1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Help: Asus Z87- K and C both have issues when mining on: February 12, 2014, 02:36:24 PM
I got all sorts of mobos mining. MSI, EVGA, gigabyte... all never give me issues like these 2 versions of asus mobos do.

consistant crashing of mining, one of them when used to mine, the system clock actually slows down. Yes, that is right, SLOWS DOWN. When I reboot the clock would of course reset.... but once you start mining, it takes a poo.

I ran 207x's in both of them. I could not get anything stable in either of them. Even defualt settings. I eventually ended up taking out the gpu engine and mem flags out of the conf file, but then your looking at ~300k hash each. That is total garbage.

SO with that said, I am going to try switching out cards and see if maybe my 7850s will play nice in there....I ended up moving the C version to my main rig for I dont mine on that one ( gaming and everyday usuage ).... but I ended up getting a K version and its been nothing short of shit.... unless someone knows a reason WHY it would be doing this... that would help but ATM looks like I got another paper weight. I might take it back to the store too because well... its shit.

Quick note:

It would seem like the drivers crash when mining .... why that would be I have no idea...if I cant even run a 1050/1400 which is stock speeds for the GPUs... what is the point? Ive tried all sorts of stuff including re installing windows, win 8.1... I may "try" windows 7 and see what happens if it gives the 7850s issues but really... I though asus was the king of mobos, though I never had any luck with them sense the sckt 754 days.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Its happening.... Cryptsy is not dominate exchange on CoinWarz on: February 06, 2014, 08:29:45 PM
I personally think this is a great thing too. 3 out of the top 10 on Coinwarz is Cryptsy.

All I have to say the ball is now in Cryptsy's court. They have to keep the exchange moving smoothly and fix problems in a timely manner.

What stuff you might say? Well for starters, coins that people deposit, taking forever to show up into their account. It seems everyday its a new coin that has an issue for me. Today its CASH. I was smart this time and only sent 1 coin there and 8 hours now it still is a no show.

People will start to move away Cryptsy. I know if I can get a similar price elsewhere I would trade elsewhere knowing that the problems will be limited. I have never had issues with any exchange with deposits showing up .

Im not bashing Cryptsy ... well I am a bit I guess... but much of it is their own doing. For the sake of the community I hope they step up to the plate. They been here from the time of the alt explosion...
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Why is it one slot always has lower WU than the other? on: February 01, 2014, 12:24:29 AM
Why is it one slot always has lower WU than the other?

Its seems like every mobo is that way. It does not matter if its got 3 pcie slots or 2 pcie slots. Always one slot WU is much lower than the other(s).

Ive tried everything I could think of. A lot of times it can be over 150k less than the other cards.

Any input would help

BTW this one is of xfx 7850's but my xfx 270's do the very same thing. All dif mobos and ram configs too.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What a difference a version number on video card can make. on: December 18, 2013, 01:00:40 AM
My gosh. The 270x's have been pretty easy to get here locally. I have this thing about getting stuff like this locally if I can if the price is around what I could get online.

With that said, the Best buy here has been selling the XFX R9 270x's for around 230 bucks and I dont think that is all bad. Now here is the funny thing. I bought 5 of these cards, and noticed on my last pick up that these ones were VS 2.0, I went home and looked at the other boxes and they were vs 1. the heatsink of course is not the same ect ect... and think the version 2 looks a lot better.

Anyways, I get em set up, now with the vs one cards, Ill be damn if I can get the stupid things to go over 430kh ... I have played around with them a ton. Another thing I noticed was that when I up the mem clock, they hash goes up, but as soon as I move the GPU speed up it hurts and the hash goes down, so I end up underclocking the GPU and upping the mem speed on them.

Then, I get the vs 2 going, they are the exact opposites of the vs 1's. The only thing is that when i bump up the memclock, it does not seem to do a whole heck of a lot. On the other hand when I go with upping the GPU speed the speed increases a ton. I was just amazed. Those right now are hitting around 470khash, and I could get more but giving some time to settle to make sure. Plus they run about 5 to 7 C cooler than the vs 1.

With that said, any clues on if maybe it might be the bios in the vs 1? I have never in my life flashed a video card before... how hard is it to do and do you think maybe that is what the hold up is on the vs 1 cards?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Can I mine at P2P pools with cgminer? on: December 11, 2013, 09:54:56 PM
Pretty much what the topic says. I can not for the life of me get cgminer to run at all when I mine at a p2p pool.

