101  Other / Beginners & Help / Mining, Trading or Investing. on: May 02, 2018, 09:35:34 PM
This question circulates around these forums daily: Should people entering cryptocurrency start mining, trading or investing?

I was told some great advice back when I got into cryptocurrency and thought I would share it. Please keep in mind this is a summary, but still a good representation.

Mining - Mine if you are passionate about the technology and the love idea behind it.
Trading - Trade if you are interested in research and have an abundance of patient and time.
Investing - Invest if you feel the future of the technology will grow and you love what it represents.

At the end of the day everyone has their own reasons for getting involved in cryptocurrency. This ranges from the opportunity of money and riches to the technology and industry itself. What I am trying to tell you is there is no perfect answer to the 'Should I start mining, trading or investing?' question.

You will find more profitability in something you are passionate about and enjoy then something you are not. The point is do what interests you the most regardless of what other people tell you.

My Story: I got involved in the crypto industry out of obsession. It's the first technology that has driven me to obsession since I picked up my first gaming controller.

103  Economy / Collectibles / Crypto Quilts / 100% Handmade on: April 25, 2018, 12:09:23 AM
Hello all,

I'm excited to announce the creation of Crypto Quilts after the successful sale of the first Bitcoin Quilt. Offering a unique custom quilts with cryptocurrency with free shipping worldwide.

Website: https://www.cryptoquilts.org

Description:

Crypto Quilts was founded in 2018 with the premise of creating recognition for quilters and their quilts.
The idea of creating the first Bitcoin quilt came from working with a local quilt guild.
The entire process from designing to the finished project was in the hands of the quilters.

The sad truth is quilts are slowly becoming unappreciated in a throw away society.
We want to change that by spreading awareness and sharing appreciation for quilts.

100% of proceeds go directly to the quilter and guild.
Crypto Quilts as a company takes no profits and pays out of pocket for all shipping costs.
This is possible by using the power of decentralization and cryptocurrency.

Follow our story and the quilt process @CryptoQuilts.

Services:

Commissions and Custom Orders - We get it not everyone wants a cryptocurrency quilt. We offer custom designs and request. Please contact us with what you are looking for as prices and quotes vary.

Quilts:

You can view all the quilts made for raffles here:https://www.cryptoquilts.org/quilts
Commission quilts will be posted in this thread by the buyers if they wish too.

104  Economy / Collectibles / [Auction] Bitcoin Quilt 58"x58" Hand Made Supports Local Guild. Till 4/20/2018 on: March 31, 2018, 09:24:54 PM
Hello all,

Information: This Bitcoin quilt was a project started from a discussion here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3092512
This quilt will be auctioned off today to April 20th, 2018. Note: If the auction is unsuccessful I will be listing it as a [WTS] in Goods > Collectibles until sold.

The quilt was designed and quilted by my local quilt guild. This entire project was to test interest in Bitcoin or Cryptocurrency quilts while supporting the local quilters community. All proceeds will be going to the quilters guild. I pitched them the idea in March of creating some quilts related to cryptocurrency. The guild loved the idea and in a period of 20 days created an amazing warm feeling quilt. I hope this quilt brings everyone who sees it some joy and inspiration.

The suggested use case for the quilt is either as a throw quilt (on your lap while watching movies), bed or hanging display. The quilt is the first and one of a kind. No two quilts will ever be alike.

Description: Bitcoin surrounded in a sea of blue. 100% Cotton all three layers, Top, Batting, Backing and Thread. Custom stitching on blue boarder, yellow middle and white centre.
Size: 58"x58" inches  - 148x148 centimetres
Starting bid: 0.125 BTC
Bid Increments: 0.001 BTC
Any bids within the final 15 minutes will extend the Auction by an additional 15 minutes.
Excluded from Bidding: I may exclude bidders at my sole discretion.
End date and time: 4/20/2018 - 00:00 hrs UTC
Payment methods accepted: Bitcoin
Additional information: Payment will be escrowed until proof of delivery of the quilt through mail signature. After escrow receives proof of signature from buyer/seller funds will be released. I will never ask for direct payment through Private Message.

Note: If you are interested in a custom quilt feel free to send me a private message on the forums and I can relay any requested information. The guild or individual quilters are open to custom orders and doing any size of quilt and design. Example: See my Pokemon quilt.
105  Economy / Gambling discussion / [Help] What are the popular casinos for cryptocurrency? on: March 20, 2018, 09:19:24 PM
Hey all,

I am not a gambler nor do I use any of the casino services besides maybe the occasional dice game.

Question: I wanted to get some feedback on what you believe are the top 5 casinos (in your opinion) in the scene.
Note: I would prefer if they have affiliate programs, but it seems most casinos do by default.

