1  Bitcoin / Armory / Issue with installing Armory on an empty HDD. on: August 23, 2017, 07:59:44 PM
Hi,
I'll try to keep this as brief as possible (jump to the last sentence for a summary of the issue).

I am relatively new to Bitcoin (so please excuse any stupidity and please, please explain everything in simple terms), with my first entry into the Bitcoin market being a purchase of £50.00 of Bitcoin on a trading site, probably just over a month ago now. I used the Armory Bitcoin wallet as the wallet in which I kept all of my Bitcoins and everything worked fine.

However, I recently built a new computer, containing both an SSD and a HDD, and encountered a problem (which I couldn't find a solution to online).
I downloaded my OS to the SSD (obviously), but I would like to download all of my Bitcoin files to the HDD (due to the large size of the blockhain). However, I am struggling with this.
(Just so you know: the HDD is empty apart from a file containing a load of pictures.)
When I installed Bitcoin Core to the HDD, with the file location E:\Bitcoin\Bitcoin Core\Bitcoin, it seemed to install just fine. However, when I loaded up Bitcoin Core, it created a load of files outside of any folder, each with the location E:\(file name), e.g. "E:\blocks" (basically they were not in any folder).
This, in itself, was annoying, as it destroyed any organisational system I tried to put together (which is kind of important to me).
Putting this to one side, and allowing Bitcoin Core to create its files wherever it wanted to create them, left a bigger issue: when I installed Armory (which I installed on the HDD also (with the location E:\Bitcoin\Armory)), and loaded it, it didn't seem to be able to find the blockchain, so I could not load my wallet. I saw some stuff in the Armory settings about the Bitcoin Core location, but I had no idea what I needed to do. I'm really sorry if I'm being stupid, but I simply do not know.
This problem is a rather large one for me, as I wiped my old PC (on which I accessed my wallet), which leaves me with no access to my Bitcoins (although I made a paper backup of my Armory wallet, of course).
If someone could please help me with this issue (explaining it in super basic terms) I would greatly appreciate it (and sorry if you feel that I am wasting your time).
Essentially, I need to know how to install Bitcoin Core on an empty HDD, so that Armory (which will also be installed on the empty HDD) recognises it, preferably with all the Bitcoin files in one folder (this could be a folder named "Bitcoin" containing one named "Bitcoin Core" and another named "Armory" (it just needs some order)).

Thanks for any and all help.
