1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Mt. Gox Repayment amidst Bitcoin Decline on: July 09, 2024, 06:12:02 AM
Mt. Gox has started repayments in Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash. It is not specified just exactly how much have been distributed and how much there is left however the decline of price of Bitcoin these previous days can be attributed back to this.

Additionally, Germany have also sold a huge chunk of their seized bitcoin in an operation against a piracy site last active almost over a decade ago. The exact reason why is unclear however many suspects that Germany is trying to liquidate the Bitcoins they hold to stabilize their economy. Despite a huge sell out, Germany still holds almost 30,000 bitcoins.

These two events contribute to the decline of bitcoin's price. Frantic investors have all sold their bitcoin in fear but if you know better, you know this is the right time to buy and accumulate as much bitcoin as you can.

The Adam Project, Back to the Future, Click, and many more.

We, humans, have always been interested with time travel and constantly have made fictional works about it. I just watched the movie The Adam Project today and I thought about two things: one of course is bitcoin. If time travel exists somewhere in the future, I would definitely go back and tell my younger self to invest in bitcoin right away.

Now, the second thing I wondered about is how is it that with these many movies about time travel and so many explanations regarding how it works…. We still have not done it yet? I don’t think we’ve ever been even close.

Do you think time travel is truly possible? And if it is, do you think we are close to inventing it?
3  Economy / Speculation / Road to 100k? on: March 11, 2024, 01:47:04 PM
We have seen Bitcoin reach 70k USD and it even reached a point of 71k briefly. We are seeing history being made right here with the new all time high being set once again and it is happening even before halving.

I have high expectations that bitcoin will reach 100k but will it reach 100k without any major decline in price? Does it seem realistic that from 70k, bitcoin will continuously rise up?
4  Other / Off-topic / Dream country on: February 24, 2024, 03:50:58 PM
Does anyone else have a dream country to just visit someday or maybe live in?

Personally, one of my dreams is to visit Europe. I would love to visit multiple countries all in one trip. I am thinking maybe I will spend a week or so and I would take the train just to see different countries.

Aside from visiting Europe, I would really want to live in there. I do not have a specific european country in mind yet but I just know living in Europe would be a dream come true.
5  Other / Off-topic / Hamilton to Ferrari on: February 01, 2024, 10:09:29 PM
Any F1 fans here? What do you guys think about Lewis Hamilton finally joining Ferrari for next season?

We know that Ferrari has been a power house since the beginning and they have held multiple amazing drivers like Schumacher, Alonso, and Vettel and now Hamilton is added to the list personally I am quite excited about the next season I would love to see the duo of Leclerc and Hamilton, both being excellent drivers

Do you think Ferrari can finally win a championship after so long or will Hamilton have yet another disappointing year of losing to Verstappen?

Bitcoin Store Operator Lost Investors $40 mln: Reports

Investors in fraudulent Bitcoin exchange operator Renwick Haddow’s businesses are coming forward as losses worth millions of dollars surface.

As United Arab Emirates news resource The National reports Tuesday, those who contributed funds to Haddow’s schemes have all but lost everything.

Haddow is now in police custody after Interpol issued a warrant for his arrest last week. Police found him in Morocco after the US Securities and Exchange Commission said he had committed securities fraud.

“So many others have fallen into this trap,” Kamal Singh, who took out a bank loan worth $90,000 to invest in Haddow’s Bar Works project told the publication. “We only knew of the involvement of Renwick Haddow after the problems started.”

Haddow had purported to run a cryptocurrency exchange under the name of Bitcoin Store. According to the SEC, the business never became “profitable,” with investor funds being diverted elsewhere.

From its genesis in 2015, the ‘exchange’ had only received $250,000 in inbound transfers.

Bar Works meanwhile illicitly sold work space to residents in countries all over the world, including the US, Singapore and Turkey.

In total, Haddow is suspected of conning victims out of more than $40 mln.

10  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-07-21] Markets Update:Bitcoin Bulls are back with vigorous energy on: July 21, 2017, 09:27:21 PM
July 20 was an exciting day for bitcoin proponents as markets suddenly switched from a bear crawl to a full fledged bull charge. The price spike resulted with a high of US$2930 per BTC across many global exchanges, showing a huge price difference between the recent low into the $1850s last week.

Bitcoin Bulls Are Back

Bitcoin markets had a spectacular day on July 20 as the decentralized currency came real close to reaching $3K per BTC. At the time of writing, the price was hovering around $2750-2770. The digital currency has been experiencing a recent break-out since reaching a low of $1850 per BTC on July 16. The initial drop was attributed to fear and uncertainty concerning a possible bitcoin split on August 1. Now speculators are crediting the recent jump in price to the BIP91 lock-in and the possibility of Segregated Witness (Segwit) activation. Trade volume has increased over the past three days as bitcoin markets are now seeing 24-hour trade volumes cross over $2 billion. Moreover, bitcoin’s market capitalization dominance against altcoin markets has risen to 48 percent.
