Hi there, have you ever tried to mine with Nvidia gpus? Afaik SMOS does not support out of the box but is there any way to install their drivers written by community?

Anyone else having problems with internal watchdog?

WATCHDOG: GPU 1 hangs in OpenCL call, exit
WATCHDOG: GPU 1 hangs in OpenCL call, exit
Binary file (standard input) matches

And it just stands there.. I need to manually reboot rig each time. It works for a day or two and then GPU hangs and it just stops. Why the watchdog doesn't reboot the rig when this happens? I mean it's still green in dashboard, so just one click is required, but why it doesn't reboot itself without clicking?

It happens to me when a GPU is not working properly, what is your GPU? Did you try to plug gpus one by one? You need to find out which one is gpu 1.

When I plug 5 gpu's, SMos reboots the system unexpectedly. I don't know when or why it happens but sometimes it happens 2 hours later from boot time, sometimes, 1 hour later. Could you please help to find out what it happens?
I've MSI Z170 Gaming M5, 8GB ram and 5 Asus 8GB RX 480 gpu's.

I've tried to enable 4G but screen freezes when it loads the smOS but after disabling the 4G it loads the smOS but wouldn't start the miner also in smOS dashboard I only see 4 gpus out of 6

Same issue, I couldn't find any solution for that. In addition, when I use more than 4, SMOS doesn't see any of them.

As I stated before, I've MSI Z170A Gaming M5 motherboard and Asus RX 480 8G, when I try to use more than 4 gpus, simplemining doesn't detect gpus and it gives and error.
Is there anybody who uses Z170A chipset? Have you ever tried to use RX 480 8G with this motherboard?

I thought I had replied to you earlier, but upon reviewing my post history, I may have been thinking about a response I posted to another user in another thread.

I run this board with 8 RX 470 4gb cards without issue, and it was very easy to get running. I have helped a couple people with this board, and to the best of my knowledge, everyone has been able to get it to work with the following steps:

1. Use a Skylake processor. One person I know of started with a Kaby Lake processor, and he could not get the board to run more than 4 cards without switching to a Skylake.

2. Update the BIOS to the latest version.

3. Enable above 4g decoding

4. Leave all other settings alone (with the exception of selecting internal graphics upon boot up), especially the settings concerning PCIe speed. Leave PCIe speeds set to "Auto." Other people have suggested changing these settings to Gen I or Gen II, but most of those suggestions concerned getting this board to work using a superseded version of the BIOS.

5. I know Tytanick is working on some issues with smOS and how it interacts with RX 5xx cards. I don't know what those issues are.

Thanks for your support.
I can not activate Above 4G Decoding option in BIOS, whenever I do it, SMOS doesn't boot, system fails with white screen.
Do you have any idea why this occurs?

Hi. I am having the same problem with msi z170 sli. Motherboard is finally detecting 6 gpus but not loading smOS. I am using USB stick. I am trying win 10 hopefully that sort the problem out.

Afaik Above 4G Decoding should be activated in order to solve this problem. Did you try it out?
Whenever I edit this option in BIOS, system does not boot.

Hi all, I've MSI Z170A Gaming M5 and 7 gpu. I would like to use Linux based os, I tried Ubuntu but during boot I get kernel panic errors when I plug all gpus in. It couldn't boot if I plug more than 4 gpu. My gpu is Asus RX480.
My question is, can simplemining handle this case, I'm not sure because it's Ubuntu based OS as well.

... well.... there is only one way to find out ... why dont you get smos on the usb3 stick and try it out?

I have 5, 6 and 8 x RX480 rigs and 4, 6, 7 x R9-Nano rigs on smOS without any issues.

Thanks for your response. I just want to know before trying whether there is compatibility error. What is your mobo? As far as I know kernel panic occurs due to z170 chipset.

Should not have any hardware issues because kernel panic is usually OS and GPU driver related.

I use 2 types of mobo - the good old H81 Pro BTC and the Biostar Z170-GT7 for my 4xGPU riserless rigs -- runs well with 480 and Nanos.

After setting up the smOS on the usb stick - remember to upgrade kernel to AMD 16.6 drivers (you can do this in smOS itself).

4 gpu works perfect with Ubuntu, 5 doesn't. I will try within today and let you know if I've any trouble.
