1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cryptopia - how to recover BTC? on: July 09, 2019, 02:46:54 PM
I apologize if there are other threads on this but I either couldn’t find them or am not great at searching.

I’ve been out of Crypto for a while now after having an unhealthy obsession in the year before the big crash.  Finally starting to ease back in and realized I stupidly left half a BTC on Cryptopia.

I see that they were hacked out of a bunch of ether, but my BTC should still be intact right?   Anyone have any updates or know how I could try to request a transfer of my BTC?  I don’t care about any of my other shit tokens on there, just want my BTC.

I know this was a careless and stupid decision so no need to rehash that.  Thanks in advance for any assistance.
2  Other / Meta / The Disconnect Between Bounty Campaigns and the Goal to Improve Post Quality on: March 04, 2018, 04:02:03 PM
Obviously with the new merit system, the site administrators are aiming to minimize spam and/or worthless posts and increase quality posts that encourage discussion.  Well as I was recently looking for a new bounty campaign to participate in, I noticed more and more of these programs have changed their requirements from the historical 10 posts/week to now 15 posts/week.  Obviously this encourages low quality posts as I think it’s near impossible for someone to come up with 15 thoughtful posts per week, in particular as the bounties require all posts to be in the Altcoins section.

If the goal of the site is to improve post quality, there really needs to be restrictions on these bounty programs.  A limit on weekly post requirements for one and perhaps also standardized minimum character requirements that are higher than the 50-70 character requirements of most bounties.

I’m positive if bounty guidelines were set so that no campaign can require more than 5 posts per week and a minimum of say 100 characters, the quality of discussion in the growing alt boards would signicantly improve.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Any promising upcoming ICOs that are not tokens of an existing platform? on: December 07, 2017, 09:34:54 PM
New platforms, forks, etc.?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Help with restoring NEM wallet please on: December 06, 2017, 04:33:14 AM
I accidentally deleted the NEM app from my iphone and now I can't restore my old wallet.  I have the address and the password that I set on the app but not the private key.  Am I screwed?  Please help.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / EXRN on: October 12, 2017, 07:00:32 PM
Can't find the thread for EXRN, but just wondering if it will ever hit etherdelta or this one dead on arrival?   It appears to have been sent to over 1400 addresses on etherscan.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why do most ICOs distribute tokens so early? on: July 20, 2017, 03:30:53 PM
Wouldn't it make more sense for tokens to be distributed several weeks after the ICO and in waves rather than immediately and all at once?  This seems like would make it less likely that a large number of coins would be dumped right after the ICO tanking the price.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What to look for when verifying an address isn't a scam? on: July 18, 2017, 03:52:13 PM
A few people posted in the Coindash announcement thread that if investors had used Etherscan on the address, they would have noticed something was wrong.  Would someone please explain what investors should be looking for to verify an address?  I would have replied in the Coindash thread but it's a total shit show over there.  Thanks
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Characteristics of a successful ICO and Populous on: July 15, 2017, 04:18:56 PM
I've been following the ICOs very closely for the last month and invested in 5 or 6.  It seems pretty much all the ICOs in the last month have been successful for the companies but not for investors, with the exception of Populous.  What was different about Populous that resulted in the post ICO price increasing?

As far as I can tell they used a similar crowdfunding model with a pre-ico and bounties.  They seem to have a legit idea for making money and a decent team, but so do several other ICOs that haven't faired well. They went to exchanges quickly like the other ICOs.  So what was different about this particular offering that they could make money for investors when the rest of the crypto markets are trending down?
