1  Economy / Economics / Bitcoin and Fiat - this is how I see the future on: June 10, 2018, 07:50:02 AM
At a time where I see currencies moving away from cash to digital I think the reason is partly so that governments can control the flow of their currency more particularly for laundering. They can possibly gain more taxation from a cashless currency because cash cannot be fully traced. If i sell my car for cash to another individual the government dont get any revenue from that because it is not traceable.

So in a governments aim to control our money it will leave a big opening for bitcoin and other decentralised crypto to exist along with fiat and will allow people to "trade" anonymously with each other over a completely independent infrastructure.
2  Economy / Services / Looking for BTC transaction to be confirmed on: March 12, 2018, 11:28:30 AM
I have searched the topic and cannot find an answer to this.

I have a small BTC (0.003) amount which has not been confirmed for about 4 weeks on Bitfinex.
Can anyone help? Im not looking for a free service Im looking for a reputable service.

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Financial Control or Anonymity on: February 19, 2018, 03:26:56 PM
I know there have been other threads about this subject in the past but I wonder do people realise this is another move to control the masses, us?
If we think about it when the move is finally complete and cash is no longer available
we wont be able buy or sell anything without the banks and governments knowing about it.

Today I can sell my car for cash without anyone knowing about it,
in the future with no cash in circulation governments can potentially look for a "tax" payment for my sale.

This is a perfect reason to get into Bitcoin, Litecoin, Monero, Dash and others to provide an alternative to this form of tracking and controlling our financial movements.

Here is another report below from 3 days ago about moves in India to withdraw "cash",
not all cash but the most common notes from circulation leaving many with a financial system they cannot access.

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Look back and move forward on: February 12, 2018, 11:34:38 AM
In this time of Fear Uncertainty and Doubt it is sometimes good to look back at what has gone before.
We should learn from other threads from late 2016, through to the latter half of 2017.
There were so many threads asking if it was the right time to buy Bitcoin because the price was rising but some people still doubted it would last.

So here are a few older threads which could be interesting and helpful for these current times and to learn to BUY NOW and have no regrets.

Warning These are big threads, I have listed the thread start date, the title, the link and the approx. price of BTC at that time.

October 19, 2017, when is the right time to invest on bitcoin https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2288662.0 (bitcoin price - $5411)

We wont be going back to those prices above and we may not be visiting sub $10,000 after this current low spell so buy now.
6  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-02-06] The Dow Just Lost Even More Than Bitcoin. But ..... on: February 06, 2018, 12:28:44 PM
The Dow Just Lost Even More Than Bitcoin. But Don't Call it a Stock Market Crash

This is what we are up against with the mainstream media.
They love to give Bitcoin and Crypto a good kicking at every opportunity.
Lets see if they apply the same Armageddon news flashes to this news as they do to Crypto especially if the Dow falls further.

http://fortune.com/2018/02/05/stock-dow-bitcoin-market-crash/

While Bitcoin, which fell as much as 23% on Monday,
shed nearly $18 billion in market value during the day,
the stock market fared even worse: The Dow stocks alone lost more than $300 billion.

7  Bitcoin / Wallet software / GENERAL Q: Linux or Windows on: January 29, 2018, 11:39:58 AM
(i hope im posting in the right section here)
I have general question regarding the above.
I am running an old Dell XPS420 as my main PC which only gets used a few times per week
this is currently running Windows 7 (non genuine!) and I am thinking of changing the HD
as it is in there for about 10 years  Embarrassed
I am thinking of switching to Linux Mint with the Mate desktop.
I am also using Electrum, Exodus and Multibit wallets among other dedicated ones for Electroneum for example,
will Linux Mint be a good choice above using W7 again?
8  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum on a USB on: November 16, 2017, 10:41:52 AM
I am looking to install and/or create a wallet on an encrypted USB drive so that I can access that wallet on the go,
rather than relying on a 'mobile wallet' on my phone.
Is anyone doing this currently?
From the website i can see the download options, do i use the windows one? https://electrum.org/#download

i just re-posted in the sticky board https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=154451.msg24677756#msg24677756
