1  Bitcoin / Mining / Why not submit STALE shares?? [SOLVED] on: May 27, 2013, 04:05:06 PM
In cgminer you can have the option to NOT submit stale shares...is there any reason why you would submit stale shares? Does it affect mining or income?

I would like pros and cons please!  Currently I have the argument to NOT submit stales, no reason really just because.  However, I would like to know more. Thank you.
2  Bitcoin / Mining / MSI Afterburner vs. Sapphire TriXX Q&A? Suggestions? on: May 12, 2013, 04:32:24 PM
I've been using AB for about 3 months now with 4 cards and I like it. It allows me to overclock, monitor temps, and set a fixed fan speed.

AB
PROS-
nice GUI  Cheesy
can save profiles Smiley
monitor temps in system tray or task bar (whatever thats called) Grin
make custom fan speeds Smiley

CONS-
can't OC more than Trixx Angry
takes longer to switch between cards

I've used Trixx for about 2 days and it seems to do everything AB does with a little extra.

PROS-
same as AB (except monitor temps outside or program) Undecided
can over clock some cards MORE than in AB, for example.  Grin
(5850 in AB can only OC to Core:749MHz or so in TriXX: Core:1000MHz) what's up with that?
allows me to change VDDC? whatever that is. (haven't used it) Huh
Allow more custom fan options. Cheesy
cleaner and easier interface Grin
drop down in main window to switch between cards!!

CONS-
doesn't have option to monitor temps in the task bar only in the program interface (that I know of)
that's about it.

What do YOU miners prefer AB or Trixx??? Huh Huh
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Triplemining Minipool? Join mine! on: May 06, 2013, 12:01:59 AM
I started mining a couple of months ago mostly testing the waters with different pools. I found Triplemining to be an interesting concept. I use both Bitminter and Triplemining as my main pools.
the difference with Triplemining is that you can start your own Minipool and combine resources with friends. what this does and the benefit is that your pool win be entered into contests for BTC and if you win you split the winnings with your pool.

If anyone is interested in joining my Minipool on Triplemining follow my pool link in my signature block. thanks.

if anyone has any questions let me know.
4  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Muti-GPU -- Muti-series Mining Rig- Possible? on: May 04, 2013, 03:42:18 AM
So, I've acquired from varies people some AMD graphics cards, specifically a Sapphire 7770 GHz Edition, Sapphire HD 6870, XFX HD 5850.  Is it possible to install all of the following cards in the same rig and mine with them?

I've heard that it's highly recommended you stick with the same series cards, but is it a necessity? Can I successfully run a 5XXX, 6XXX, and 7XXX series card all on the same mining rig?

I made a half-hearted attempt to get the 7770 and the 6870 to function together, but didn't work.  The 7770 was mining at 217 mh/s and the 6870 @ 34-52 mh/s, which I know isn't correct.

Any thoughts or suggestions? thank you.

5  Other / Beginners & Help / GUIminer BACKUP POOL SETUP Q&A! UPDATED-RESOLVED! on: April 28, 2013, 04:37:33 PM
So I've been using GUIminer for a couple of months and have finally found the flags that work best for me.

Flags:  -v -w128 -f1

Can someone explain HOW to setup a backup pool GUIminer? Do I add it to the flags, for example:
-v -w128 -f1 -backup http://user:pass@YOURMINEPOOL.com:8332 or
-v -w128 -f1 --backup http://user:pass@YOURMINEPOOL.com:8332 (with 2 dashes)

or something completely different, like adding it to a file in the GUIminer folder? I haven't found any conclusive evidence on this...some suggested using cgminer, but I really want to use GUIminer.

PLEASE Help! Thank you.

The reason I'm asking is because BT Guild has been experiencing issues and they keep cutting out, basically I have my computer on for no reason and wasting electricity NOT mining.

FYI-- A 100% correct (provable) answer WILL BE rewarded with BTC, if I can prove that it works!
6  Other / Beginners & Help / COINBASE - Selling control? Shady? on: April 25, 2013, 09:18:59 PM
So I've been monitoring BTC to USD exchange, and have been waiting for BTC to drop before I buy from Coinbase.  Now the interesting thing I've noticed is that for a short time, when BTC drops in price, Coinbase is unable to allow  me to buy BTC because "we have exceeded the maximum allowable buy limit.." In so many words they've sold their limit for a 24 hour period.

Now that is understandable, however I've noticed something very suspicious with this. When the price goes back up, I'm miraculously able to buy BTC despite the "limit" for the 24 hour period.  And when it drops, they've exceeding their selling limit.

So this leads me to 2 conclusions.  1. They are manipulating their systems to NOT sell temporarily, when BTC price dips to prevent them from losing money. 2. 1000s of other people are doing exactly what I'm doing and buying all at the same time, thus causing them to exceed their selling limit.  Now, that doesn't explain how I can somehow buy BTC when the price shoots up the moment the price goes up despite the 24 hour "restriction.

Any thought? Or someone experiencing the same issues? or Not?
7  Other / Beginners & Help / e-wallet for Namecoins? on: April 24, 2013, 08:20:43 PM
I'm using bitminter and getting namecoins along with bitcoins...the problem is I don't know where to store my namecoins, their value (USD) and where to convert into money?

Anyone have suggestions? thanks!
