Horyzon - the first crowdmapping platform on the blockchain

We (the Horyzon team) are glad to announce the launch of the Horyzon website. Here we explain the launch of the Horyzon platform, which is basically the tool to capture location specific and non-specific data, mass data gathering will be the future so we think we can make the difference here.

Crowmapping is generally a lot of people working together to raise as much data as possible, this is perfect for Research & Development sector, a billion dollar industry.

Concept

Horyzon is a decentralized crowd mapping platform which will combine skills of individual people to gather as much information as possible about a certain topic. Horyzon will be the first truly decentralized crowd mapping tool, creating a global market for data gathering. Our whitepaper presents the building blocks of the platform: the Ethereum smart contracts together with the crowd mapping logic and rewarding system. Finally we expound an 18 months roadmap for launching and scaling the platform, a detailed specification of the ZON token, which will play an enormous role in the Horyzon development.

Crowd Mapping is not a new concept, although due to fast changing technology tools, it’s getting popular again. Wikipedia describes Crowd Mapping as follow:

“Crowd mapping is a subtype of crowdsourcing by which aggregation of crowd-generated inputs such as captured communication and social media feeds are combined with geographic data to create a digital map that is as up-todate as possible on events such as wars, humanitarian crisis, crime, elections, or natural disasters. Such maps are typically created collaboratively by people coming together over the internet.”

This is already a quite good explanation but Horyzon wants to go way further. Once data is gathered via the ordinary Crowd Mapping, it does not get verified anymore after a certain amount of time, and is therefore not always 100% accurate. The owners of Horyzon believe this platform can cause big breakthroughs for scientific research companies which are relaying on geographical data, but have not the sufficient funds to travel the whole world. By buying ZON they can setup a contract where they ask people to participate on their project. They define the goals of the project and when participants will receive ZON.

Governmental companies (or even cities/countries) are having troubles with gathering knowledge about their own geographical area. Many cities have the problem that traffic signs our broken, the road is damaged, etc. These are problems that can easily be discovered by people living in this area. By entering this data in the Horyzon platform, they not only receive ZON, they also contribute to the community.

Each year billions are spent on data gathering by private and public companies, Horyzon believes it can make this process more efficient and take a leading role on geographic data gathering.

Roles

There are three kinds of participants on Horyzon: the owner, analyst and reviewer - the first two are mandatory when launching a contract.

The Owner

The owner is a self-explanatory role: the owner is the person who setup the project and wants to gather information.

The owner has to give a general introduction about the data he/she wants to gather and what he/she is going to use it for. Per contract the owner has to specify what the goals are and when the analyst receives ZON. When the owner wants to verify this data is 100% correct, he/she can assign one or more reviewers to his project.

The owner has to follow steps below to setup a project:

1. The owner supplies a number of details about the project: the motivation for gathering the data and a description for what he/she is going to use the data for.
2. The owner creates a wallet and deposits the number of ZON he/she wants to assign to the project.
3. After supplying ZON, the owner has to choose whether he/she wants to add one or more reviewers.
4. The owner describes the tasks for the analysts and assigns the number of ZON to reward the analysts when a task is completed, when one or more reviewers are assigned to the project, the owner also has to assign the number of ZON a reviewer receives for reviewing a task of the analyst.

The Owner has to specify whether tasks are bound to a specific location or are applicable everywhere.

The Analyst

The analyst is the person who tries to fulfill a task which is setup by the owner. The analyst can search on Horyzon if any tasks are assigned to his/her area. If so he/she can decide to assign a task to him/herself.

The analyst has to follow steps below to fulfill a task:

1. Logon to the Horyzon platform (or create an account if not yet available)
2. Have a look at pending projects and pick a task he/she wants to fulfill
3. Fulfill the task in the foreseen timeframe
4. If the task has been fulfilled and no reviewers have been assigned, the analyst receives the correct amount of ZON for completing the task

The Reviewer

The reviewer is the person that has to review the work of the analyst. Not every project will have reviewers, the presence of this role is dependent of the owner. The reviewer can search a task on Horyzon which has been completed by the analyst and still has to be verified. The reviewer has to follow steps below to review a task:

1. Logon to the Horyzon platform (or create an account if not yet available)
2. Have a look at pending projects and pick a task he/she wants to review
3. Review the task in the in the foreseen timeframe
4. If task has been reviewed, the reviewer received the correct amount of ZON for reviewing the task

Note: the reviewer cannot be the same person as the Analyst

Platform Roadmap

01/01/2017 Analysis and working out general concept, gathering Horyzon members and ambassadors
01/05/2017 Prepare website and white paper
23/07/2017 Launch website + prepare for crowdsale
15/09/2017 Launch crowdsale
01/01/2018 Release test platform for smaller group
01/03/2018 Release improved test platform worldwide
01/08/2018 Release production platform worldwide

Team

For the moment our team only exists of 2 developers, however we feel comfortable we are going to successfully implement our project, since the two of us are doing projects together for more than 5 years and believe in a small but dedicated team. However we are going to add developers, analysts and functionals (and some tester) after the ICO, the number of these people will be dependant on the amount of ETH raised. If the ICO is not succesfully we are going to launch are project anyway, however at a much smaller pace, therefore we are really excited about our new project.
