7  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Bitcoin Dust on: August 18, 2020, 08:55:51 PM
Can someone explain this article in more simpler terms (maybe with examples/pictures?) I'm confused on how this makes it easier to track wallet addresses to IP addresses.

More specifically the following:

Entities conducting blockchain analytics may use dust to deanonymize users and their wallet addresses. The idea is to create enough deterministic links between the analysis firm’s wallets and the recipient addresses. Once these links are created, the firm can run analysis using the data it collects to trace IP addresses to the recipient wallets.

“When the dust is consolidated with the user’s other funds, it helps with chain analytics by making it easier to cluster addresses,”

8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Where did these Bitcoins end up? on: May 29, 2020, 06:46:23 PM
Tracking Ether transactions is easy....but I have no idea how to track Bitcoin transactions, I'm curious where these 99.99 BTC end up.

Full Disclosure: These were seized by the US Secret Service which is where the curiosity comes from.

Edit: Forgot to add the address lol

10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Trying to open wallet from 2013 on: March 12, 2020, 12:37:31 AM
I have a wallet.dat file from 2013 that I'm pretty sure is empty, but I'd like to try and get it open. I don't know where it came from, but I do have a 12 word seed phrase with it. I downloaded Bitcoin Core and synced 290GB or w/e it was entire blockchain. When I try to open it I get the following message. Any other ideas?

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What's going on with Binance and Steem? on: March 02, 2020, 09:36:45 PM
Can anyone explain this in simpler terms and or with knowledge of what took place?
Sounds like Binance used user funds to initiate a hard-fork on the Steem platform or am I making it sound too simple?

14  Economy / Digital goods / [WTS] Domain: on: February 05, 2020, 05:09:05 PM

Not sure if this is the correct board to get a interest/price check on this...
I've owned this domain for maybe two years. I had a simple price checking site live at one point. Not sure if this domain name holds any value because it's a .app site and I have no experience buying/selling domains. Any help is appreciated.

Was hoping for at least .05 BTC but I have no idea of value so..
15  Economy / Scam Accusations / [SCAM] Dignity (DIG) Token / Arbitrade on: January 31, 2020, 07:05:24 PM
The people following this coin know this already, but just in case anyone here invested in this coin and isn't aware of what's going on, here it is.

What happened:
This coin claimed to be backed by physical gold. Ronnie Moas recommended it to subscribers. Some people believe it's still happening. Currently under investigation by the FBI/SEC.
Latest situation: Someone minted 400 Million new coins this month and sold on (also a sketchy exchange)

16  Economy / Scam Accusations / SSH Wallet Scam? on: January 31, 2020, 05:32:05 PM
Not sure if this is widely known or not but I just saw this on Pastebin... and didn't see much on Google about it...

Someone posts an SSH IP and credentials on Pastebin and which makes it seem like an accident. The SSH credentials make it seem like you login to a wallet with Bitcoin in it. You try to withdraw to your own wallet and the following message shows up:

The entered address is either an invalid BTC address, or it is not a confirmed withdrawal address for your account.
If you would like to confirm this address you must deposit 0.01 BTC into your deposit address from the new withdrawal address.
The sending address will validate as soon as the transaction is confirmed. This confirmation is typically instant.
This process is an additional security measure for your account.

Obviously a scam.. I see 6 people fell for this with what I saw today.
