1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Attack on Bitcoin on: June 23, 2019, 07:02:07 AM
Somewhere, a group is preparing an attack on Bitcoin. It will come around the next big pump. The attackers will have an exponentially large advantage of computing power. If the network isn't compromised, it will be severely damaged.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook coin is not a threat for Bitcoin on: June 23, 2019, 05:50:55 AM
If about 50% of facebook users decides to try facebook coins because of the companies reputation, won't the demand of the price make the price surge and hence call investors to convert their bitcoins for facebook libra? It is a great treat to Bitcoins and Ether.

If 10% of facebook users use their coins it would be relatively big. People already use venmo and zelle. It doesn't have to be a good cryptocurrency; it just has to be easy to use.

It won't compete with btc, it will just stifle its growth.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH is now dying, what do you think? on: August 09, 2018, 12:41:22 AM
If ETH is now dying then all crypto is now dying. Crypto is not dying. Here's why: just like any other asset that is traded, it is prone to market forces. Look back to 2013 when BTC spiked, how long did it recede for? You think 3 months is a long time to drop for? Be thankful that futures markets stayed the bull rush before BTC hit 20-30k. We might be looking at 3k BTC now had that happened. The market will stabilize itself.

Eth, apart from some supply/PoW vs PoS concerns, is one of the strongest coins out there. It is supported by thousands of tokens, no matter how ridiculous their contracts are. And it has a plan to make transactions scalable and efficient, instead of just having a flat transaction fee of $20-40 no matter how small the transaction.

Most of all Eth has a leader who has a voice and a vision. You can't put a price on that.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin replace gold? on: January 07, 2018, 07:18:08 PM
Gold will only be supplanted by Bitcoin once the gold on asteroids can be harnessed. Since it is not feasible to deploy mining equipment to an asteroid, we will have to redirect a smaller passing asteroid to impact Earth just offshore where it can be retrieved economically. This can be accomplished by detonating explosives near the asteroid as it approaches Earth. It will require sophisticated rocketry with precise sensor capabilities in order to safely direct the asteroid's path.

Therefore, the entity that controls the world's most advanced rockets in the coming decades can exponentially increase Bitcoin's value by devaluing gold via flooding the supply of it.
5  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin prices on: December 16, 2017, 04:23:58 PM
With the unstable increase and decrease in bitcoin is it a good idea buying, selling or holding now? Like yesterday I saw it hit $19,000 on coinbase but today it stands at $16,000
Today BTC again hit 19,000$+ just incredible raising. It is difficult to believe BTC will come so far.In december must be BTC will be pumping 20,000$+
2018 is nice era for BTC i think.

Honestly at this point 25-30k wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary (looking at the last year).
6  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin = $1 Million by 2020 on: December 07, 2017, 12:04:34 AM
How are people predicting global demand for Bitcoin (in all countries, not just their native one) if this is something which we have never seen the likes of before? How can you predict the demand for a light bulb when it has just been invented and barely adopted? It's like we're at the point where we know the light bulb is a good thing for inside houses, but we're just realizing we can also use it to light our streets...
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'M GETTING REALLY ANGRY! WTF is happening with this BTC/BCH crap! on: November 12, 2017, 07:30:53 PM
I'm pretty sure it is temp pump for BCH. BTC is the main cryptocurrency on the market and still will be. i Have been using BTC since it was 400. Many crypto tried to compete with BTC in the past but no luck.
BCH has temp pump and soon this pump ends and some who invested and believed in BCH might loose

We all agree that it is a kind of a pump, but the main concern here is that the bitcoin cash is stealing network power from bitcoin mainet, which means that we are going to have less frequently blocks for the next few weeks, until the difficulty adjustment.

The fact that the legacy chain bitcoin is going to rule at the long run doesn't change the fact that the rise of the bitcoin cash damages the eco system of bitcoin.

