If ETH split affect 50% of the users, that means that right now, 50% of the users are trading on the wrong chain. The price of ETH is fake, and based on 2 blockchains, and not 11 Billions of coins but 2x more! The exchanges based on the old chain have 2 choices: - keep it the way it is and then ETH will be officially split in 2 forever. - reverse all the transactions since the fork, and face legal action from their users. This is a terrible mess. I think that all the crypto will be affected. Logically the price of ETH right now is inflated because miners and users are stuck in their own chains and most exchanges do not allow them to deposit or withdraw them. Let's talk an example of an institutional who have 100,000 in ETH and sold them. Now he learn that the sell is not saved in the right blockchain, but he got the USDT and paid his client! How all of this will be fixed? The price right now is inflated because people cannot sell their coins in a panic sell, exchanges are blocking that. But what is going to happen next? What about the confidence in the Blockchain technology, what will be the consequences for all the smart contract based on ETH and that are on the wrong chain? Theter for example and all the DEfi and NFT? I am in cash waiting the crash to come, as it will be massive. In 1 month everyone has lost 50% of their value in crypto. The banks had just offered crypto portfolios to their investors. Everything was perfectly coordinated. The message is as follows. "WALL Street is the best investment. USD $$$ is the best currency. Crypto is just good at losing your money." "Practically, the USD raised 50% against crypto, everyone should have sold." This is all an attack on the crypto by the institutions and by the American FED. The signal for the attack was given by their puppet Elon Musk, and the banks looted the portfolios they had just created, teaching their investors a lesson. Because the digital Yuan, the official Chinese crypto currency was just introduced on May 12, this kills 2 birds with one stone and flops the Chinese government crypto.These fools saw nothing coming from the Machiavellian plan. They pushed their crypto by banning Bitcoin mining! How stupid. I want to send a wake up call to all the crypto supporters and specially on this very forum that has seen the creators of Bitcoin exchanging their first comments and built Bitcoin from scratch. Elon Musk is the worse thing that has happened to the crypto since 2008, and he is a real thread to its existence. Not only he is already a Billionaire, so what the f*ck he is playing with crypto? To have more billions over his billions? but he is the product of Wall Street and is trying to disrupt the whole crypto world by ridiculizing it. From the start he is playing with us, like with a video game, and now he is trying to put the crypto to shame, and if crypto loses the confidence of its investors, it will fall in rubble. His goal is to prove that crypto is irrelevant by destroying Bitcoin and making Doge a bigger capitalization. His actions are ruining millions of small investors who are putting their economies into the crypto with the hope to have a better future than what the fiat finance can offer to them. Elon Musk is a pure product of the financial system, he is not your friend, he is your enemy. We need to unite to resist to the temptation, to greed and to fear, and do the opposite of what he wants. Who want to be a puppet of a billionaire who is manipulating the market in his own interest? We will only lose if we go this path. So this guy is evil and if you suck his feets, then do not complain if he crash the Crypto for good. He has no interest in the existence of the crypto, he is the by-product of Wall Street. Please, unite against this guy, dump DOGE, and pump BTC now that he has sold his stockpile, put him to shame and show the world that crypto is (still) a real revolutionary movement.  |

The attitude of Elon Musk seems to be as stupid as can be. Of course some will say that when he manipulates the markets with big announcement like Tesla will accept Bitcoin, then Tesla will temporary stop accepting them, and soon Spacex will accept Bitcoin, this seems like a kid playing in a sandbox with friends.
However, this also enlight how crypto can be manipulated and needs some kind of control from the government.
Elon Musk is too connected to be acting alone playing this game.
I suspect that he is trying to enlight that markets are subject to manipulation and needs to be regulated, and give to the SEC the right pretext for doing it.
I can see coming the fact that the SEC will investigate him, and I cannot imagine that he is jumping in the dragon mouth without having a pre-agreement to do so.
So guys are you going to continue to dance with the SEC's joker? Or ignore his puppet dance?
Because, with Bitcoin doing a fork, Ethereum doing a fork and Elon giving the SEC a reason to bite and legalize the crypto under strict oversight only, which will end most of the crypto by making them illegal in US and Europe. The consequences for your portfolio will be huge.

I am not sure if I am dealing with scammers, but I am dealing with a big exchange right now, and they are asking me to deposit cash as a security deposit, that is refundable the next months.
It sounds like a scam to me (are they going to run with this money and never list my coin)?
Is it a current practice?

I have read the USDT smart contract and there is no price re-adjustment. Only some management functions like blacklist addresses burn cash and of course the basic ERC20 functions.
But how do they re-adjust the price to be 'stable'
Is it done from outside?
Then do they have to do it for each exchange, using the exchange API?

I am using Basically the same CalculateNextWorkRequired in pow.cpp than Bitcoin in another project.
I only changed the new difficulty target evaluation to move by x2 instead of x4 with Bitcoin.
When my coin was young, difficulty was around 5-10 and we were mining with CPU, that was the cool time.
This algorithm was fine because the steps up and down x2 were not changing the mining requirement that much.
For example we were Diff 5, then it moved to 10, then back to 5, and the blockchain were never stalling because the difficulty was too high.
Now we are at difficulty between 10 Millions and 100 Millions. When the difficulty changes from 10 Millions to 20 Millions, you need to drastically change your hashing power, from 20 TH/s to 50TH/s otherwise, the blockchain stall for hours, or even forever until someone find a block if you are not paying attention.
Are there new algorithms that are more adapted, for example that are changing dynamically the difficulty requirement without finding a new block as soon as the blockchain is stalling more than x minutes?
The current algorithm is not really smart, and require constant re-adjustment for the miners.
Any smart suggestion as a replacement of CalculateNextWorkRequired?
