1  Economy / Trading Discussion / Bitcoin breaks all time high and surges past $5,000 on: October 12, 2017, 09:34:09 AM
A little over a month ago, China tightened regulation on ICOs and cryptocurrency exchanges, crashing the price of BTC from $4,975 down to under $3,000. Now, just over a month later, we have seen a Bitcoin price rally, blowing past previous all time highs.

Many people are moving their positions from altcoins into Bitcoin in anticipation of the Bitcoin Gold hard fork that will be time-stamped on October 25th. In a fork, a group of miners decide to create a copy of the existing blockchain from a particular block, then branch off into a new blockchain thereafter, typically to implement different protocols or policies. As a result of this blockchain copying, every person who holds BItcoin in a supported wallet will receive free Bitcoin Gold at a rate of 1:1. This is a very attractive motivation to be invested in BTC currently, especially after the last Bitcoin Cash fork birthed a top 5 cryptocurrency out of thin air, earning investors mountains of free money.
It’s clear that the hope and expectation for this hard fork is relatively the same, as Bitcoins rally comes during an otherwise greatly reduced market. Bitcoin is on fire, and altcoins are on sale.

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Best NVIDIA driver version for ETH on 1060? on: August 01, 2017, 02:31:32 PM
Hi,

which is currently the best NVIDIA driver version for ETH mining on 1060 in Win 10 64 Bit?
I tried the newest 384.94, but some cards are slowing down to 1 - 4 MH/s per card instead of ~24 MH/s.
Do you know that problem?
3  Economy / Exchanges / Kraken unavailable now? on: August 01, 2017, 01:44:01 PM
They are twittering, that trading BCH is live now, but when you click on login, you get that:

Do you have the same problem?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / BCH hashrate? on: August 01, 2017, 01:19:14 PM
Which hashrate did BTC loose now and how much hashrate does BCH currently have?

Is there a comparision between BTC and BCH available?
5  Local / Deutsch (German) / Fork LIVE verfolgen on: August 01, 2017, 04:52:33 AM
Hallo,

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Right way to get free BTC on 1st August!? on: July 28, 2017, 12:39:59 PM
Hello,

as I am not believing that BCC will last long at a high price I am thinking about following steps to get free BTC out of it on 1st August. I know, that there are security concerns, but maybe together we can find a step-by-step to do it in a safe way?

My plan is:

  • Create 2 BTC wallets and store your private keys.
  • Send your BTC to new wallet1.
  • Wait until fork is done.
  • Move BTC from wallet1 to wallet2.
  • Wait for how many confirmations?
  • Move BCC from wallet1 to Kraken
  • Wait for how many confirmations?
  • Change BCC at Kraken to get BTC
  • Withdraw BTC at Kraken to BTC wallet 2

What do you think about it?
So you should be protected against replay attacks.
What about "wipeouts"? Any chance to get protected against that?
Any other concerns / ideas?
7  Local / Deutsch (German) / Kann eine Bitcoin Wallet Adresse theoretisch doppelt vergeben werden? on: July 28, 2017, 06:17:48 AM
Hallo,

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Where and how to sell BCC on 1. August? on: July 28, 2017, 05:26:00 AM
Hello,

I have the private key of my BTC wallet.
So is it correct, that I will get on 1st August 1 BCC for every BTC I have in my wallet?
"Where" will I get that BCC and where can I sell that BCC on 1s August immediately? Cause I personally don't think that high price of BCC will last long.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Disadvantages if starting miner for each GPU separate? on: July 24, 2017, 07:08:02 PM
Hello,

do you know if I will have disadvantages if I start the miner program (in my case ethminer) for each GPU separate?
Like starting on one rig that commands:
Code:
ethminer.exe --cuda-devices 0 ...
ethminer.exe --cuda-devices 1 ...
ethminer.exe --cuda-devices 2 ...
ethminer.exe --cuda-devices 3 ...
and so on ...

The advantage of that solution will be, that if one GPU fails (for example if overclocked too much) only that single GPU will not mine until problem is fixed. If I start all GPUs in one process and any of the GPUs fail, the mining will stop for all GPUs until problem is fixed.

But will that have any negative (or even positive) impact on mining performance or anything else?
Thanks for your help.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Too much overclocked? How to determine which GPU did fail? on: July 24, 2017, 01:04:27 PM
Hi,

in one of my rigs I have 1060s from different manufacturers, but all with 6GB and Samsung memory.
Now I am trying to find the correct overclocking settings for MSI Afterburner.
With following settings for all GPUs ethminer sometimes fails:

Power Limit: 65%
Core Clock: +120
Memory Clock: +750

I know from prior tests, that some of the cards can run at memory +950 without problems, so I think now, that only one or 2 specific GPUs in the rig can't run stable using the +750 setting.
Is there any way to find out which GPUs did fail, when ethminer stop working?

