When I wake up my Linux rig from hibernate, my manual fan speed is erased, and goes back to the normal 20 or 30% Will using something like AMDOverdriveCtrl prevent this? Or any other way? Something to set the fan speed at 100% ALWAYS.

Hi guys,

I just added a Sapphire 5830 into my rig with a 6990 and 2 6870s in it. Using Windows 7 64bit, 11.6, and poclbm.

Poclbm recognizes the card and I can mine with it at stock, 250mh/s at 800mhz core.

However, when I touch ANYTHING on Afterburner on that card's settings, it'll lock up my computer and I have to reboot. Don't know why.

Anyone have the same problem?

Is the only reason for doing this to lower temp? Or is it true that it increases mhash?

I can't do it in Afterburner anyway, if I try to set it to a lower mem clock it and apply it, it doesn't actually apply, it just shows stock speed in the afterburner graph.

Is it worth it for me to go through all that trouble to lower mem speed?

So I've been trying to get this to work for 3 days now, and this is really frustrating me. What I want to do is to run the miner upon startup. This is for Ubuntu.

So first I went into System > Startup Applications and then selected all my miners. I have 4 files in my home folder that I run to mine. (./Mine1, ./Mine2, ./Mine3, ./Mine4) This doesn't work. Nothing happens when I login.

Then I tried to put those 4 files into Home/User/.Config/Autostart This still doesn't work. I then tried to change the default program to open txt files from gedit to gnome-terminal, but it still doesn't work.

So I'm about to go on vacation. I wanted to ask the community if there's any way of "remotely mining".

First of all, can you turn on a computer remotely at all? If you can, is it possible to control it completely, such as telling it to mine? Or is it only possible by something like...say a script?

My plan is to turn on the computer and tell it to mine from about 5pm - 10am the next day, and turn off the rest of the hours because it'll probably get too hot. If I could control it completely that would be great. If you can't would a script like this be possible?

Start the script at exactly 10am. Tell it to turn on in 7 hours (which would be 5pm)
*mining script and everything
Tell it to turn off in 17 hours. (which is 10am)
Repeat?

Now that I think about it, I don't think there's a way of turning the computer off and still running a script. Instead of turning off, maybe something like hibernate?

So two days ago I needed to sell some of my coins. I had my wallet encrpted in a USB drive, so I decrypted it and put it back in the appdata folder. Everything came up fine. Now of course since it hasn't been online for about a month, it hadn't had all the blocks downloaded. I didn't think that would be a problem because the rest of the network would know, idk why I was thinking that though. So I sent 10 BTC to Mt. Gox, without downloading the block chain. I checked my wallet again today and theres still 0 confirmations. Did I have to wait for all the blocks to download before I sent the transaction? Did I just lose my 10 BTC?

So my main rig right now has a 6990 and 6870 right now. I'm planning to use cablesaurus' adapters to put in 3 more 5830's. My question is will the 5xxx series and the 6xxx series work together? Right now im using Windows 7.

I remember a month ago I tried to put a 6990 and 5850 together, but it wouldn't work (I don't remember why though). Would say...switching to Linux help?

Right now I've got 4 5850's running on a Corsair 950watt power supply. I'm thinking about getting cablesaurus' extenders to utilize the 5th pci-e slot and one of the pci slots, and using a second psu to lower them, for a total of 6 cards. If I put 3 5850's and 3 5830's on it, how much wattage would the second power supply have to be?

So...am I doing this right? What I did:

1. Turn off Bitcoin.

2. Copy the wallet.dat file.

3. I used Winrar to make an encryption.

4. Copy that encrypted file to a safe place.

5. Delete the original wallet.dat file. (I won't lose anything right?)

Then when I need to spend, unencrypt the file and put it back into the roaming folder right?

I've transferred some funds from my bank using Dwolla to Mt.Gox. I did this on 6/11, which was a Saturday. I think it's supposed to take three business days, so it was supposed to get there yesterday, but even now it's still not confirmed. My Dwolla transaction says it's still pending, and the "expected clearing date" was yesterday...How much longer do I have to wait?

So it looks like we are going to hit the 1mil difficulty rate next week

I paid out from deepbit today, because I had to switch there for a while due to BTCGuild having problems. I paid out almost 12 hours ago, still 0 confirmations. I purposely mined on it again for an hour so I could pay out again. The second payout was 8 hours after the first, and already has 10 confirmations. What's going on? Do I just have to wait longer or did I lose my BTC?

So I've got this one 6-pin 5850. I'm wondering how many I could actually run on a 950w power supply.

Right now, I've got 4 normal 5850's on a Corsair TX950. They use two 6-pins. So I'm guessing i could fit maybe...6 of the one pin ones?

What about 5770's? Do they use the same power draw if they have the same number of connectors (1 6 pin)? Would this mean that I could use 3 5770s and 3 5850s?
