1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Problem connecting 1060s via riser while 1070s are working on: July 11, 2017, 05:36:42 PM
Hi,

i have a big problem adding new cards to my rig. I hope you guys can help me.

My rig is working without problems with the following config:

- MSI Z97 PC Mate Board
- Zotac GTX1070 Mini via powered riser
- Asus GTX1070 via powered riser
- Win10 64bit

Now i'm trying to add 2 GTX1060 cards, one EVGA GTX1060 and one EVGA GTX1060SC but i can't get them to work with risers.

I found out that the cards are working if I connect them directly to the x16 port. With one 1060 in the x16 i reinstalled the driver and everything works fine.
If i try to connect the card via riser it's not recognized by the system. My 1070s on the other hand are working without any problems via risers, even after last driver reinstall.

Stuff i tried so far:
- Bios Update
- switching risers, power connections and pcie ports --> 1070s are working always, the 1060s are not even shown in system explorer or bios.
- reinstall Nvidia driver

Does anyone have another idea?
Could this be a board problem? But what makes be sure that another board will work?

Edit: Now i tried to plug in both 1060s into the x16 ports directly, which worked, and the 1070s via risers into the x1 ports, which worked for one of the two. So i get 3 cards running but not the fourth via riser. I suspect that i have to think about a new board. Unfortunately they are quite expensive at the moment...

Any help welcome
Greetings
Sven
