1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Layer 2 Protocol - A big miss ? on: March 22, 2021, 06:06:04 PM
Well, if you do not know what Layer 2 is, you can read about it here https://academy.binance.com/en/glossary/layer-2
With the current increase in gas fee especially on Ethereum network, I would have love to see the positive influence of such protocol on the entire blockchain. I have seen some project such as KINGSWAP prioritizing L2 but it is unclear if they will be able to achieve this because their previous statement regarding L2 implementation is futile
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Bounty hunters are getting axed harder on: January 29, 2021, 09:12:30 AM
I look backward and see a lot of challenge facing bounty hunters and I can only see that things will get harder. The mental stress of looking for the right bounty to promote, waking up in the middle of the night for several hours to complete tasks for months just to realized you won't get $1 for all your time.

It is another scenario when you discover that the project you promoted is doing great at the exchange market but you realized the team are refusing to give the reward of your labour or change the rules regarding the campaign just to make it hard for you to get your reward.

I think most of this project team see hunters as being toothless because they know the worst you can do cannot affect their project. They name you different names just to make you look like a fool in the eyes of investors.

Until there is a way to deal honorably with these team, hunters will continue to suffer
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Can i use bitcoin lightening network to send bitcoin to an exchange platform on: December 27, 2020, 12:56:24 PM
I have gone through some articles pointing out how bitcoin lightening network works especially in processing transaction at faster speed and reduced transaction fee. As we all know that presently the transaction fee for sending bitcoin is very high and this is a great disadvantage especially if I am sending small amount of bitcoin to an exchange platform or I am purchasing a services (e.g Nord VPN subscription) with you few bucks in bitcoin. I am looking forward to see someone who can explain if it is possible to use bitcoin lightening network to send bitcoin to a CEX wallet address. I understand that lightening network use QR code instead of public key and both are provided by CEX

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / YFI and YFII on: September 01, 2020, 03:09:20 PM
I was a bit confused today when I saw YFII as top gainer on the binance market. I was not familiar with the token. I only know YFI which has been trending for the past 1 month. I checked the Coingecko here https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/dfi-money and I saw that they are different defi project YFI websites is https://yearn.finance/ while YFII is https://dfi.money/. I am just curious to know the connection between the two projects because YFII looks like a new version of YFI. If not YFII could have gone for another ticker name. All probably they want to tap from the YFI FOMO

8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / A Restaurant convert entire savings to Bitcoin on: August 20, 2020, 08:10:26 AM
According to the tweet https://twitter.com/TheRealTahinis/status/1295770434349281281. Tahinis, A Canada-based Middle Eastern restaurant has converted all their entire savings to bitcoin.

The decision to turn the cash holdings to cryptocurrencies emerged in the March crash and as the Canadian government started to offer aid services to companies struggling to stay open owing to the pandemic.

With the U.S. and Canada printing money to support their crippled economies, Tahini's owner Omar Hamam began to see the financial system as "a play of tic tac toe being played right now, and music will halt and some people would be left out."

Hamam said he was worried that handouts and money printing would devalue the economy of the fiat. "It was clear to us that cash did not have the same appeal," he added. "In the end, with all the extra currency floating in the market, the capital will be worthless."

He decided to convert the business's savings to Bitcoin as it "gives a much viable choice to saving cash." He said they would proceed to use Bitcoin as a reserve asset — "perhaps permanently if we don't need fiat."
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Worldwide blockchain university program takeoff on: August 14, 2020, 04:04:37 PM

10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Germany Continues Shutting All Unlicensed Bitcoin ATMs on: August 14, 2020, 09:50:47 AM

The Federal Financial Regulation Authority (FFSA) or BaFin, the body responsible for overseeing cryptocurrency service providers, was in the midst of cracking down on both illegal and unregulated Bitcoin ATMs.

According to a Bitcoinnews.com article, the closure accompanies a regulation that took effect last January ordering crypto-service operators to receive BaFin authorization.

German BaFin regulators have found a range of illegal Bitcoin ATMs running in Germany, and at least one firm, the Estonia-licensed Virtual Planet OÜ operated by the Shitcoin Club, has issued an order to halt the activity of Bitcoin ATMs in the region, according to the article.

Another central Bitcoin ATM provider, Coin Fellows, was told to stop all activities in Germany by the end of July.

Bitcoin traders in Germany opposed the closure, arguing that the BaFin criteria are too stringent for small enterprises and are best appropriate to banks and major financial entities.

The U.S. Department of Justice has already started cracking down on illegal bitcoin ATMs and recently confiscated 17 computers in California, according to the article.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Crypto Mining: Miners Arrested for Stealing Electricity From the State on: August 14, 2020, 09:32:27 AM
When the Malaysian police learned that they stole energy from the power provider Sarawak Energy Berhad or the SEB, they detained four crypto-currency miners.

The police spent two days clamping down on four townhouses, reportedly containing bitcoin mining facilities, according to Malay Mail. The stores were situated in the cities of Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce, Jalan Pahlawan, and Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman.

