4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How much hope is there for any new coin not to be dumped to death? on: May 20, 2013, 11:13:25 PM
What features could a new coin have to avoid the pump and dump quick deaths that have taken down so many others? I see WorldCoin with a fair and smooth launch, with fast transaction times and some thought was shown with the retargeting to not fall into the problem that hurt FeatherCoin so bad. WorldCoin seems like a coin with potential, yet all I see is massive amounts of dumping at whatever the top offer is on bter and mcx, even if the top offer is lowballing recent bids and purchases.

Watching these two exchanges for a while, it seems like WDC miners would not hesitate to dump their coins for half or even less than the current bids if that was what was offered. To an extent I can see taking the guaranteed profits because it is still very lucrative, but when multiple 1K+ dumps are transacted literally one second after someone purchased at a much higher price over and over again, you have to wonder if any coin can really survive like this. I have watched all afternoon as people clearly dumped the second their WDC hit their exchange accounts. There is no other explanation, as waiting 5 seconds to view the order history would have yielded them better prices time and again.

What could be done to minimize at least some of the most incompetent of dumpers?  PPC tried adding interest for coins held in one's wallet. Could a larger interest rate coupled with the other features of WorldCoin fair better for a potential coin? Can any new coin survive the growing number of dump miners that will sell at virtually any price above zero? I'm wondering if even LTC would  survive if launched today in such conditions if 99% of the coins mined were instantly dumped for whatever someone was willing to pay.

I'm all for a third coin surviving long term, and perhaps I am jumping the gun in posting this so soon after WDC hit the exchanges, but it just seems like this one is going to play out like all the rest and it seems like a good coin.
5  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Is my 7950 dying (hashrate fine, accept shares VERY low) on: May 08, 2013, 02:56:43 AM
I bought two 7950 Sapphire 3Ls at the beginning of April. I run them both at a modest overclock, which gets about 590 kh each, and temps have always been around 65C on one and about 55 on the other. The one at 65C is the card running good results as i type this, the one at 55C is poorly producing.

Anyways, i noticed earlier today in GUIminer that my hashes for one card were WAY lower than the other. (about 1/5 as many) So I closed and reopened GUIMiner. Same thing. I shut the PC down let it rest for a few minutes, and started again. A few minutes later the card in question has Accepted 34 shares, stales 4. The other card (which was started at the exact same time) has 193 accepts and 3 stales.

The poor results card is still getting the same 590k/h it always has. Is there anything I can do to try and fix things? What do you think is going on with the card?

8  Other / Beginners & Help / AMD Display driver keeps crashing on some of my cards at random on: April 22, 2013, 11:58:48 PM
I had two Sapphire 3L 7950s in a Crossfire board for a couple of weeks, using GUI miner mining LTC with Windows 7 Ultimate. Everything ran smooth no problems.

Now I got two 4Ls to go with those, along with an Asus p8Z77 board for 4x Crossfire. The last several days I would notice decreased hashrates from time to time, and see that at least one of the cards was running 0 percent and not hashing until I stopped/started the corresponding worker on the GUIMining software. It seems that within a few hours at least one of the cards will go down. Very annoying since I cant watch it 24/7, and every morning since running 4x cards one of them has been down for a few hours while I slept. My temps range between 55-75 depending on the card, not ALL that hot...

Just now I noticed one down, did the stop/start to get it going, then a couple seconds later I got an AMD Display Driver failure prompt window, the screen flickered for a second, and that same card was back down again. This is the first time I have actually seen this happen, so I assume this is what is making the cards go down randomly. What should I do? Is this a known issue? I have the latest offical AMD Drivers. I dont use crossfire bridges. Please help. The current difficulty of coins in general is making profits slim enough, but I am having several hours combined of downtime every day since going 4x 7950s....
9  Other / Beginners & Help / What is the best way to cash out from BTCE or Gox to a US Bank Account? on: April 22, 2013, 04:14:10 PM
Fairly new to mining, and just want to get a plan going to eventually start cashing out on these two exchanges. I am a US citizen, and as of now not verified on Gox. What method has the least fees and is most reliable to move from an exchange to a US bank account?
