i 2,5,6". Default value is "6".
Note: reduce intensity if you get low speed or miner is unstable. Also check several values to find the best speed, for example, "-i 8" can be a bit faster than "-i 9" in some cases.

if you did not put in a number you are at -i 6 by default
try -i 5 in your .bat file
Thanks Phil again. I know how difficult it's gotta be teaching the new guys about the same basic shit for you all the time. Much appreciated.

Correct. No flash. It's stock. Just plugged in four days ago. I've been all ASIC prior to this rig. I downloaded AMD's latest drivers 22.19.157.3. These xfx rx 480 are Fiji? Going to read more about that.

I set the VM to 15.4 in Windows 10.
I'm using claymore via NiceHash (beginner shit)

------------------------------
I think the rest of the message is for the error: "GPU #3 returned incorrect data!"

So, I'll try to mod to the bat file. That could cause the instability in the memory usage on the single card and not the others?

After I get this stabilized I'd like to OC the cards. Does this prevent that mod?

Thanks again

don't call the drivers by those numbers.    they are  called  by this set of numbers  by most of us.

the 15's are oldest then the 16's then the 17's
don't use the 17's if you have rx 480's  use a 16.11 or a 16.12

google amd 16.11 download
I download from this site below all the time. they are pretty safe.

AMD Radeon Software Crimson 16.11.5 driver download
www.guru3d.com/files-details/amd-radeon-software-crimson-16-11-5...
You can now download Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.11.5 driver. This release is focused on improved support for Watch Dogs 2. Radeon Software Crimson Edition is ..

here are some of the sets of drivers I did not write all down.
15.7
15.11
15.12

16.3.1
16.4.1
16.7.1
16.7.2
16.9.1
16.11.4

17.1.1
17.2.1
17.3.3
17.4.1
17.4.3

if you have rx 480's   try the 16.11 and 16.12

I am 90% sure you are on a high intensity then the gear will handle.
Do you have an i5 cpu ?
most people put in the low cost Celeron or pentium cpus

You get short resources and a card bombs out.
I stopped building 6 card miners a long time ago since I know what the max  power use in my house will ever be I know I can build 2,3,4 card rigs. And fit them all.

thus smaller psu's and cooler quieter gear is easy for me.

Also the vm should be   at least 16 not 15.4

if you have a bigger ssd do 24 or 32  won't hurt if your hdd/ssd is big enough
re:Drivers - I figured that those specific drivers numbers would give you more info...but I have 17.4.2 installed now. I'll Display Driver Uninstall them and reinstall 16.11 per your suggestion.

I bought a cheap Celeron 3900 CPU and cheap 4gb ddr4 and cheap 60gb ssd. I've already ordered a 120gb ssd to replace and return the 60gb.

As soon as this is stable I was going to add 2 more GPU's (7 total). Free electricity where I currently am.

I'm also running speedfan as Wattman didn't control the fans on these RX 480's. Hopefully the 16.1 solves that problem as well.

I'll increase the vm, although I'm out of memory on the current ssd.

Also trying to figure out where the .bat file is for NiceHash to adjust intensity.

look on gpu-z     ram for each card is there.

click upper left  graphics card

you clicked upper center  sensors

samsung
hynix

micron

are the 4 main names

Gotcha. Nope. They are all Samsung.

Do they all have the same ram?

Sometimes they have different ram.

Thanks for the reply Phil! Much obliged.

How do I check ram?

Try reflash this card, first with original bios, then try modded bios. (try first without OC)
Had similar issues, and solved flashing.

I just hooked them up so it's factory for now. I'll try reflashing factory driver dl. Thank you.

Overnight it seems the speed has mostly normalized but the memory usage is still quite higher than the other 4 cards.

I have XFX RX480's hooked up to a MSI Z170a gaming m5.

The first GPU has a memory issue.

All the other cards are stable at:

It's causing a small decrease in hr: 2-4% on zec other cards are running
307-311 h/s and this one running 274-298 h/s.

Any help greatly appreciated.

got it!
Was having a hard time since it's an asic (Not Windows/Linux) and just needs the stratum address.

Still learning how to plug that into the URL address on the r4.

Trying to get up to speed, but it's a steep learning curve from my dayjob. Appreciate the response and any further info you care to share.

Looking to point an r4 at a pool...

Any good ones left/out there?

I've checked the two remaining on the past few pages of this thread.

Been reading and reading, can't figure out how to point it there?

Is solo mining DEM eMark better?

(Obviously a new comer and appreciative of the help)