The report reveals that the offenders looted the power utility of over $59,000 a month.
Also involved in the project were the Electric Inspectorate or EIU of the Sarawak Ministry of Services.

It is estimated that the shophouses produced $191 in monthly electricity bills, which appears to suggest that the miners are also cheating local energy meters for a legitimate transaction.

Figures from the EIU indicate that since 2018 there have been 50 inquiries into crypto-related electricity theft incidents.

The Kyrgyzstan law enforcement agencies have recently found illegal crypto-currency mining farm on FEZ territory.

While they have been illegal since 2018, the Republic of Abkhazia also experiences an increase in crypto mining operations. In the last six months, Customs has registered mining hardware worth more than $589,000 crossing the border.

14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Cryptocurrency mixing services do more harm than good to blockchain technology on: July 09, 2020, 10:11:06 AM
A mixer (or tumbler) blends various types of theoretically recognizable cryptocurrency. This increases transaction confidentiality, because it allows tracing bitcoin difficult. The owner of Bitcoin sends the money to the mixing machine, exchanging it with that of other users and sending the combined cash to the requested address, ensuring there is no relation between the initial transaction and this address. Settlement sums should be chosen arbitrarily and the settlement consists of several tiny partial payments distributed over a longer period of time.
Such services are widely used by scammers such that they do not get traced.
Do you think mixing services are harming the adoption of the technology ?

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Stable Coin Treasury keep minting coin why ? on: June 17, 2020, 12:23:09 PM
I am persistent follower of Crypto whale alert on the social media especially on Twitter. I have discovered that almost every week ( within 7 days), millions of stable coin such as PAX,USDT etc. are being printed from their treasury. The one that draw my significant attention is the USDT that happen to be most used stable coin by cryptocurrency traders. At least $200 millions worth of USDT are always printed from the tether treasury almost every week.

My questions are as follows
(1) Who are those responsible for minting of this stable coin and is the process and amount of minting being regulated  ?
(2) Can they be trusted of not using the minted coin to influenced the price of other cryptocurrencies ?
(3) If this minting continue, what do you posit for the future of the stablecoins and those that are holding them ?
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / United Nation Expert admit Digital Currencies Could Replace Bank Accounts on: June 15, 2020, 08:58:49 AM

This is the opinion of Massimo Buonomo, a UN global blockchain expert who added that the need for a bank account may soon be "fully removed by digital currencies and especially the central bank's digital currencies (CBDCs). Buonomo said that banks and credit card companies have had a duopolistic approach to digital payments for many years, but the advent of digital currencies can mean that users can circumvent them completely, he said in an online board on Thursday about the future global post-coronavirus economic structure.

He said that low-interest rates, which central banks are needed to facilitate increased borrowing, will speed up the cycle because they enable account holders to chase other countries for returns. For one, the Bank of England discusses the idea that interest rates are paying in negative territories, which suggests savers can compensate the banks to keep funds in their bank accounts. American President Donald Trump recently called them a "gift" for negative rates.

Interest rates are the one remaining killer feature of bank accounts, according to Buonomo. Yet in the context of digital currencies that can accept online purchases as quickly, they are in danger of being redundant.

It is becoming evident that things will begin sour for Banks. The sooner they realize this the better for them
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Proof-of-Balance better than other blockchain based protocols ? on: June 13, 2020, 03:43:37 PM
The National Science Foundation, an independent U.S. federal government agency, has granted private blockchain startup KRNC a $225,000 grant to build crypto functionalities for the dollar at a period when the digital dollar is a subject of public debate.

The CEO of KRNC (https://www.krnc.io/), Clint Ehrlich is a regular critiques of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency. He believes Bitcoin, which runs on the principle of Proof-of-Work, is wasteful," Ehrlich said. "It requires people to waste money and computing power solving pointless problems." KRNC protocol is touted to be based on his own invention called "Proof-of-Balance"

Anyone understand what this "Proof of Balance" ?
What makes it better than other protocols such as POS and POW ?
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Crypto Ban: Russian Regulators do not want Legislators to Ban Crypto on: June 11, 2020, 07:26:15 AM
A report coming from Russia has revealed that the country Ministry of Economic Development has frowned against the draft bills which was introduced by lawmakers.

"If the bills are successfully passed, Russia will have its first regulation for crypto and other digital assets which would also ban any businesses facilitating crypto transactions"

The ministry points out that people can still purchase crypto assets elsewhere, according to the Russian newspaper Kommersant, which has got the letter, but the current version of the letters will not allow the government to protect their rights. Crypto-oriented businesses will also be forced out of the region, hurting the economy.

The Ministry argues that the new regulations should take a different approach and work on establishing a 'controllable cryptocurrency market' in Russia.

Source: https://www.coindesk.com/russias-economy-ministry-calls-for-controllable-market-rather-than-crypto-ban

People do not want government to ban crypto and they also want their right to be protected.

Can the government achieve a totally controllable cryptocurrency market ?
