1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Unprofitable - What next? on: August 11, 2018, 03:53:16 PM
I’d find another hobby. Those with more morney than brains have taken this over.  Yea I’m sure the price will pump to some insane level at some point. But surely this goes down as one of the largest scams in history.  It’s all becoming clear why satoshi kept hidden.  Maybe the task force of private detectives will sort this scam out. BR

What do you think is a scam the whole mining aspect of crypto?

Also, I would turn off all the updates on windows if you are mining windows 10.

I do have afterburner, not using it at the moment.  Bat file is very simple, but it worked for a long time previously so I don't think that is the issue.

Here is the bat, obviously I took out the usernames and whatnot:

EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool coinotron.com:3344 -ewal user.worker -esm 2 -epsw password -allpools 1

-cclock 1250 -mclock 1850

trying putting that into the .bat file without awesome miner on. I know it may not seem like the issue but this saved me before.

also before it freezes does is there a pop up in the bottom left corner saying AMD setting have been restored to default?

how are you overclocking the cards?
I had this problem when switching algos and editing inside the .bat file. If you are overclocking in the  .bat file then mess with the occlock and mclock

Not overclocking at all as of this moment.  Just trying to get things up and running right now.  Everything is at stock settings.

Do you have afterburner?

can you copy your .bat file on here without your address of course.

Ok lets say that I have a big garage with 7 windows, big garage door and a normal door. If i where to make a tunnel from one window to another but use insulation styrofoam as the walls of the tunnel do you think the walls would make it hotter than it should be? Maybe I should go with plywood?

have as much of an exhaust fan as you can get (in my opinion, there is not overkill here) and put that on the highest window of the garage leading out. now you just need to know where you are going to be getting your "cooler" air from and build walls on each side for the tunnel. as long as you exhaust your hot air faster, you are set.

I have two windows directly facing each other and have two 2500cfm fans (one intake, one exhaust) curretly the window fans are not sealed up and sit about 8" infront of the window. Ideally everthing should be sealed from one window to another (the tunnel) along with the window fans right?

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 18/mh on RX 580? on: March 14, 2018, 01:24:37 AM
Just a simple question , how much should be the hash rate of the RX 580 ? My brother is mining with 3 Riggs with nicehash and the return is 3 $ per day so 1$ for each rigg , I think the hash rate is very low in this case or is it normal , could you please tell me more about your statistics , in which pool you're mining and your ROI .

One rx580 rig (x6 rx580's) should get you 180 mh/s on ethash. 3 dollars a day for 3 rigs doing 180 mh/s is not right

You can't make an apple juice out of apples and bananas mixed and squeezed together right?

You can if the person you are serving it to has never had apple juice
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BAIKALMINER Giant-N cryptonight 20000h/s 60watt on: March 11, 2018, 05:18:03 PM
Is this brand new?
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BAIKALMINER Giant-N cryptonight 20000h/s 60watt on: March 11, 2018, 05:12:42 PM
I want to buy but considering below factors:-

It only mine cryptonight and a dangerous precedent was set by Bitmain followed by Halong miner

And we remember what happened with X11 when Bitmain unleashed almost double capacity miner followed by Innosillicon

For buying argument:  I tell myself to buy with hope that Bitmain etc won't launch more powerful miner

For not buying argument:

  • Its only 2 algorithms (effectively one as only AEON is on second algorithm)
  • 20Kh is huge hash rate and currently shown earnings are expected reduce by 50% atleast.
    • It does not support 5 to 7 algorithms like its always with Baikal , take example of Giant B, after mega miner release of Decred by Halong its only gonna profitable to mine coins such as Lbry on Giant B

So if Baikal announce it will add more algorithms in this device then i could consider buying, yet i am confused and not taken a final decision.

    Thanks
Very good points. I really dont like asics that only support one or two projects. I wonder how much it is going to be[/list]

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L3+ - What would you mine and why ? on: March 03, 2018, 02:51:23 PM
Depends on how many you have to play with. If you have a lot of them and want to take some risk mine some shitcoins. But if you want to play safe and dont really want to mess with changing coin just mine LTC. Some people jus mine what every is most profitable for the day and buy what ever coin they want to hodl.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How are you guys paying for electricity and bills? on: March 02, 2018, 09:44:30 PM
Seriously, buy some MWAT, specially if you're from Balkan area, and get your free energy

So who is to say I didnt make 3k instead of 10k making my taxable income 600$? I know this isnt legal advice but just curious if this is really how it would work lol

Miners are basically self employed unless they create an LLC or Corporation.

Your taxable income is total revenue - expenses.

If you depreciate your mining equipment in a single year you can subtract that amount from your revenue also, if not you have to take a percentage every year.

Don’t depreciate in a single year unless...

Total Revenue >= Electricity Cost + Costs of Rigs + Misc Expenses

Otherwise you will give up on the tax savings as your taxable income cannot be less than zero.

Nice this Is very helpful. Should i record how much I made in USD every month or keep the amount of coins that I made and convert to USD at a certain time frame. I believe it is the time that I actaully convert it right? What if i never cash out.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why do you small timers even bother? on: March 02, 2018, 09:36:10 PM
Im a small farm and the amount of work that I have to do to consistently make money every month is freaking my boggling. Mining is here to stay. You dont have to start off big buy one and keep adding. Thats what I did. Btw i dont have a big farm
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How are you guys paying for electricity and bills? on: March 02, 2018, 09:24:41 PM
Bought 30TH/s on Hashflare last year before they increased the price to cover the electricity bill.

for what algo?
Im guessing SHA256
Scrypt and Ethash is measured in MH/s and Equihash in Sol/s.

So my educated guess was correct
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What is the point of mining anything but ETH? on: March 02, 2018, 09:20:21 PM

Ok so with a situation like this. You are mining expanse because of the low mcap and potential price increase, along with staking. Why not just mine a more profitable coin, which is usually not expanse, and buy expanse that day, week, month etc?

1. I can mine it with my 2GB cards too
2. I don't have tons of hashpower, so I'd have to wait a month to hit ETH payment threshold
3, its simpler this way, directly to exp wallet instead eth to exchange, swap eth for btc, swap btc for exp, send exp to wallet

That makes sense especially cause most of the time its really not a big difference in profitability.
