Wait what? It's 4 hours of activity on the forum? That seems a bit rough, I thought it was just 4 hours from registering... hmmm hoping I'm close to my post count now at least.

Wow, that's a very educational and interesting post, thanks for that Kevlar.

Sorry if these are newb questions but am I understanding right that once given a public key you can search through the block chain to find the holdings of the wallet associated with that key? Also, is it possible at all to find the public key associated with a certain BTC address? Just curious to understand the limitations of the BTC network.

Can someone fill a newbie in with regards to all these 'Free giveaway bitcoin' sites? You give them your email address along with a BTC address and they send you advertising for the chance to win in these giveaways?

I've been happy with MtGox so far, the support was quite helpful for me. I think they've received a lot of negative feedback because they were targets of DDoS attacks. It's going to happen when they're doing the majority of BTC trades (which is probably not ideal).

Are you referring to the banner they run at the top of the MtGox site? I think that refers to the last 24 hours of trading, i.e. the lowest and highest traded price for BTC in the last 24 hours and the total volume of BTC in the last 24 hours.

Hi all,

I've been browsing the forums for quite a while now and thought I'd finally register. I'll freely admit I'm a latecomer to the bitcoin craze but I'm interested in contributing to the community now. I've got a Comp Eng background so potentially hoping to help out with some Custom Hardware.
