1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Ethos driving me crazy! Signal lost on: January 25, 2018, 02:32:07 PM
I've build and am running several Windows rigs without too much problems. I want to test Ethos 1.2.7, but can't get the damn thing to even boot up. I'm trying with a purchased version.

1. One 1060GTX gpu connected (2 more installed, but not connected yet)
2. Start up
3. Ethos boot screen is displayed
4. Then blank, signal lost, and the GPU fans turn off

I've tried multiple risers, 3.0 cables, all 3 GPU's individually and simultaneously, pcie speed from auto to gen1 and 2, etc. No differences.
I'm sort of lost here Huh

System is not connected to the internet yet. Shouldn't matter?

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Dark color spots on pcb of GTX1070 on: November 23, 2017, 04:39:16 PM
I have an open rig of 6 ASUS GTX1070's running strong since july 2017. No problems with performance differences between the cards, each one running 30 mh/s ethereum at 48 degrees celcius. However, the card on the right outer side has some kind of dark colored spots on the pcb? It looks like grease, but its on the pcb solid, can't get it off. The other cards don't have this. Any ideas? Huh

Normal card:

And the one with the dark color spots:
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Temperature error? EThereum miner GTX1070 on: October 19, 2017, 04:53:42 PM
I've been running my 6x GTX1070 ethereum miner since July without a problem. This morning the miner software shut down and there was a very light burned smell in the room. I checked everything, but found nothing. Restarted and it was running solid again at 175mhs. After a couple of hours it shut down again. When I now restart it, it runs for a couple of minutes and then starts throwing these temperature errors. It then runs on 3 of the 6 cards. The room is colder than ever with the winterseason coming. Afterburner shows max 55 celcius on the cards.

Suggestions? Huh Am I looking at software or hardware failure?

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / From mining ETH to... on: August 09, 2017, 09:33:06 PM
I get the feeling some miners dropped mining ETH and switched to other altcoins, simply based on the fact I (think I) see a lot less commotion around mining ethereum lately.
Have you dropped out of mining Ethereum and what's your altcoin of choice?

At the moment I'm still mining ETH. With 6x 1070GTX I'm making a profit of around 3.250-3.750 euros per year at current value. As I hope that ETH will rise in value to around 1500 euros per ether, it calculates back to around 21.000 euros per year. Sort of grab it while you can.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Slower ETH mining (Claymore / GTX 1070) on: June 17, 2017, 12:38:32 PM
I notice a difference in mining speed (not a difference in hashrate) the last couple of days. Previously my miner would mine 0.1 Ether every ±25 hours. Now it's gone up to every ±31 hours, but the hashrate remained the same. Any pointers to where I should look?

Claymore ETH miner
Windows 10
5x GTX 1070
Hashrate ±145 Mh/s

Here's my mine.bat file:

timeout /t 5
setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
ethdcrminer64.exe -epool eu1.ethermine.org:4444 -ewal WALLET.MINERNAME -epsw x -mode 1 -tt 68 -allpools 1
pause

Thanks!
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / System only sees 2 of 3 GPU's (1070GTX) on: June 09, 2017, 06:02:17 PM
Ok I'm officially stuck Huh

I'm running 2 1070GTX without any problems, but when adding the thirds the system simply doesn't see the 3rd GPU card.
- Tried updating the BIOS of the motherboard (Biostar TB250-BTC), but no change.
- Tried updating the Nvidia drivers (now 382.33), but no change.
- Tried switching rizers, no change.

Rest of the system:
4gb ddram
120gb SSD
Intel pentium
Windows 10
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / The basics are the hardest (software?) on: June 07, 2017, 08:23:02 PM
I've been reading about mining altcoins like ethereum for some time now. This resulted in buying 5 ASUS 1070 cards (AMD cards are completely sold out), some other parts, and material to build a rig. This part is clear to me.

The mystery to me lies in the software. I'm using Mac computers now for such a long time that Windows will take some time again, but Linux is a total stranger to me.

I see many people mentioning Linux as the best OS for mining with 1070 cards, but I lean towards Windows because of the vague familiarity. And then there is EthOS but it limits me to mining Ethereum.

What would be the wise decision?
I'm now thinking about:

Windows 10 64-bit
Genoil ETHMiner
Alpereum mining pool

Because that seems to work Smiley (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1940360.0)
