1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Is it safe to make direct payment from my Hardware Wallet on: March 20, 2018, 07:03:54 AM
I got ripped off from using Green Wallet.  I put some money into green wallet and use it for making purchasing.  I never got a change to setup a mnemonics password.  Forgot my regular password, Greenwallet deleted my password after three trials, now I couldn't access to my bitcoin...

I had used Breadwallet for a long time, but their fee was outrageous ($17 fees for $15 transactions)

Long story short:  I've been avoiding making payment derectly from my  Nano Ledger Hardware Wallet for security and avoiding losing all my bitcoins...

1). Giving the fact that I lost my bitcoin (being stuck in GreenWallet with no Mnemonic password).  High fees on breadwallet, I now contemplate in making payment directly from my HW wallet - is it a good pratice ?

2). What about using the Bitcoin core node wallet ?  I've been running a bitcoin core node, but I haven't gotten time to learn blockchain basic programming.  I could create a wallet on my bitcoin blockchain node.  But I read some where, that it's not good practice to run my bitcoins wallet on bitcoin node for security reason, until I become sufficient in blockchain programming...

Any one has any advice ? Thank you in advance for your input.
2  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Bitcoin core full node inbound cannot be reach on: March 15, 2018, 02:33:24 AM
Hi All:

It’s been a while since I was on this forum last:

I finally got my computer to run bitcoin core full node on my home computer.  I think it works ok judging from the debug window where the number of connections is at (In: 8 / Out:8 ) .  Also, on the debug.log I could see a lots of activities going on.  However, when I run the bitnodes to check if my node accepts incoming connections, it shown that my IP address is “unreachable” ?

Also, I’m kind of new to running core full node.  Could somebody give me some links to websites for tutoring on how to use the full node (how to use, not setup).  I intend to leave my laptop on all the time.  is there any security or equipment concerns from leaving the node running around the clock in my house ? By the way this is a mac computer.

Thank you in advance for your input.

Cheers,

D
3  Economy / Service Discussion / Antminer S9 only $1995 on their website. Why so high on Amazon... on: January 10, 2018, 01:48:36 PM

4  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Anyone whose own some fair amount of bitcoins should also own a mining machine on: January 09, 2018, 06:05:45 AM
Considering the big threat of decentralization of bitcoin blockchain.  Doesn't it make a lot of sense for people whose a fair amount of bitcoin should at least operate one bitcoin miner machine ?  Considering the high fee and transactions unconfirmed...I am so sick of it and on the verge of pulling the trigger in purchasing one bitcoin miner for my home residence.  I'm not talking about running it for profit or as a business...I'll be happy to break even and accumulate some bitcoin to HODL !! Don't we want to take control of our bitcoin investment and its future ? We wouldn't have the high fee stuck on the blockchain of unconfirmed transactions.

Imagine million of bitcoin owner now could operate our own miner and have a stake in determining the bitcoin/ blockchain  future ?? People are complaining about the problem that bitcoin facing but yet they wouldn't lift their finger to do anything...

Can somebody here, whose running their single miner in their own private home - please share us the detail and how you are making it !!

Anybody whose own 10 or more bitcoins should buy one miner machine - what do you think ?
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Will having my own miner rig help mysel accelerate unconfirmed transactions on: January 06, 2018, 06:09:52 AM
The amount of unconfirmed transactions have gotten really ridiculous !  With the price of bitcoin bouncing back and the increase in traffic will not going to reduce the amount of stuck tx...

I myself has gotten My bitcoins held hostage on the blockchain currently due to the scam from CEX.IO exchange.  I'm so sick of this and seriously considering buying my own miner and push my own transaction through -  is it something that can be possibly done ??

I have been toying with this idea for a long time now...i don't necessarily want to have a career in doing mining, but if something simple enough for me to turn it on let it run on its own and requires minimum amount of time on my part, I'd like to do it...

1). I consider buying one Avalon 741 setup and let it run by itself.   Even if I don't make any profit and just breaking it even (with my expenses) - so long as I don't end up loosing money I should be ok with it...

2). When the  people making the calculation for the profit of mining bitcoins, I assume that they are basing it on the current value of bitcoin.  I don't see enough of the discussion about the future price increase in bitcoin- isn't it another way to invest in bitcoin ?  Just keep any bitcoin that I mined and HODL and consider it as an investment for the value increase.

3). I live in northern CA, what about the energy consumsion in the residential home, any registration or complications ?

[adding texts]. I think each serious bitcoin holder should own at least one mining rigg ?

Any information provided will be greatly appreciated.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / My Bitcoins stuck (unconfirmed) on blockchain can somebody please help ? on: December 31, 2017, 06:07:12 PM
I transferred my bitcoins from CEX.io to Gemini exchange but it has been stuck unconfirmed on blockchain for a while... the fee was supposed to ~ $110, but it has been over 8 hours.  Can some good miners on this community help ?

I believe the tx number is:

 e7651c62ed1b693a561b36f319de0184ee6ea408654994d1282279a2eace985c

Thank you in advance for all your help - and happy new years to all !
7  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / at&t ISP cannot setup bitcoin core full node due to income block on: December 06, 2017, 05:47:06 PM
I've been trying to setup my Mac computer to run bitcoin core full node but I simply cannot get around the in-bound blocking by AT&T ISP...

I've done some research and it appears that many people whose use AT&T are facing the same issue.  The router is ARRIS NVG589.

I am trying to avoid contact AT&T because they have been useless in supporting.  Some suggest to use Tor or Torrent but I'm not quite sure how to go about to accomplish that task ?

Thank you in advance for you help !
8  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / 10 minutes blockchain vs difficulty level on: November 27, 2017, 06:34:28 AM
I apologize if I ask the following  obvious questions and perhaps risk wasting everyone's time.  But, I have these nagging questions for a while now:

1).  As I understand it, the 10 minutes delay is to create a new block that there's enough/ sufficient time to fill and confirm the transactions (globally).  But isn't it quite wasteful to keep adjusting the difficulty level to maintain the 10 minutes delay ?  What is so special about the 10 minutes delay?  Has there been any study to quantify more accurately the amount of time to reach the nodes globally ?

2). Let say if we don't have to worry about the trust issue,  in theory we only need one, or perhaps two confirmations right ?  So for the remaining 51% confirmations is essentially to ensure that there's  no cheating could happen.  I got that so far...

3). But what if we could accomplish item#1 and #2 in 5 minutes, 3 minutes or even 30 seconds - shouldn't that be a good thing ?  Why make it more difficult, delay until 10 minutes and empowering expensive equipment ? That seems to feed into the endless cycles of who's got bigger and faster mining capability?  Understand that it seems to justify the rise in bitcoin price...

4). What about making the 51st % node (with the longest chain) to be a lucky lottery winner and avoid increasing the difficulty level and eliminate  the need for fancy equipment and energy burning all together -wouldn't that be more fair and efficient ways to utilize energy and resources ? At the same time avoiding the centralization of miners all together ??

I am guessing that this is too simple and too good to be true - but I have to ask...

Thank you in advance for your reply/ input !

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / If you trade BTC and the transaction get stuck "unconfirmed" here's help on: November 12, 2017, 06:00:27 PM
Due to the attack on the Blockchain network, which has slowed down the transactions  on BTC trading, there may be a good decent person whose  could help in boosting you transaction.

I just saw this on another post and just want to spread the good will.  BTC owners:  please stay strong and firm, we have come a long way.  This is just one of the bump among many others yet to come ahead of us along this journey.