Then it would be easier to lower the settings for that specific cards and raise for the other, stronger cards more.
11  Local / Deutsch (German) / Mitbestimmungsrecht durch Full Node? on: July 22, 2017, 06:30:33 PM
Hallo,

Aber dort steht "8405 Nodes", was mir sehr wenig vorkommt. Ist das wirklich die Anzahl der Full Nodes weltweit, oder nur ein gewisser Teil davon (was sich z.b. dort gemeldet hat oder so)?
Oder kann man diese Frage gar nicht beantworten?
12  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / My first Bitcoin Full Node - Some questions on: July 22, 2017, 11:06:39 AM
Hello,

I want to support the Bitcoin network and I am setting up a Full Node today.

But I have some questions about that:

  • How many full nodes does currently exist worldwide? I did find the website https://bitnodes.21.co but it says "8325 nodes" and that seems really little for the whole world. Is that correct? Or can that question just not be answered?
  • Must/Will I have to choose/vote for proposals like BIP 141, 148, etc. as a Full Node? Or is this only possible for miners?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Switch to which altoin for more profitability? on: July 11, 2017, 09:10:40 AM
Hi,

I think the current ETH difficulty increase and price drop is making some people (including me) thinking about switch to mine (GPU) an other coin instead of ETH.

Which one(s) would you suggest to being more profit now?

I know, that there are calculators, but I know only my ETH hashrate (which is nearly 200 MH/s with 8 x NVIDIA 1060). How can I convert 200 MH/s into hashrates for other coins?
Or what you think it would be and which coin would you suggest for GPU mining?
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Understanding ETH difficulty on: July 11, 2017, 04:42:18 AM
Hello,

which factros does really affect the ETH difficulty?
Is it only the number of miners / total hashrate?
Does also the ETH price affect the difficulty?

If difficulty increases, does that mean also, that I reach less MH/s if this was for example 30 MH/s until now? Or will the MH/s stay the same?

Is it possible and realistic that difficulty decreases? When would that happen?
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / 9 GPUs in Windows ok, but Miner won't start on: July 04, 2017, 08:47:53 AM
Hi,

my rig (Asus Prime Z270-A + MSI 1060) works well, when booting up with 8 GPUs (using 1 M.2 -> PCIe adapter).
When booting up with 9 GPUs (using 2 M.2 -> PCIe adapter) the 9 cards appear correctly in Windows 10 64 Bit (8 GB RAM), but miner (tried Claymore and ethminer) won't start.

See the pics. Do you have any plan, why it doesn't work with 9 GPUs? I heard, that one can't use GPUs in both M.2 slots of the Asus Prime Z270-A, but Windows discovered both GPUs correctly:

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Using different GPUs in the same rig? on: July 04, 2017, 08:37:30 AM
Hi,

what do you think/know about using different GPUs in one rig?
For example using EVGA 1060 and MSI 1060 in the same rig?
Or mixing 3GB and 6GB modells?
Or even use AMD and NVIDIA cards in the same rig?

Will one have disadvantages, when mixing GPUs or is it absolutely no problem, cause every GPU is mining for it's own?
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / 8 - 11 GPU Rig, which PSUs to choose? on: June 27, 2017, 02:38:15 PM
Hi,

I am going to build an 8 - 11 GPU Rig (depends on how many cards I can get to run on an Asus Z270-A mainboard (using 1 M.2 to PCIe adapter and also 1 PCIe to 4 Port PCIe adapter, see pic).
I will use only NVIDIA 1060 (some 3 GB / some 6 GB) cards, cause others are extremely overpriced.

I would prefer to use 2 seperate PSUs, cause it's much cheaper than 1 big PSU.
Would 2 700 Watt PSUs (be quiet! Pure Power 10-CM 700W) be enough to power the whole rig?
I am planning to undervolt (65%) and overclock the cards (core +120, mem +850) and think 1 card will user 90 - 110 Watt.
If I am right, the maximum for 11 GPUs would be around 1210 Watt and then there would be some power for the rest of the system (CPU, RAM, etc.).
Or is this too less power?

If I use 2 PSUs, will I have to use a special link cable, between the PSUs or will it also work if I just connect the additional cards to PSU2?

Do you think, that these 1 PCIe to 4 port PCIe adapter will work on the Asus Z270-A mainboard? Or will even more than 1 of that adapters will work on that mainboard?

Last question:
The Asus Z270-A mainboard has 2 x M.2 slots. I will use one slot for M.2 to PCIe adapter. So can I run my system using a M.2 SSD in the second M.2 slot or is it blocked cause of the use of slot 1? I am asking, cause I did read, that only one M.2 to PCIe adapter will work on that mainboard, so I am unsure if a SSD will work in the other M.2 slot.