The bitcoin cash rises in price--->It becomes more profitable to mine bitcoin cash------>Bitcoin hash rate becomes lower---->>Less frequency blocks, which is a very bad thing while bitcoin stands in mainstream.

It was a well timed thing to be sure, but really isn't sustainable at all. BTC will simply correct a few weeks/months later and things will be on their normal path again.
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Am I late ? on: November 12, 2017, 01:49:05 AM
The best time to buy is now.

Who wouldn't trust a face like that?

OP, just wait a week or a month and buy.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think digital currency will ever replace paper money? on: November 08, 2017, 03:45:19 AM
We're going to run out of trees sooner than we're going to run out of computers and networks.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: would you live in a country that use bitcoin as official currency? on: November 08, 2017, 03:43:30 AM
Would the wealthy pay transaction fees too?
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is this for real? I could be a millionaire? on: November 08, 2017, 03:38:49 AM
Pretty sure someone was using my gaming GPU to mine coins (without my knowledge) through 2011-2012... So technically someone robbed me of millions. I'm not really mad, just impressed.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC Mining vs Buying on: November 08, 2017, 03:27:00 AM
Is it better to get BTC via mining or buying now?

It was no longer profitable early this year for mining. However, with the recent price surge, does mining becomes profitable now?

If yes, any suggestion? There are quite many cloud miner in the market.

Thanks.

There are a few things that point to mining becoming more profitable in the near future, but there is also the impending bubble burst as well so... still a risky choice as it ever was. Easy to get burned by hardware vendors.

Buying, while not nearly as "cool", is much simpler and requires less additional time investment. Do some research, make some buys, check back in a few months and you're good. If you start mining, you'll constantly be obsessed with hashrate, payouts, and efficiency. That's a higher cost.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: gpu bubble well and truly bursting on: November 06, 2017, 05:05:09 AM
I can't imagine this bull run will last much longer. We all know the laws of physics - what goes up...
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin be replaced by another cryptocurrency? on: November 06, 2017, 04:56:51 AM
Over a long enough timeline, BTC will be replaced, or at the very least, dissolve into many different blockchains indistinguishable from the original core.
15  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin falling again on: September 15, 2017, 12:22:42 AM
This is just a temporary scare to set the stage for the last big bitcoin sale for the next few years. Sure, it might fall to 2/3 or even 1/2 - that has happened many times throughout a coin's history. But in the end the result is nearly always the same: inevitable recovery and rise to new highs.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Signatum - New Algorithm - Fair Launch - No Premine - Cryptopia on: September 09, 2017, 09:53:04 PM
So what pools are left that mine SIGT? how much SIGT are you mining per day and with what card?
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: September 07, 2017, 02:50:23 AM
2psu per 8 1080 ti rig
Evga 1000 g3 and some 1800 watt from aliexpress
The one from ali makes more noise, since it's fan have no speed control, but they both are good psus

Aren't you worried about the nonbrand 1800W PSU ? You can afford 1080ti and can't afford decent PSU ? Isn't it like buying nice sportscar and installing the oldest and ugliest rims and tyres ?

It's worse than that; it's like buying a nice car except with worn tread tires, old break pads, fucked up suspsension... and then taking it rally racing.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: September 03, 2017, 09:41:45 PM
How can I update ccminer to add the skunk algo? I don't want to compile from source again. Also, i have cuda 8.0, but it looks like there is only a skunk release for cuda 9.0. is that going to be an issue? I really don't want to change anything.

edit: nevermind, just cloned it and installed everything all over. skunk algo working fine
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why price going down today? on: September 03, 2017, 03:34:06 PM
Why are prices going down today? Because it's not a day where prices are going up (that was yesterday).
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★[ANN] [NAV] NAV COIN - NAVTECH NOW DECENTRALIZED! on: August 29, 2017, 04:56:59 AM
So what's actually new in 1.2? I went to read about it and read a recap about privacy and encryption instead.
