2  Economy / Trading Discussion / Stop Loss, A life saver or a evil? on: December 18, 2019, 12:17:05 PM
Hello,

I had this question in mind, since many of my trades with an adjusted stop loss got triggered, but then the market goes in the direction I wanted, but since it got triggered basically im out. I know this is due to big fishes messing around.

What do you guys think, is stop loss something or, or not so good?
3  Bitcoin / Project Development / Crypto Checkers - Play checkers competitively placing bets on: December 14, 2019, 07:43:58 PM

Hello, I want to present the project I'm curently working on, I'm aiming to finish the MVP (currently at 80%).

Who am I?
I'm a Software Engineer, currently I have a full time job as Software Engineer (Java, PHP, node.JS, AWS mainly).

What is this project about?
Cryptocheckers is a place where users can play checkers competetively (10x10 board) online against other people (real persons) placing bets. For example, you start a match and get paired, you are in the betting room for (0.0005BTC), let's suppose you win, you will get +0.0005BTC to your account, if you loose, you lost the btc, simple as that. But, the beauty of this is it's not like a casino games where everything depends upon pure luck, and in the long run the casino always wins due the house edge, in this case, it's a skill based game, the more experience and skill you have, the more chances you have to win, its a skill that can be developed and improved.

Team & Time spent developing current state
So, currently I'm the only one and I've been working on this over a year now, since I cant spend all the time I would like to since I have a full time job, but, if this project works and succeeds I will take the decision to leave my job and work on this project fully and even start other skill based games.

Hiring Frontend Engineers
So, I'm a Backend Engineer, and my Frontend/UI work sucks hard, I can't pay much but maybe we can come up to an agreement, please contact me privately.

Please, I would like to get some feedback from the community, if it's a good idea, if it could work, I also will need some people for beta testing, I will use this thread to let you know when I need beta testers. Don't hesitate to ask questions or give ideas/improvements! I hadn't much time to post more pictures.
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Where to post a new project? on: December 11, 2019, 08:37:46 AM
Hello, I'm working on a project I would like to anounce, it is an online game where you can place bets (with crypto currency) - it's not a gamble game like a casino, it's more a skill based game, where is the best place to post it? And does it need to have ANN prefix?
5  Economy / Services / Earn money with your skill while having fun on: December 06, 2018, 11:11:41 AM
Hello,

Bored of casinos? Want to use your skill to EARN Money? This project is about exactly that.

So I won't reveal about what this is, but I will give some keywords so you can have an idea:

"Skill based game", "turn based game", "multiplayer game (online)" "betting with cryptocurrency"

So, I have 50% of the MVP (Minimum Viable product Developed), I just got fired in my work (just insolvency of the company) and i'm able to work on this daily as a daily job work, I need YOU to answer 6 really simple questions that you can find here:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdCRubC4wu4seHYdDqiZDFsXizqaViUnOtE5sZcx3spjGc84A/viewform

What you will receive?
Firstly, a very big thank you for your time, and secondly, when we launch this project (if we launch it) you will get a bonus for answering the questions (can be anything ...).

So if you are interested, put your mail in the doc, say yes to "keep me updated" and I will start emailing news.

If this gets a lot of feedback, I start another thread and start posting in BitcoinTalk.

8  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Nodes talking, sockets or over http on: August 08, 2018, 02:44:59 PM
Hello, I have a question, I know that (at least in bitcoin) nodes talk to each other opening sockets to communicate if I'm not wrong. What I've seen so far this is like a standard for other cryptocurrencies. What If I would create a cryptocurrency, but communicating over HTTP protocol, for example using JSON post request. I know that this would be potentially slower due to an extra layer of the HTTP protocol.

But could it work?
Would it make sense?
9  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / How to handle deposits on a turn based multiplayer game on: May 22, 2018, 07:03:35 AM
Hello, i'm developing a turn based game where you can bet against your opponent, if you win you earn back your money and opponents money, if you loose the opponent gets all. So, I want this project work only with cryptocurrencies, but i'm facing a lot of problems:

1. People need to deposit money to the site, and when the start a game they decide how much to bet and then start to pay:
Problem: People dont like to deposit money on sites.

My solution: Users would deposit money on site on an address, I would give him the ability to download the private key of the wallet, but that comes with another problem:

If a user starts a game and bet 10$, since he has access to the wallet before the game ends he could just send the money elsewhere and scam the system. My solution:

Send bet amount before he starts a game to a newly temporal created wallet only for that purpose, but that's comes with another problem:

Speed, and fees,  bitcoin is slow, cryptos are not that fast.

So how could I solve this problem, giving the user the ability to download his private key but "freezing" the money for a bet.

The easiest solution is to not let the user download the private key, but i won't scam them and I want them to feel comfortable. I just need a form to freeze the money used in a game,

Any advice?

11  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Blockchain immutable - modifying blocks on: May 15, 2018, 08:38:37 AM
Hello, this is not related to cryptocurrency, it's more about Blockchain.

This is the scenario: Social network built on top of blockchain.

