Hi there

I need advice on a case that will hold 3 or ideally 4 x HD7950 Graphics Cards. I want a case that will hold the cards without needing to modify the case or have to mount cards on top of the case. The cards all need to be held inside with enough space to fit them inside.

I have built a few rigs using Coolmaster XB HAF cases but can only fit 2 x HD7950 cards inside safely due to the space.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am configuring Stratum-Mining but when I check the stratum.log file it appears to be waiting for litcoind. In stratum the RPC port is configured to the same RPC port in litecoin.conf 19334

Litecoin daemon is running fine however with this config

I dont understand why Stratum appears to be waiting for litecoind RPC.

Does the block chain need to be fully downloaded for Stratum to connect to Litecoind RPC??


I also get this error on my mmcfe front end

Unable to connect to litecoind RPC service: Didn't receive 200 OK from remote server. (HTTP/1.0 401 Authorization Required)

I will install a P2Pool Server for anyone who does not have the technical skills to get their P2Pool Server working.

You will require a VPS Server or Dedicated Server with the following OS Installed before I start:

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) 64 Bit

If you are not sure how to purchase a VPS let me know and I can talk you through the process. A VPS server will cost you between $10 to $30 a month.
I will also setup your server so port 80 is forwarded to your P2Pool Server address.  I will set the Fee that you will be collecting from Miners to whatever fee you choose.

Today I would like to gauge some feedback. Currently we are close to launching a new Hosted Mining Service to the Litecoin Community (also can be for other Alt coins). I wanted to get some feedback first to make sure our business is suitable. We will also change our business model depending on feedback.

Here is our proposed Business:

We will offer 3 Services:

1) Customer has option to pay a fixed price for hardware. We provide the specification depending on amount of kh/s they require. We will then build rig, install software and host the rig securely in Scotland UK at a fixed monthly cost. This charge will cover all costs, electricity, cooling, internet. You will get access via ssh to monitor and web monitoring. All Litecoins will go to your wallet. Server will be unmanaged. After a year contract you will be welcome to collect the rig or to have rig shipped to you (if you pay courier costs).

2) Customer will send us their Rig. They will then pay a fixed cost to host their rig unmanaged. Customer pays a monthly charge for hosting rig. This charge covers all costs, electricity etc. Customer can access rig via ssh. All Litecoins will go to your wallet. After a year contract you will be welcome to collect the rig or to have rig shipped back to them (if you pay courier costs).

3) Customer will just pay a fixed monthly fee for a specific number of kh/s using one of our own Mining Rigs as a Hosted Service. We will host the rig and allow access via ssh, web monitoring.  This monthly charge will include all costs - Internet, Power, Cooling, Electricity. All Litecoins will go to your wallet.


I would appreciate some feedback from the community to confirm which server would interest you. We also have potential for a 2nd Hosting Centre in the United States for our US customers. This will reduce latency for those who want to connect to US based pools.


SOME MORE DETAILS AROUND COSTS AND THE HOSTING CENTRE:

Fees are currently estimated in U.K as follows. (For U.S based servers this would be cheaper as power costs are cheaper in the U.S.). We will have U.S figures soon.

Build and Install Service for a Rig - Bronze - 600 kh/s rig  - £900
                                                       Silver    - 1200 kh/s rig - £1165
                                                       Gold     -  2400 kh/s rig - £1675

For customers taking the Build service they would pay hosting costs below:

Hosting Service - £65 per HD7950 card per month -
So £65 per month for around 600kh/s,
     £110 per month for 1,200 kh/s
     £200 per month for 2,400 kh/s


Hosting Only Service would be higher ( as we would have to cover hardware costs to build rig ):

£90 per month for around 600kh/s,
£160 per month for 1,200 kh/s
£270 per month for 2,400 kh/s

These figures may change.

2. The building is secure with onsite presence with security alarm and contents insurance. 2 Operators will be on site. Customers will be allowed to visit by appointment

3. The termination after a year is only by client request for example if they want to sell the hardware. If customer takes option one and pays for all the hardware components then they own the equipment.

4. Unmanaged Service - This would mean we do not constantly look at the server or monitor it. Customer is responsible for calling or emailing us if their server has gone down or needs reboot etc. We have operators on site to reboot servers. This would be included in the price. We would also be willing to investigate issues or resolve software faults caused by the client for a small fee.

5. We would guarantee uptime. We would aim to provide at least 99% uptime. If we dropped below the agreed level then we would provide a proportionate discount for the following months rental.

I am now offering a service to configure your Linux Mining Rig. Installation can be time consuming and some people don't have the knowledge to get this working.

All you need to do is install XUbuntu and then give me remote access via ssh (with a login and password) then let me do the rest

I will then install CGMiner and configure for your mining pool
I will install AMD drivers, SDK drivers

The server will also have the following when I have competed the work:

* VNC Server so you can connect via VNC
* Web Monitoring setup with Apache so you can view your machines stats with a web browser at http://x.x.x.x/miner.php
* Automatic Emails when machine starts up or reboots (useful for monitoring)
* I will setup so the system detects all your graphics cards
* I will ensure that each HD7950 is hashing at around 500 kh/s or above
* I will configure so your miner starts up automatically when machine starts up
* I will install byobu so you can run commands from remote console and exit (but leave command running)

Hey I thought it would be great to see everyones Mining Rigs.

Ill start with mine. I built my first Mining Rig last week. I used a Cooler Master HAF XB case, MSI Motherboard, Corsair 850watt PSU, Corsair Memory, 2 x SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7950 Boost Edition 3GB GDDR5 GPUs, 2 x SSD Hard Disk 64Gb.

Today Im hitting 1000kh at intensity of 13 after spending a few days tweaking settings. This is running cgminer on Xubuntu.

Im building my first mining rig. Spec as 2 Sapphire Radeon 7950s Boost 3Gb for GPUs.

Im using Xubuntu and cgminer. Everything was working fine with one card but Im having issues with 2 cards.


Questions for the expert miners

1) Do I need to connect the Bridge Crossfire Cables between the 2 cards. Im still not 100% sure if these are needed for cgminer on Ubuntu
2) What would you suggest I run for a basic config to get these 2 cards mining.

Currently I seem to be able to get GPU 0 mining but GPU 1 appears to fail and cgminer sets the card to OFF. I can stop this by removing the line
export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100 from my script.. I thought this was needed to crank up the kh/ps.


Both GPU's appear when I run aticonfig list and they also appear if I run cgminer -n

Any idea why GPU 1 is failing like this, is it config or could the GPU be faulty. The temperature for GPU 1 is also a lot lower at 49% where as GPU 1 is running around 80c.

What intensity would you suggest I use for these cards? I ran at 20 and it freezes the screen and eventually the whole board freezes and I need to do a CMOS reset to get up and running again..

Im almost there..Just need to get my 2nd GPU Card working...  

I really don't want to have to install Windows. I really want to try and get this bad boy working on Xubuntu.
