Well before any of that happens, I would prefer that Somaliland get official recognition first so that the fledgling democracy can get all the support it needs. I mean, it's working better than Somalia proper. They need help now though. They're currently experiencing drought as we know, that do lead to violence as people fight for resources. Many would argue the Syrian civil war started with inadequate response to the drought happening at the time.
You are 100% correct about Somaliland. They need international recognition, and perhaps a United Nations membership. It is unfair to deny them the membership, when Somalia can have it.
I understand that I'm wrong, but my impression is that in Somalia the pirates are solid. Who wants to have the pirates had a membership in the UN. Anyway I think that in recent years the UN has proven its inability to solve international problems. Even with there membership in Somalia nothing will change.
