1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / AMD Beta Drivers Causing Rig Reboots on: September 19, 2017, 02:49:23 AM
Hey guys,

A few days after AMD released their beta version of their mining specific drivers, I installed them and was pleased with the results. Easily 10%+ in hashrate. The issue was that it was causing erratic reboots of the rig. I thought maybe it was a fluke, and so I tried it on another rig with similar results.

The rigs are both 8x gpu systems. Both use the Asus Prime z270-p boards, and both have lots of power 2x 1000w Evga Gold PSU's. Risers/cards are fine, as they have been running 2 weeks straight with old drivers. Both rigs are running Win 10.

My question is, do you think it could have been caused by the new drivers drawing more power than the previous ones? I did not change my undervolt settings. It is kinda the only thing that I can think of.

Anyone have any suggestions? Should I just wait for a more stable release?

Please, for everyone's sake - don't post the 1 line replies "bad riser" or "not enough power" no offense, but this isn't my first kick at the can. I can say with certainty it is not hardware related.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining Rig Random Reboots on: August 28, 2017, 12:54:34 PM
Hey guys!

Hoping some of you can help me out here. I'm having an issue with a rig. It was running solid for weeks on end. Then I updated to the new AMD Mining drivers, and it seemed stable for another week or so (don't believe it is the drivers). Now, I'm getting random reboots. System just shuts down.

Wondering if it could be a faulty PCI-E adapter or failing card. If I just let the system reboot, 1 card is not detected. If I turn off power completely, and bring it back up, it is detected.

I can mine for an hour, sometimes 4-5, but it always happens.

Any ideas?

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Where to Buy Bitcoin - Not including Coinbase with a CC? on: August 17, 2017, 07:27:08 PM
Hey guys!

I've been using Coinbase for sometime now, but I'm not too impressed with their weekly limits - even after providing my ID - I'm still locked in at $250 CDN per week. I'd like to purchase more.

Can anyone recommend a few places that can take a credit card, and preferably don't ask for ID?

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Nicehash vs Buying Coins vs Mining on: August 15, 2017, 08:35:45 PM
Hey guys!

I hope someone can shed some light on this for me. I'm mining atm with a small farm, but I'd like to expand a bit.
What are your thoughts on NiceHash?
More specifically - What is the benefit to using Nicehash versus just buying the coins on the market? For instance - If I wanted $3000 worth of Decred, I could either go to an exchange and buy it w bitcoin/ether or I could put that $3000 into Nicehash and buy hashing power, or I could further invest that $3000 into my operation and build a rig to mine that specific coin.

Thoughts, please

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [Guide] Converting BC/ETH/USD to Onion on: August 14, 2017, 06:41:56 PM
Hey guys!

I'm helping out the Onion team by sharing a newbie guide for those unsure of how to get the onions/coins. In the guide I basically show how to go from Cash/Coins -- Onions. Though, its pretty interchangeable to just about any coin, so I hope it can also serve as a standalone guide to getting involved with trading any coin.

Now that we have Deep Onion listed on an exchange (NovaExchange) It might be time to show people unfamiliar with exchanges how to obtain DeepOnion coins by converting either cash or another coin.

In this scenario - I started with Cash, but wanted Onions.

Step 1. If you do not already have an account with Coinbase, it is probably the easiest place to start (assuming you're starting point is cash, if you already hold another coin, skip this step). Visit (my aff link), add a funding method, and purchase either Bitcoin, or Ethereum.

Step 2. Open an account on

Step 3. Click on Wallets at the top of the NovaExchange site, from the dropdown, select Balances.

Step 4. Now that you're on the balances page, find the coin that you purchased from Coinbase - If Ethereum, look down the list, find Ethereum, and then click the + Icon to the left.

Step 5. On the popup window, copy the Address provided to you by Nova.

Step 6. Go back to your Coinbase account, and send your balance to Nova - For Ethereum, the Minimum send amount is 0.05 ETH.

Step 7. Once your Ethereum/Bitcoin is transferred to NovaExchange all that's left is to convert.

Step 8. Locate the Onion/Ethereum or Onion/Bitcoin exchange.

Step 9. Once on the proper exchange page for the currency you're using, simply do the exchange.

I have never been a fan of leaving a balance on Exchanges, so to finish this process off, I would suggest transferring the coins to the official Deep Onion Wallet. Then remember to stake those new coins and help the network!!

Hope this helps!!
If so, please feel free to donate some Onions - Dd3Kj6bLhiJfDBk8BBRqXsygnfPseigZhZ

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / MaxMiner Decrd Pool - No update to balances on: August 10, 2017, 06:03:57 PM
Hey guys,

Anyone using for their Decred pool? Been mining with them for 2 days now - 7k hashrate, and I'm not seeing any change to my balance - confirmed/not confirmed.