I have tried using the cgminer.conf setup:

{
"pools" : [
   {
      "url" : "Whateverpooladdyis",
      "user" : "Thegeneratedwalletaddy",
      "pass" : "x"
   },
   {
      "url" : "stratum+tcp://backup-pool1.com:3333",
      "user" : "lurkmore.1",
      "pass" : "x"
   }
],

"intensity" : "16,16",
"scrypt" : true,
"thread-concurrency" : "11000,11000",
"worksize" : "256,256",

"kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin"

That above crashes. Works fine if I enter a normal user name for a regular pushpool or whatever.

The same thing happens too when I try a .batch file also.

So how do I get this to work?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Which one should I get (video cards) on: December 09, 2013, 10:28:56 PM
I finally just got me some ATI cards. I have been attempting, and failing , to mine on Nvidia for over a year now.

With that said, I recently went to best buy the other day, here is what I got:

1x XFX - Radeon R7 260 Double D Edition 2GB DDR5
1x XFX - Radeon R9 270X 2GB DDR5 PCI
3x XFX - Ultra OC Radeon 7850 1GB DDR5

To be honest, the 260 is really garbage. I think the thing only pushes 160khash money wasted.

Now, the 270x I have managed to get working @ around 420-450khash. Price at best buy is 230.00
The 7850's around 350khash and price of this is 160.00

With that said, I know that just because it gets more hash/s does not mean its cost effective.... so seeing how its 70 bucks more for the 270x I am unsure if getting one or 2 more of those would make sense or if I should go and get more of the 7850's.

I know I may be able to buy them cheaper online, but best buy I think has a online price match type thing that I really have not looked into yet, but the stores usually carry a limited amount of choices so I am sure those prices are pretty close to be even. I also like being able to go right back to the store to return an item if it is defective... with online only lord knows how long you may have to wait for the item to come back, that is even if they replace it.

So what you guys think?

BTW I was a fool waiting for so long to get these cards, I finally turned in some coins to make some money now I am re investing it
7  Economy / Trading Discussion / So all my greendot prepaid cards got closed... on: December 04, 2013, 01:10:23 AM
I recently discovered that I had a goo chunk n Atl coin that came strong vs the BTC so I converted of course Smiley

Anyways, I been selling the BTC for money pac cards. All has gone fine and well the first day or 2 until last night and today.
They locked all my cards.
I then called each card to unlock and the messages on all 3 of them more or less said "due to recent activity on your card, we have decided to close your cards... please press star to unlock, but you can not add more money onto the cards."
So now I have still close to 4 BTC I need to cash out. I am wondering how to do this. I have set up a coinbase account and linked to the bank account, and I am waiting on the deposits that they do to confirm the account...
Another thing I worry about is if I do transfer the cash from there to the bank account, will it actually be accepted....I never used anything like this and its still a rather large amount of cash ( hey at least to me )

Any ideas would help. I hate paypal because I trust them as far as I can throw a 400 pound woman. They messed with me a while back by holding funds while they "investigated" all my sales which more or less froze the whole account and the funds were released slowly by each sale they found out was okay.

I also have done 2 WU transactions for about 1500 total in the last day... I dont know how picky they are about flagging people.
I also have done 1 moneygram for 1800... again I dont know how they are about doing multiple transactions or getting large amounts of money in a short time.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Help a newb compile. on: June 12, 2013, 07:47:12 PM
Not sure if this is the proper place to post this but here it goes anyways :

So I have been trying to learn how to compile and figure out certain errors.

I have re installed windows. Now I am in the process of trying to get all the stuff installed so I can start compiling the various wallets out there.

I have followed these steps:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=149479.0

I have gotten up to the 2.3 step where you start to bootstrap.bat mingw

The CMD keeps telling me this error:

C:\deps\boost_1_53_0>bootstrap.bat mingw
Building Boost.Build engine
'gcc' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Failed to build Boost.Build engine.
Please consult bootstrap.log for furter diagnostics.

You can try to obtain a prebuilt binary from

   http://sf.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=7586&package_id=72941

Also, you can file an issue at http://svn.boost.org
Please attach bootstrap.log in that case.

I have installed this on my computer once before. I am not 100% sure if I did it right the first time lol.

I also have one question on adding the MinGW bin folder to the path environment. I just put it on the end of the line like this " \C:\MinGW\bin "
That should be okay right?

Op system is Windows 7.
I plan on moving to another Op system soon but I need to learn that too.
