1  Economy / Economics / Why is gold up today? on: January 29, 2026, 01:35:39 PM
there seems to be a huge economic uncertainty going around right now. some say it’s from tariffs, some say it’s from geopolitical tension but one thing’s for sure gold hitting new all time high is putting pressure on the dollar. people have resorted to gold because they consider it as a safe haven.

are you holding gold right now?
2  Economy / Economics / your first paycheck on: January 04, 2026, 08:16:21 AM
kids nowadays are all about flexing on social media spending on lavish lifestyle even when they are still beginning my advice to most would be to save first and get into investing don’t let the flow of money go out find ways for your money to come back to you

the problem is that they receive their first paycheck and they purchase unnecessary items already like the latest phone, expensive clothes, eat in expensive restaurants

don’t do this if you want to be financially responsible

Who remember Faruk Fatih Ozer,

Quote
Faruk Fatih Ozer, the former CEO of collapsed cryptocurrency exchange Thodex, has been found dead in his prison cell in the western Turkish city of Tekirdag.

https://crypto.news/crypto-exchange-boss-found-dead-in-turkish-jail/

He was sentenced to a staggering 190 years and 6 months for the collapsed of Thodex as he was charged aggravated fraud, money laundering and leading a criminal organization.

I just there could be a bounty in his head when he went to prison with the amount of money that he run off, $2 billion to $2.6 billion.

5  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Introducing: Trezor 7 Safe on: October 23, 2025, 02:33:23 AM

https://x.com/Trezor/status/1980635920169869739

In their Prague event, Trezor introduces Trezor 7 safe. The marketing statement? It is "quantum" ready. Good or bad promotion as if they are anticipating that crypto will be under attack?

Quote
Every Trezor Safe 7 is quantum-ready from the moment it powers on.

Each Trezor Safe 7 runs through three layers of security at startup:

Boardloader - written at the factory, never changed; verifies the bootloader.
Bootloader - installs and verifies firmware; can wipe the device.
Firmware - wallet logic and interface.

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / best countries for btc on: September 24, 2025, 01:04:49 PM
UAE recently just got ranked among the top five crypto destinations which consist of the following: singapore, hong kong, usa, and switzerland. this ranking involves, i assume, friendliness of the country towards crypto considering their regulatory jurisdictions.

would you agree about the countries involved? are you interested in moving into these countries or starting a business that is crypto related? also there is no country from africa in the ranking. could there be one in the future?
7  Economy / Gambling discussion / not-a-luxury casino on: September 22, 2025, 08:30:45 AM
does the comfort of a casino add to how much you want to gamble? i have been thinking that the services of a casino to make you feel as comfortable as possible are they only tactics to keep you in longer inside the casino and spend more?

but what about those not so expensive casino or betting sites? there’s usually no air conditioning unit, it’s small and cramped but there are still people who go there to bet maybe because the desire to bet is higher than their desire for comfort

is comfort a big deal to you when gambling?
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / politicians gambling on: September 15, 2025, 11:11:53 PM
when we talk about politicians who were exposed for their crazy gambling habits we tend to talk about corruption but let us talk about hypocrisy

in the philippines, the government is trying to lower the rates of where the filipinos gamble especially in online spaces but what does it say if the very politicians trying to push for fighting against gambling are also the ones exposed for playing? is it not ironic?Huh?
9  Economy / Gambling discussion / gambling vs doomscrolling on: September 09, 2025, 08:38:52 AM
Doomscrolling or doomsurfing is the act of spending an excessive amount of time reading large quantities of user-generated content or news, particularly negative news, on the web and social media

basically doomscrolling is aimlessly scrollig through social media without any real intentions. being on social media also generates dopamine which is the same happy hormone that gambling can give you. we both doomscroll or gamble when we are bored. what do you think is worse, gambling or doomscrolling?

is it healthy to engage in these two activities excessively?
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / gambling in prison on: July 09, 2025, 12:22:16 PM
have you ever been to prison? it is a tough life in there. no matter what you did or whether you were wrongly accused for something, prison is not for everyone. it is obviously lonely as you gets separated away from your family. it can get boring, not being able to do what you want.

but gambling, even tho is prohibited, is often what entertains most prisoners. there is no actual money in prison so they often exchange in other forms of currencies like food or smuggled items. even their way of gambling is smuggled. cards, dice and even information from the outside are all smuggled.

the reason why gambling is prohibited tho is because it might escalate into fights if someone for example loses and doesn't pay their debts

just shows how gambling will always exist anywhere

12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Mt. Gox Repayment amidst Bitcoin Decline on: July 09, 2024, 06:12:02 AM
Mt. Gox has started repayments in Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash. It is not specified just exactly how much have been distributed and how much there is left however the decline of price of Bitcoin these previous days can be attributed back to this.

