1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [DGC] Alternative and Failover Pool List [Updated 14th Sept] on: July 17, 2013, 04:06:45 AM
so you went with the biggest hash you could find because thats the best right? well due to the lower number of users smaller pools can give you the same amount of return for the same amount of time**. one day you find that the large pool you've been happily hashing at is down for some reason but you didnt set a failover pool in your settings. this post is here to fix that. it also doesnt hurt to spread your hash around to avoid centralisation.

there are many alternative pools you can use from the following list (if you want your DGC pool added reply below)

Pushpool - - 0% fee - LP, Stratum - PPLNS - Montreal, Canada (OVH) - erundook- 0% fee - PPLNS - Amsterdam, Netherlands - BigVern - 0% fee - PPLNS - Texas, United States - ethought - 1% fee - getwork, stratum - VARDIFF - Proportianal - Nuremberg, Germany (HETZNER) - akabane - 1% fee - stratum - PPS - Paris, France (OVH)
[Offline] - the1silverwolf - 1% fee - stratum - VARDIFF - DYNAMIC-PPLNS - TX FEES TO MINERS - Chicago, IL ,United States
[Maintenance] - CryptoBullion - 1% fee - stratum - PPLNS - Michigan, United States

p2pool - CartmanSPC - 1% fee - Irvine, CA, United States (SAVVIS) - faraway - 2% fee - Paris, France (Free)

use the following format to add a failover

cgminer -o YOURMIANPOOL:3308 -u USER -p PASS -o YOURBACKUP:8088 -u USER -p PASS -the rest of your settings-

When using a p2pool you will need to mine with your (local*) wallet address

multiply your hashrate by 0.00000116 to find your share difficulty and add it to your address like so

-o YOURBACKUP:8088 -u YOURWALLETADDRESS+0.00087310 -p x

Hash Rate (KH/s)         Difficulty
                 1                  +0.00000116
                 5                  +0.00000582
                10                 +0.00001164
                50                 +0.00005821
                100               +0.00011641
                250               +0.00029103
                500               +0.00058207
                750               +0.00087310
                1000              +0.00116414
                1600              +0.001862624

*Do not use an exchange or online wallet address
**Luck does play a greater part in smaller pools but should even out

im looking for (legit) services that rent MH/GH to use for BTC or LTC. preferably on a pool of my choosing

if you know of such a service that is defiantly not legit you can list that too
4  Other / Beginners & Help / how much does mining affect the lifetime of a GPU ? on: May 07, 2013, 07:15:41 PM
has there been any studies on how mining affects the lifetime of a GPU ?

24/7, 12/7 and control would be a nice study
5  Other / Beginners & Help / is a local wallet using an online blockchain possible? on: May 07, 2013, 06:32:42 PM
instead of having to download a 7gb+ blockchain would it be possible to have a local wallet connect to an online blockchain?

i had all my LTC stolen from an ewallet 16 hours after the first deposit ( now im worried about my BTC ewallet (been fine for 4 weeks)
6  Other / Beginners & Help / what makes one share more difficult than another? on: May 07, 2013, 06:14:41 PM
so when mining, what makes one share more difficult than another?

for some reason i thought it was the number of 0s but now im not so sure
7  Other / Beginners & Help / your LTC are not safe with on: May 06, 2013, 11:31:05 PM
sad first post to this fine forum, i would have mailed the sites admin directly if they had a visible email

2 days ago i setup a wallet with an 18 character uppercase+lowercase+symbols+numbers PIN and yesterday transferred 0.1 LTC from 3-4 days mining.
so i dont have to keep logging into the site, i view my balance via the blockchain explorer and today i find my account has been drained along with 22 other people

no transactions were logged on the wallet site which still shows my previous, now non existent, balance
the site doesnt allow withdrawals of less than 0.5 LTC and also doesnt give you a private key

the only conclusion i can come to is someone has backdoor access to the site, has grabbed and decoded the private keys and is draining accounts
