I haven't seen a check since the 80ies, except one. Got one in return from some USSAnian scammer company. I was told by my bank I had to travel to USSA to cash it in. Would you be happy if you got a check which you had to travel to Japan to cash in? Probably cheaper to take the 5% option.
Sturle, you keep mentioning this 5% emergency withdrawal option, but not a single person on this site has been able to provide any evidence for it. Further, if such an option existed, it would currently be quite profitable as the spread between other sites and Mtgox is over 5%. See previous pages of this thread for first hand reports of emergency withdrawals. I have. The only person I have seen mentioning it really is you. Show people how to get one of these supposed emergency withdrawals or stop spreading this FUD. I was offered the 5% emergency withdrawal option. You merely have to ask for it, if it isn't offered to you. I asked and was told that such an option does not exist.

Trying to invest... but apparently BTCT.co isn't accepting new registrations? Anyone know what the deal is there?

I wonder when something like this will be available for people who don't have $5 million to invest (for those of us in the US)...
Soon, wait for the Winklevoss ETF.

Very little volume, very few clients. Really no point in trading there yet. Total volume over the last 24h I believe was 2.5 coins.

Nothing new in the last month. Was this thread abandoned, or are these meetups no longer taking place?

The issue is that MTGox is not processing withdrawals for the most part. If you believe that your withdrawal will eventually pay out, then it's more of an issue of having funds stuck for an undetermined amount of time, as opposed to being cycled into additional arbitrage betting. Apparently, some are receiving withdrawals in JPY. Generally, bank exchange rates back and forth, in addition to wire fees, will eat away at profits from these bets.

Looks like his issue was resolved. How about yours?

Prices of 101/106, no dates listed on the open trades section. Is this service still active?

Gox price was significantly overinflated due to withdrawal problems. To the best of my knowledge, nothing has changed here. People are still waiting for their withdrawals from July etc. It does look like the price of btc has stablized between the exchanges who are actually processing withdrawals, however. Very unfortunate, as this ruins our wonderful previously available 10% arbitrage abilities.

More opportunities exist including other brokerages, can you add btc-e and virtex? More realistic due to withdrawal processing issues with gox etc.

Time to take advantage... Inability to cash out of Gox makes this difficult.

BTC is not useful for laundering, everybody can see what you are doing in the blockchain
That is the exact same reason to date not a single person has been ripped off via some entity when using Bitcoin. Please elaborate on why you believe this to be true.

I can sell my bitcoins to Bitcoiniacs for $101/btc. If i click on your link for localbitcoins, I can sell my bitcoins in Vancouver for $133/btc.

What rate are they selling BTC at? The website says $101
Is it the rate updating properly on the website? Seems too good to be true.
No, if you want to sell your BTC to them, they will pay $101. If you would like to purchase BTC from them, they're asking $124. About 20% more expensive than local competition, but cool and convenient.

We offer some of the best rates in the solar system MTGox current value: $130 Their offer $101.35 I do like their sign, and it's very cool that we have a local B&M for this however. Would be a good option in an emergency.

I'm too new to send a PM here. Please send a message my way with an alternate method of contact. Thanks.

You could just sell them back at Gox and make 20% profit - genius! Have you tried conducting six figure transactions through Gox? This guy is willing to provide cash and gold plates, clearly anonymity/privacy are of concern here.

You can also load your backup file using a program such as Multibit in order to retrieve your bitcoins. It's setup so that even if something happens to the blockchain site/database, your bitcoins are safe. Please keep us updated regarding your situation here.