I see my stats in the dashboard. Though, I can't find my account name in the pool stats.

Am I missing something?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Decred Mining with MaxMiners.Net - No balance on: August 10, 2017, 02:58:53 PM
Hey guys,

I recently pulled the plug on my rigs and have switched most of them away from SIA coin to Decred. I opted to go with MaxMiners for my pool, as nano doesn't seem to support Decred(?)

My issue is that its been running for about 2 days now @ about 7k Mh/s I see the hashrate in my dash. I see the rigs as online, and working. Yet my confirmed/unconfirmed balance is still sitting at 0.00000

Is it possible that I missed something in my Claymore config? The guide I watched did not indicate that I had to add a wallet address to the Claymore config, but instead just add my login details for MaxMiners.

I just checked now, I'm not even seeing my account being listed in the Round Shares/Transactions.

Any help would be awesome, thanks!
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Your thoughts on SIA Coin [SC] on: August 08, 2017, 09:38:27 PM
Like most of you, I was introduced to SIA Coin as a secondarily mined coin to Ethereum via Claymores Dualminer software. On the premise, I thought it was awesome. Good technology, small but good team, I see a market for it, and I can see why people would choose it over AWS from a cost/security perspective.

Heck, I was even ready to pull the trigger on pre-ordering 2 Obelisk (their ASIC Miners).

That said, I'm starting to have my doubts. Their coins haven't surpassed $0.01 since all coins were waaaay up about 2 months back. Even then, they weren't what I'd consider "high". My issue is that there appears to be little to no marketing despite having a working platform. The UI seems horrendous, albeit I've not used it, outside of the wallet part.

I understand this is never going to be a $50 coin, but some movement would be nice...

What are your thoughts?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Asus Prime Z270-P 8th GPU Problems on: August 08, 2017, 08:26:09 PM
Hey guys

Working on a rig here, and can't seem to get my 8th GPU working properly. Seems to be an issue when installing the last (8th) card. Windows detects it, no issue in that, but when I launch Claymore it locks up with a "Thread Stuck in Device Driver" Windows error.

Kind of at a loss. Tried different card, M.2 adapter, and riser - so I know it isn't that. On board graphics disabled, 4G enabled, PCIe set to GEN 1, most recent BIOS installed.

I have lots of power too - 2k watts.

Any ideas?

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Alt Coin Wallet Suggestions on: August 05, 2017, 05:35:01 PM
Hey guys!

Please excuse me if this is posted elsewhere in this forum, but I was curious if there was a recommended wallet that is capable of holding multiple or all the alt coins that are out there?

For instance, I have SIA, Onion, ETH, and ODN (still in ICO), and I'm currently using a wallet for each coin. Would be nice to have them all in the same place, while I get that it could/would decrease the security by centralizing all together, but it would be a lot easier to manage.

Anyway, if it exists, any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Ram & Hashrates on: July 21, 2017, 02:49:44 PM
Built a rig with 2 x 4GB sticks of ram. Due to a mix-up, I needed to use one of those sticks. Yanked one, then fired up the rig and noticed the hashrate had dropped about 1.5Mh/s per card. Dual-mining, and it also dropped on the second coin.

I was under the impression that only 4GB was needed, but maybe that was for 6 cards, I'm using 8 gpus.

Can anyone confirm?
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / BIOS Not showin on: July 19, 2017, 12:52:18 AM
Running an MSI Z170A M5 Gaming mobo, 8 GPUs, Windows 10 UEFI mode, and I cannot seem to access my BIOS or even see the splash screen- System boots straight to windows, regardless of which card happens to be plugged into my monitor. Am I missing something?
17  Economy / Exchanges / Poloniex noob questions on: July 18, 2017, 10:30:54 PM
Hi guys,

Noob question, but generally speaking - how long does it take for a transfer to take from a wallet to Poloniex. Also, once I convert ETH to Bitcoin, then sell, any idea how long it takes to then get the cash out? I assume that Bank transfer is the only option?
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / M.2 on MSI Z170A M5 not showing up on: July 17, 2017, 03:50:02 PM
Hey guys!

I hope someone can help. I'm running an MSI z170A M5 Motherboard. I have the most recent BIOS installed, running 8 GPU's now 7 via PCIE + 1 via M.2 to PCIE adapter. I'm not having any luck getting a 9th via the second M.2 -- PCIE. I'm wondering if I'm fighting a lost cause here? Has anyone had any success with this setup? Running Windows 10, have verified that the adapter, riser, and card are working. Just not when plugged into the second M.2 slot.

Any help would be great, thanks!