Imagine that a users publish a post. And later he noticed a wrong part in his message and want to edit that part, but since it's already in the Blockchain and it's immutable, how would you proceed in this scenario. I have a way to go, but not sure if it's the best:

Block1:
- id: 1
- type: "post"
- Message: "Hello world"

Block2:
- id: 2
- parent_id: 1
- type: "post"
- Message: "Hello world v2"

So in the users profile would be displayed block1, so the first message unless another block with parent_id pointing to the old block is pointing, then I would use the last "version" of the block.

The idea would be like creating different "versions" of a same block.

Would that be a good fit for this problem?
12  Economy / Trading Discussion / Making 1% Daily on: March 20, 2018, 09:51:42 AM
Hello,

Would it be possible to make 1% of your capital every day?

This would be 30% in a month, this is a lot.

It really comes to your capital:

1% of 100 would be 1$ daily, so 30$ on a month.
1% of 1000 would be 10$ daily, so 300$ month.
...

Is trying aiming at 1% daily too much? to ambitious?
13  Economy / Service Discussion / Research - Torrent users on: February 28, 2018, 10:21:22 AM
Hello!

I'm thinking about a project idea, but firstly I would get some info about you guys. I know there is a lot of people using torrents to download stuff, and I think that can have 2 potential problems:

- You need to have a torrent client to download the files on your computer
- Potential malware, viruses you can download.

So, what if there is a cloud torrent service (already exists) that downloads the torrent on the servers, and analyzes them for viruses, and if all is fine, you will get an email with the download link for the file.

The page would work this way:

1. You enter the site and upload a .torrent file or introduce the url to the torrent
2. You introduce your email.
3. Just wait until you receive an email with a download link

Benefits of that:
- No programs on your computer
- No risk of downloading viruses, malware...
- Once the file is downloaded in the servers, you would just download the complete file in our highspeed servers.

Fremium Model:
- The service would be free, but limited to 1 torrent/day as free users (not clear about that).
- The downloaded files would expire in a short time frame, let's say 3 days, unless you pay an extra for storaging the file on the server.

Thinking of an integration with Mega, after the server downloads the torrent, the file could be moved automatically to your mega account or something like that, the problems i'm facing is that I need the user credentials to do that (username and password).

So, questions for you:

Are you a torrent user?
Would you use a service like this?
Would you pay (small amount) to download even more each day?

14  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Question about blocks and mining on: January 19, 2018, 11:10:49 AM
It's a easy question:

Imagine 2 nodes, they two have different transactions on them.

Node B finish to mine the block first, it broadcasts it and the network accept it.

Would this node inmediately continue proof of work even if the transaction pool is empty?

What would happen if he mine the block and new transactions would come in? He would to start again with the new transaction because the tx are included in the block so the hash of the block changes, so he each time new tx are added the node has to restart the PoW, Right?

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Trying to understand proof of stake technically on: January 16, 2018, 02:12:17 PM
Hello, im a dev and i dont understand how I could implement a basic PoS system.

What I understood so far:

- The more stake, the more probabilities to "mine" a block
- Each node votes on other nodes to choose the node that can "mine" the block
- So what does really do the one that will mine the block? i've seen that hey have to do proof of work, and the difficulty is based on their the stake, the more stake the easier it is? But then this is hybrid, proof of stake and proof of work?

- How to control block creation time in this system?

Is there some technical guide or code example? Could anyone explain me better?

Thanks!
16  Bitcoin / Project Development / Browser games like ogame and cryptos on: January 16, 2018, 11:11:13 AM
Hey, how many of you played a browser game like ogame? Or another kind of game browser based? What if this game would be stored on top of blockchain and with a built-in cryptocurrency for the in-game economy. Lately this coin could be traded on exchangers giving the coin real value.

Would like to receive your feedback, if it's even worth to start something like this.

18  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Blockchain and updates on: January 16, 2018, 10:55:13 AM
Hello folks, got a small question.

Let's imagine I create a PoW coin, there jump in 50 miners (so 50 nodes). What would happen if I want to update the code?

- Miners can refuse to update? (that would create a fork?)
- And what if my cryptocurrency updates automatically? would this be correct? why isn't bitcoin doing this? (to avoid that miners refuse the update, or even remove the reward for nodes that are outdated, could this work?)

Thanks!
19  Economy / Trading Discussion / Transfer bitcoins on: January 12, 2018, 10:18:11 AM
Hello, i'm planning to build a long-term portfolio. The problem is, i don't want to purchase bitcoins on coinbase and then send them to an exchange cause of the high fees. My idea is just buy eth or ltc, send those to the exchange, and then exchange the ltc/eth to btc, and then buy my coins with btc, what do you think guys?
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / PoS Consensus implementation details on: January 10, 2018, 02:47:38 PM
Hello, finally ive understand the PoW algorithm, and could implement one, really easy though. I need information about PoS Algorithm.

I understand that, a node will have a address atached to it, and if this node has stake it will participate in the mining process, the more stake the more possibilities to "mine" a block, but in all explanations ive seen that miners have to search a find a hash below target having in count:

target = baseTarget * stake * timeSinceLastBlock

Is this not PoW?

Anyway, how to control the creation time of blocks?

Any help appreciated!
