8-10 weeks ago, I wanted to change my wallet.dat file.
Temporarily, I sent my coins to GOX , created a new wallet.dat file and sent them back.
So far, all looks good. The question is - is it possible that there is another copy of these coins due to GOX security hole ?
How would I know ?
To clarify my question , if I understood correctly , GOX security hole allowed people to use the coins twice once they were transacted from GOX to outside wallets (if I understood correctly)

Hi
I would like to make a small confession.
I work in a company that decided to add bitcoin payment to it's cart over a year ago.
I posted a few notes about it in the forum and other forums.
After a year+ we have it on line , the number of orders paid with bitcoin is ZERO !!! Yes. Zero.
And we have thousands of orders every year all paid with credit-cards/PayPal.
So this makes me think two things:
1) People are not really buying stuff with their bitcoin
2) The future of the bitcoin as real currency is gloom.
Please prove me wrong (as a person who hold a few coins....)

Just to update about my transactions
1) MTGOX - I am waiting for 5 weeks for my withdrawal. Didn't come yet.
2) I tested Kraken service and made a withdrawal of 150$. It arrived after 8 business days (international transaction) which is nice.
I am upset with GOX. They don't even bother to answer my support e-mails

5 weeks ago I made a 1000$ withdrawal from my GOX account.
So far - money didn't arrive.
I have transaction number and e-mail confirmation for my action.
I contacted GOX support couple of times - no answer.
I am starting to get very worried about money trapped in GOX
Did any of you experienced a smiliar thing ?

Here is my idea of coin theft preventing.
Let see who will take it and do something with it... The idea is for FREE !!!
Today, if someone breaks into my account , he can send the coins and it's lost forever.
The idea is to put a coin gateway which stores the coins temporarily.
During this time , SMS notification is sent to the account holder. If he approves , the coins are being released to their original destination.
Simple.
Now what happens if someone breaks into my account and change the phone number ?
Once that happens , I also get a notification that my number was changed and by default , the account is blocked 24 hrs from sending coins away.
It gives enough time to handle the theft attempt.
So... What do you think ?

The market value of all bitcoins right now is 9-10 BIL$.
Market value of A medium size bank in the US is around 50 BIL$.
A big bank (C, BOF) - 150 BIL $
The bitcoin is not a bank. It's a new economy. Do you think that a new economy worth less than a medium size US bank ?
Think that unlike the banks that have tones of expenses - bounces , advertising , salaries, rent , losses because of arrogant analysts etc etc etc , the Bitcoin has 0 expenses.
Nothing - no salaries, no advertising no expensive shining branches.
So ,to conclude my point - we will see the Bitcoin value rising and rising - you can't help it.

I just wanted to update that I spent a few BTC cents making my 3D business cards on Snapily website.
Apparently, they accept BTC bitcoins at their checkout !!!
Great to see more and more stores started accepting bitcoins...
I designed a 3D business card and uploaded on the back of the card my QR image on the back so my customers can easily send BTC to my wallet!

As you know , trading with bitcoins (actually buying something ) is an issue.
Most users are "sitting" on their coins , waiting for the value to go up and down.
I don't think many people are actually buying stuff with it.
An idea that might make a change is "negative interest". If you don't use your coins for for let's say a few weeks , you pay a "tax" for not using your coins and the system automatically reduces a certain amount of coins from your account.
The reduced value goes back to the "system" and now new people can mine them as a new coin.
Pros :
1) People will trade their bitcoins and stop accumulating them !
2) The trade volumes will get huge
3) High trading volumes will encourage more and more people to use bitcoins so the amount of bitcoin users will get dramatically higher.
Cons:
1) People can move money from wallet to wallet so their "old" coins won't pay tax. Need to think about technological solution for that
2) People don't like paying taxes ....
