1  Other / Meta / Forum suggestion for countering low quality on: December 30, 2018, 03:41:00 PM
I have been around this forum for some time and even though I am not very active I just like to read about crypto and learn about potential trade opportunitys.
That being said I find it difficult to read constructive thread without someone junk posting and causing disruption. I started to use this forum mainly because of quality opinions on projects that I consider investing in.

There are just so many low quality posts that sometimes makes me feel as if nobody reads the topic but rather just rambles non constructive answer based on topic title. I have noticed a lot of times when bot would pick up year old topic and suddenly low quality members would just post nosense without ever reading topic or realising that it is dead.
Another annoying thing that I feel might be more easy to solve are new members or low rank members who advertise scam, post refferals or act as bumps.

I that it would be a good idea to add further limitations.

Rank
Newbie   -    Should not be able to open their own topics, should not be able to post links, with current 360s between posts they should also have daily limit.
Jr.Member   -    Should not have signature or personal text, longer time between posting, daily limit on new threads and posts.
Member   -    Should not have signature

With cutting off new profiles from easy access to basic features it should demotivate some of the people who like to spam links or participate in bounty campaigns.

In addition I would like to see feature that would act as merit/activity karma which would reduce members merit or karma every time their post/thread gets removed. By that I don't mean losing stats gained by the specific thread but rather penalty that would punish members for low quality content. This would have effect on all ranks and make you think twice before posting.

All current spam defeats the purpose of sig campaigns in the first place. I remember that if I find someone making a quality post/s I would check their other threads, I would check signature because I build expectation of this person making quality decisions while in the other hand nowdays you have shitposters who probably barely earn anything and main reason is just that because nobody will ever get interested to check someones sig or website if all of their content is junk.
2  Other / Beginners & Help / Guide for newbie traders and investors on: December 26, 2018, 08:21:05 AM
First I have to adress that this is guide for newbie investors who don't have any experience in trading and should be common sense or irrelevant for those with more experience. Also note that my advice might not be correct and you should always check multiple sources before making decisions.

I have seen a lot of people getting burned by making bad decisions by inexperience so I will provide some info that might prevent you from losing big time or limit the damage.

1.0 First important thing is that You won't miss out on anything. Take your time and learn what are you getting into. What is cryptocurreny? Who made it? Why does it have value? What are the benefits? How would you describe it if someone asked you what is bitcoin?
It is like checking out new car which you plan on buying. Once you learn something about it, even if you miss out later on You will have much better chance of making a good deal rather than just fearing of missing out on a good deal and ending up with problems later on.
Note that there are plenty of opportunities everywhere, prices will always go up and down, don't rush.

2.0 How and where are you going to buy asset? How safe are you? Where are you going to hold it?

2.1 I won't share any website exchanges because in the future they might turn bad or die. Look around forum what are the current trusted exchanges with low fees and assets you are going to trade.

2.2 How safe is your device that you are accessing exchanges and your wallet? I would recommend using separate device which purpose is just to be used as access point. No games, no downloading, no porn. As more people get interested into trading there is the same ammount of interest of someone stealing your coins and there is no chargeback. Once your coins are gone, they are gone for good.

2.3 Depending if you are going for long/short term investiment or daily trading you want to choose the right place to hold your assets. For investing I would strongly suggest on using hardware or cold storage wallet which will prevent any hacker attack or accident that might get your data compromosed. Unless you are daily trading I don't suggest holding balance on exchanges or any 3rd party wallets where someone else is in control of your private key. Hackers are on high alert looking how to access fortune on exchanges. Exchange could suddenly terminate or limit your account, error might happen and you will stay locked out of your funds just like that. Check what happened to Mt.Gox

3.0 Start slow like I said there is no missing out. Keep track of your moves. Take notes during journey.

3.1 You are all set up for buying asset. Test waters by going slow. Exechange certain amount and withdraw it to your wallet. You don't want to deposit $1k to find out that there are limits, long delays or your account gets locked until you vertify it. Once you pass that step, if you want to trade start with small amount. It will take time until you figure out how market moves, you don't want to take unnecessary risks. It's better to burn 100 bucks and learn from it than gamble.

