Economy / Gambling discussion / A superstitious strategy?
|
on: January 08, 2023, 08:48:15 AM
|
Most gamblers must have went through this, sometimes luck appears to be your side specially in games like casino war or dice.
Today, morning I was playing casino war, I just use martingale - I know it's lame strategy. But I won most of time.
Then later at noon, luck just didn't appear to be on my side. A constant losses with win every once in a while to recoup the losses and then losing streak, all funds gone.
Now, let's be some superstitious and say, if you play only when luck appears to be on your side, would you call that a good strategy?

Economy / Economics / WEF On Cryptocurrencies: Crypto is here to stay
|

Report compares current crash with dot com fallout of 2000 which resulted in an evolution of the internet to more durable companies and business models. The early days of the internet were plagued with viruses and scams, yet email and the World Wide Web did not get banned. Similarly the embrace of crypto technology is equally inevitable. History is riddled with examples of otherwise good or neutral technologies being co-opted by bad actors and those ever-present human follies of greed, nescience, risks of opportunity or outright criminality. All of which are amplified in emerging, lightly regulated sectors and accelerated by technology. Indeed, no sector is risk-free, especially not one involving money. However, crypto punishes the errant at speed, giving bad actors few places to hide. Read article: https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2023/01/future-of-cryptocurrencies-davos2023

Other / Beginners & Help / New year's rug pull: Dictum exchange
|
on: January 01, 2023, 06:39:47 AM
|
About a week ago arbitrum based project called Dictum exchange announced an airdrop. Eligibility form was open then and claim was supposed to start on 30th December until 3rd of January. With 77% supply to be airdropped. However, things turned out to be sour when devs rugged the LPs. The usual yield farming scam, lock your eth/usdc/etc and get our token. What's surprising in this? They fooled reputed eth staking platform, Lido. Lido was announced as a "partner" and they agreed to incentivize the stETH pool in Dictum with 4000 LDO. What can we learn? - Be careful with airdrops, so many airdrop hunters have entered the field, so have scammers. - Don't blindly trust the partnerships. - Be careful with wallets you have connected to platform(s) and especially if you have given approve permission(s), use revoke.cash to revoke such permissions. - New discord account, new website. who.is record shows dictum.exchange was registered 39 days ago. Ofc, not all recently registered projects are scam but it's one of things to note. - It was a solidly exchange fork. If there is nothing original in project, one should be cautious of such ones. - Ethereum address that deployed the contracts was funded by other address which was funded by tornado cash (popular ethereum mixer).

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What's highest amount you have earned from altcoin bounty?
|
on: December 22, 2022, 06:42:38 AM

Altcoin bounties are famous for being useless. However, there tends to be gems every once in a while, have you come across such any?
For me and from my memory of 5 years of alt bounties these three take the cake,
Jrt: Got 180k tokens of it with 100 eth value at one point of time, that would be ~$500k at ath, and still ~$100,000 eth.
Aave: Back then 'lend'. Had just got 87 tokens, sold it on etherdelta for pennies. However it reached $660 ath, that would be 57k.
Gold - stablecoin bounty, was part of it for 41 months. Highest payrate being $300/month. This might not be much, but I'd like to include it just because how consistent it turned out to be.
What are yours?

Today morning I received article regarding partnership of sequence wallet * onmeta. I felt like trying. Purchased 100 rs worth usdc on polygon, it went smooth, no kyc, just email address. There is video of same in above article. I couldn't find anything related to 'selling' as mentioned in article however. Regarding prices, I paid 90 rs/usdc while on coindcx it's 85 rs/usdc. https://sequence.app/wallet/add-funds

Suppose your country has banned crypto completely. You could buy ecommerce [1]giftcards from sites like bitrefill ($1k/month without account and there are some other sites too which I have no personal experience of). Ofc they have some premium and if you were to sell these gift cards you would get 5-10% lower but could be helpful strategy in dire need. You can always purchase basic necessities using these or purchase items online and resell them. [1] Gift cards providers

Every once in a while, someone posts 'Bitcointalk needs mentions support', and someone replies there is telegram bot for that.
Would that not be useful making people aware of this bot's existence in News bar or through welcome message so everyone comes to know about it naturally?
