1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Bitcoin QT 11.2 keeps crashing on: December 09, 2015, 03:29:40 AM
Hey all,

I've tried to upgrade to QT 11.2, everything seemed fine until it keeps crashing when trying to rebuild the database at 1 year and 37ish weeks out.

I've deleted the blockchain and chainstate in the appdata folder, still keeps crashing once it gets to 1 year and 37ish weeks (hard for me to pinpoint exactly the week because I'm not looking at it all the time). It also crashes the computer. Computer is normally very stable, for a Win7 machine. It's actually a fairly fresh install, fully updated.

No idea what could be causing this. Any thoughts. Previous bitcoinQT 8.2 worked just fine....been using the standard wallet for quite some time now. No idea why it would do this all of a sudden. Wallet is backed up, so no issue there at least.

Thank you in advance.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Keep getting database corrupted on: November 29, 2013, 02:15:33 PM
I'm trying to install Bitcoin-qt 8.5 on my Linux Mint 14 mining machine, which has been running stable for weeks on end.

I keep getting database corrupted errors when I download blocks. It gets to about block 74 weeks left then it says database corrupted.

This is very weird, because I just installed it on my Windows machine, and the windows machine completed the download overnight.
I thought Linux was more stable than windows.

In any case, is there a way I can take the block database off the Windows machine and put it on the linux machine? I think I have a big enough flash drive to do it...somewhere...

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / cgminer segmentation fault -LinuxMint on: July 28, 2013, 08:52:44 PM
I just installed Linux Mint 14, which is based on ubuntu12 (I think).

Anyway, I installed the AMD sdk2.6.

ran amdinfo, says it sees a 7900 series card (mine is a 7950)

Downloaded cgminer 3.3.1 and tried to run it, but it says segmentation fault....not really sure what that is.

When I try to run cgminerno-gpu, it seems to start up fine, asks me to enter the url for the mining pool server etc.

read up on segmentation fault being some kind of pointer error, but, i have no idea how to fix it.

Do I need to install the actual AMD drivers for my card? Could that be it?

Thanks in advance. I'm a Linux nOOb.

4  Economy / Gambling / Got to love Ebay gambling on: May 13, 2013, 02:35:03 PM
You gotta love this stuff.

The pre-sales have already started on undelivered batches of Avalon chips.

All that for a few bucks and 58.50 shipping.

No, it's not me, and I'm not promoting it in any way, shape, or form.

Really, it is pathetic.

Hello there !

Just joined and started some mining with a couple of radeon 7850's.

Looking to try to decide what to do to improve my hash rate.

I have two computers available, my gaming rig (I don't do much gaming anymore), with the two radeons, and my old rig with an nVidia card in (560 GTX oc, pulling 75 Megahashes).

I'm trying to decide what to do, now that the difficulty has increased a lot.

Do I buy a couple more 7850's or plunk down the money and the wait time for some ASIC stuff??

The basic Butterfly lab Jalepeno doesn't look so bad. In terms of cost, it's about the same as a beefy graphics card, with 5 GH/s (10x) the hash rate. Of course, there are rumors of it being vaporware.

Are the BTC prices these days sustainable? $140 per BTC kind of sounds like a bit of a bubble to me....

If you had $1500 bucks right now, to burn on whatever investment you wanted,  what would you do?