3.2 Keep track of how much have you invested. Make excell document or whatever and write dates, deposits, reasons, add your comments on why did you deposit and for what purpose. Know your limits of how much are you willing to lose. Keep in mind that all money that you are going to deposit could be lost. Disconnect your emotions from it. If for whatever reason you start to worry about it the best thing is to withdraw it immediately and reconsider what do you want to do before making a mistake.

3.3 As previous said, making documentation is very handy thing for being responsible investor. Make excell document or whatever you prefer and add notes about what have you learned, your goals, plan your moves ahead. In the future it will come very handy to understand why did you make certain moves and how to improve your decision making. I even like to make a prediction on other assets that I don't trade based on my current understanding and then later on I can see if I was making good decisions and it is great way to follow project developments.

4.0 Learn public moves. Isolate emotions.

4.1 A good trader can spot a good time to buy or sell just by public activity. Watch news, influential people, follow project and this forum. When there is a lot of talks on the news, people being enthusiastic, charts going only green. It is a good sign of a building hype. When you see ads everwhere popping to buy bitcoin and you are being served FOMO, then you should know that the ones that are willing to sell you asset at that time are cashing out their profits.
While you have silent times where nobody talks about it, devs continue to be active, forums and people who are into it spread fear and HODL. Based on where are the charts you could consider buying some of the asset if you really like the project (This the time when all your notes come handy aswell).

4.2 There is difference between feelings and emotions. Usually doing anything with high emotions is considered gambling because they can rapidly change and you could make decision which will make you later regret. Everything is about collecting information and rational thinking. Learning how to deal with your emotions will make you better trader. Here is one more way why collecting your own data will calm you down when you read your own comments and decisions that you made while investing.

5.0 Don't trust anyone

5.1 Never trust any information, especially news or ads suggesting you to trade. There is always someone behind it that makes profit out of it.
Don't read some article and beleve it or make decision based on it unless there are multiple different sources and you can check it. Whoever makes suggestions of doing certain action either wants to take profit out of you or has no clue what is talking about.
That being said Don't trust even me who told you that because I could be completely wrong.

There are plenty more things to say but I don't want to make too long rambling thread. If I find something important I will add later or someone else can add up and correct me if I said something wrong.
3  Other / Politics & Society / Freedom of speech is a luxury? on: December 21, 2018, 09:52:56 PM
There is something that bothers me for the last year or so and I don't really see anyone ever mentioning it. Freedom of speech on the internet or society seems to be very sketchy. You might think that you enjoy your freedom of expression while in reality there is no such a thing and I noticed in the last few years that on the internet it is getting more and more narrow.

I will separate few talking points into sections just for the sake of not making a large messy thread.

Intro
Freedom of speech and expression has not always been around us and still it is a luxury that could cost you a head in many 3rd world countries. In the last century you can openly express your opinion on any topic, you can bash on media, politics, anything and everything or is it so? Now as a modern society freedom of speech is one of the basic human rights but when you look at it more deep, you will always have certain boundaries.

Internet
Internet is a world wide web without ownership and control while there is constant battle of giants trying to control it either by large services and tracking it's users. You have giants like google with majority of the network that has turned into monopol machine. All information is being processed, search results are being filtered and bad marked content will never get the views. There are always options of being vigilante and use tor network or other smaller providers but the result is that there is just not many people around and you will be very limited.

Social media
Social media are great for staying in touch wether to your friends, fanbase or group of followers. But as you know content is extremely monitored and there is only that much that you can share. This pattern in the last years is clear indication of new advanced ads and owners making the most of it. But even when you move back in time when there was not much ad limitations it would still narrow your options. Check out youtube on example. In a year or two they went from wild west into fword, family friendy content. There have been some political censorships but I will not go into it because I don't want to speculate.