Additionally, Germany have also sold a huge chunk of their seized bitcoin in an operation against a piracy site last active almost over a decade ago. The exact reason why is unclear however many suspects that Germany is trying to liquidate the Bitcoins they hold to stabilize their economy. Despite a huge sell out, Germany still holds almost 30,000 bitcoins.

These two events contribute to the decline of bitcoin's price. Frantic investors have all sold their bitcoin in fear but if you know better, you know this is the right time to buy and accumulate as much bitcoin as you can.
13  Other / Off-topic / The Adam Project on: March 25, 2024, 04:14:34 AM
The Adam Project, Back to the Future, Click, and many more.

We, humans, have always been interested with time travel and constantly have made fictional works about it. I just watched the movie The Adam Project today and I thought about two things: one of course is bitcoin. If time travel exists somewhere in the future, I would definitely go back and tell my younger self to invest in bitcoin right away.

Now, the second thing I wondered about is how is it that with these many movies about time travel and so many explanations regarding how it works…. We still have not done it yet? I don’t think we’ve ever been even close.

Do you think time travel is truly possible? And if it is, do you think we are close to inventing it?
14  Economy / Speculation / Road to 100k? on: March 11, 2024, 01:47:04 PM
We have seen Bitcoin reach 70k USD and it even reached a point of 71k briefly. We are seeing history being made right here with the new all time high being set once again and it is happening even before halving.

I have high expectations that bitcoin will reach 100k but will it reach 100k without any major decline in price? Does it seem realistic that from 70k, bitcoin will continuously rise up?
15  Other / Off-topic / Dream country on: February 24, 2024, 03:50:58 PM
Does anyone else have a dream country to just visit someday or maybe live in?

Personally, one of my dreams is to visit Europe. I would love to visit multiple countries all in one trip. I am thinking maybe I will spend a week or so and I would take the train just to see different countries.

Aside from visiting Europe, I would really want to live in there. I do not have a specific european country in mind yet but I just know living in Europe would be a dream come true.
16  Other / Off-topic / Hamilton to Ferrari on: February 01, 2024, 10:09:29 PM
Any F1 fans here? What do you guys think about Lewis Hamilton finally joining Ferrari for next season?

We know that Ferrari has been a power house since the beginning and they have held multiple amazing drivers like Schumacher, Alonso, and Vettel and now Hamilton is added to the list personally I am quite excited about the next season I would love to see the duo of Leclerc and Hamilton, both being excellent drivers

Do you think Ferrari can finally win a championship after so long or will Hamilton have yet another disappointing year of losing to Verstappen?

18  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-08-02]Bitcoin Store Operator Lost Investors $40 mln: Reports on: August 02, 2017, 04:47:12 PM
Bitcoin Store Operator Lost Investors $40 mln: Reports

Investors in fraudulent Bitcoin exchange operator Renwick Haddow’s businesses are coming forward as losses worth millions of dollars surface.

As United Arab Emirates news resource The National reports Tuesday, those who contributed funds to Haddow’s schemes have all but lost everything.

Haddow is now in police custody after Interpol issued a warrant for his arrest last week. Police found him in Morocco after the US Securities and Exchange Commission said he had committed securities fraud.

“So many others have fallen into this trap,” Kamal Singh, who took out a bank loan worth $90,000 to invest in Haddow’s Bar Works project told the publication. “We only knew of the involvement of Renwick Haddow after the problems started.”

Haddow had purported to run a cryptocurrency exchange under the name of Bitcoin Store. According to the SEC, the business never became “profitable,” with investor funds being diverted elsewhere.

From its genesis in 2015, the ‘exchange’ had only received $250,000 in inbound transfers.

Bar Works meanwhile illicitly sold work space to residents in countries all over the world, including the US, Singapore and Turkey.

In total, Haddow is suspected of conning victims out of more than $40 mln.