The reason for the feedback is I've created a list of top affiliate programs and I wanted to see what I am missing. You can see the original thread about Crypto Trust here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3041716

I've skimmed most of the thread related to casinos as well as the announcements from the casinos. However, I feel like I might be missing some major ones.

Any feedback would be appreciated and This is what I have so far:

107  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Internet Security for Mining on: March 15, 2018, 06:14:26 PM
Is internet Security for mining a thing?

I was curious if miners use internet security to protect their location? I figured there was a chance of people being able to track back your location. I wanted to see if VPN or other security measures are common practises for miners. Most people these days use internet and other forums of security for their own home. I guess this question relates mostly to off-site mining locations.

With the news of more equipment being stolen from medium-large mining farms in Iceland and other areas there must be a demand for security side protection.
108  Economy / Service Discussion / Browser Mining Problems on: March 14, 2018, 01:24:04 PM
I've noticed more and more cryptocurrency related sites are running Bitcoin and Altcoin mining on their websites. I don't know about the rest of you but I am getting tired of it. I would support smaller projects and websites if they let users know. None of them see to be open about saying they are running miners.

I would recommend installing the following if you are not already running them:

Chrome
NoMiner - Chrome
No Coin! - Chrome
minerBlock - Chrome

Firefox
NoMiner - Firefox
No Coin! - Firefox
minerBlock - Firefox

Opera
No Coin! - Opera
minerBlock - Opera

Safari
Unknown
Safari from my understanding does not have any approved miner blockers in their extension store.

Brave solves all these problems.

For a list of sites running miners see (WIP) Community Compiled List of Sites Browser Mining.
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Neonexchange ICO KYC that requires an extension. on: March 12, 2018, 10:34:52 PM
Neonexchange is a decentralized cryptographic trade and payment service. i've been looking forward to their platform and they just opened ICO register today. They are requiring people to install an extension as part of the KYC that wants to "read and change all your data on the websites you visit".

112  Economy / Marketplace / [Question] Bitcoin Quilts would you buy one? on: March 09, 2018, 11:48:19 AM
Question: Looking to see if there is interest in Bitcoin or Cryptocurrency quilts/throws.

I have access to a local community of quilters that raise money for their quilt guild, breast cancer and other charities. I was going to pitch them the idea of creating some quilts related to Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency. I would than Auction/Sell them off here on the forums.

Some of the ideas:
Custom QR Codes
Bitcoin (Ethereum, Neo etc) Quilt
They can range in size, but I felt like a Throw (Lap Quilt) 60'x60' (153x153cm) would be the size of most interest.

Let me know if you would be interested in buying a quilt or throw.
or
If you have any ideas or suggestions of what they could make.

Not to make anyone jealous, but here is one of the quilts they created for me when I was a kid.
113  Other / Off-topic / Amazon FBA Pictures? on: March 08, 2018, 06:43:11 AM

114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Mt. Gox has been dumping on us. on: March 07, 2018, 06:41:22 PM
What do people think of Mt. Gox supposedly dumping on us for the last 2 months.

From what I could find over 35,841 BTC (now BCH also) was from the "hack" and could be the main reason for everything crashing over and over again since December.

Does anyone know of any wallets or data outside of this?
115  Economy / Currency exchange / Recommend Member+ Selling Cryptocurrency on: March 06, 2018, 06:54:44 AM
Hey all,

Can anyone recommend someone Member+ that has a public thread that is selling Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) etc.
Payment: Open to anything.

I've gone through several threads and reached out to a few people, but have not heard anything back.
There also seems to be a lot of big threads that are either abandoned now or the users have been labeled as hacked or sold their accounts.
Note: I can assume some of it has to do with my 'Newbie' rank.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

ECO - Uber co-founder Garrett Camp. NO ICO. 50% Total Supply Given Away.

Free Tokens: https://eco.com
White Paper: https://eco.com/eco-design-proposal-v1.pdf

Article: https://techcrunch.com/2018/03/01/uber-co-founder-garrett-camp-is-creating-a-new-cryptocurrency/

'Garrett Camp, best known for being a co-founder of Uber and founder of the accelerator/venture fund Expa, is launching his own cryptocurrency.

The currency is called Eco, and Camp wants it to be a digital global currency that can be used as a payment tool around the world for daily-use transactions.

There will be one trillion tokens issued initially, of which 50% will be given away to the first one billion verified humans that sign up. 20% will go to the universities running trusted nodes, 10% will go to advisors, 10% will go to strategic partners, and 10% will go to a newly formed Eco Foundation which will be responsible for creating and maintaining the network. Camp as well as a small number of partners affiliated with Expa will also donate $10M to seed the foundation with an operating budget.