Work and career
Job interview... Think twice what will you write in your resume, no beard, watch out for any tatto, rather make a bunch of lies and say that you have no weak points. People get screwed over so easy over some bullshit things they do or say online. I mean do I haveto say much about it, you already know how it goes on.

Conclusion
We might conclude that most of the todays censorship such as insults, extreme content, or hard opinions might be clearly driven by pure profit It bothers me to see that we don't have good enough alternatives. Atleast internet should be free of censorship.

I might have missed a lot of content because I am not currently in the shower but you should get my point. Share some of your opinions on the thread so we could make a discussion.
4  Other / Serious discussion / Battle between giant gaming distributors Steam and Epic Games on: December 19, 2018, 08:32:02 PM

I have realised that there might be ongoing battle between gaming distribution platforms "Steam" and "Epic games".

Steam was launched in 2003 and it started to gain player base in 2004. Half life 2 was the first game to require installation of the Steam client to play the game.
Since then Steam knew what a huge potential could have been achieved by having software launcher installed on gamers computer which would allow them to offer new games and purchases. From that day Steam is the only real player in the town. Many game developers would publish their games through Steam since this is the place where are the buyers. With each game purchase or market trade of virtual items Steam is earning their cut so you can imagine how much do they earn.

There you have some other game launchers but they are not on a scale of Steam.

And then I realise that there is very successfull Epic games. They have fresh game which make them a ton of money (Fortnite).

It is like as when it started with steam with half life2. They have a huge player base who had to download and use their game platform. But it's more than that. They have a range of games that steam does not have which servers the purpose of keeping current players to play some other games but also to attract new ones to join epic games instead of steam.

As of late I have seen that every 2 weeks they will offer great deals with giving away games for free which will attract players to join their platform but not just that. Purpose of doing that is to make players feel that they are building valuable account like you do with steam where you collect games, build up your steam account level and makes you feel like you own something.

With Steam making their own game Counter Strike GO go from €15 to free to play I am convinced that this is response for Epic games action.
It has greatly icreased number of players on steam but there is also some backlash to it with old community feeling ripped off.

With that being said I really hope that there emerges competition which would benefit users since they might offer better deals and try to improve by listening to user feedback.
As you could imagine while in monopol I feel as many others that Steam never listened to any feedback, they didn't care about marketing since they were the giant so it will be interesting to see if competition could change that.

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / JPMorgan and btc pump on: November 03, 2017, 06:46:14 PM
Just to remind you of my speculation from china ban/JD FUD since btc is pumping so high. What do you think now about Jamie Dimon and his comments that he would fire JPMorgan traders if they were caught traing btc. Accussations everywhere how he manipulated market to crash btc price and then "At issue is an alleged link between Dimon’s comments and, a few days later, JPMorgan emerging as one of the most active buyers".
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-09-21/jamie-dimon-faces-market-abuse-claim-over-false-misleading-bitcoin-comments

He did manage to bring down the price for about over 20% so was it worth it the reputation? Will anyone beleve him again?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How do banks feel about crypto on: September 15, 2017, 09:13:59 AM
What do you guys expect for crypto future? It is clear that crypto is growing and won't stop any time soon as it gets more recognised and user friendly. Governments and banks want to have control over the money as they can control prices, taxes, activity, take advantages and a lot more. Here comes the crypto with baby steps starts to real recognition as it has grown quite big in the recent time.
Now you have China blocking ICO and jumping on bitcoin exchanges, CEO of JPMorgan making comments, here is US with IRS and they also feel left out. It is clear that they are losing side as they are being left out of taxes, feed and control. There was many statements that crypto technology should be government crontrolled (actually centralized) because of "scam".
Ok in one hand there is bunch of ICO scam coins without any technology or idea but just making owners rich. It is true that some investors lose to make others rich but then again that is natural in any trading. But let's be serious no government or businessman give a shit about who is getting scammed because they look for themselves. So looking on it It is clear that banks, giants and some governments are worried about it.
