2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Snowblossom : What we know so far... on: November 01, 2018, 05:37:52 AM
Snowblossom (SNOW)
https://snowblossom.org/
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=56989;sa=showPosts;start=380

Current price is about 80 cents. 4 BTC worth have traded hands the last 72 hours. OTC was being traded up to $3 in May.

Anyway :

Entirely new codebase. Unique quantum-resistant POW. Dig through their Slack, that and Github is where the meat is.

Only exchange : https://qtrade.io/market/SNOW_BTC

Current Supply : 1.1M Total Supply : 21M

An info dump :

Completely ground floor with no marketing yet (see website). Main dev has been working on BTC projects and Cryptography since before 2012 Main dev for Satoshi Dice in 2012

Slack community full of Vitalik style nerds

“Someone should do the mathematics on what's the collision chance of shuffling the fields in regards to getting a higher ratio of nicer seeks.

Low fee section in blocks. 1.8 million TPS on testnet. UTXOs in block header, normies can run full-nodes for the next 1000 years because of this, no problem with chain size. Provably ASIC, quantum, and miner centralization resistant. Immutable P2P CASH. Snow channels data distribution network. Web3 that ETH never could be."

Also, isn't it weird that literally nobody is talking about this? I can't find a single major head, twitter, youtube, whatever. That's super strange, no?

Think about it.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ethergem : A reminder that crypto used to be FUN. on: September 22, 2018, 11:55:04 AM
Ethergem https://egem.io/

Circ. Supply : 10M

Total Supply : 40M

Marketcap : 250,000

Exchange : Graviex

Discord : https://discord.gg/KEbHVjW

Old heads should love this, and get on board. EtherGem, "EGEM," is first and foremost, a pure community coin with no pre-mine. That said, I have not been this excited about a project for years, and have no idea how this fell under my radar. I have already set up a Tier 2 Quarry node, will set up a miner, and will be holding to the next halvening. Killer Discord. A DEX coming for created coins, and a 2:1 swap for “Sapphire” , the teams first integrated side-chain. “Opal” light wallet. People are building projects atop EGEM's network, as it's a fork, not an ERC20. Great Discord community, at the ground floor of a project. New node tiers will come that should increase node holders, and reward early adoption and growth. Someone bought $75,000 of this at market recently, clearing the order books, and it fell right back down to a slightly higher floor.

This is for those who remember that things used to be fun. I assure you, they were, if you paid attention. Personally, projects like this are the one that will survive, IMO. This is not intended to be an immediate moon mission, but if the community continues to grow, exponential growth is absolutely possible. Especially if this DEX and new coins continue to be created. It seems like a lot of tech heads dig this, so it should get very interesting. This is /ourcoin/. Poke your miners to EGEM. Buy and run a node. Spread the word. It's going to be a fun few years.

We've seen some great growth in the last week, including our volume jumping 500%.

As always, weigh risk, but this one is definitely one to hold , support, and watch grow. Cheers.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Actinium : The microcap with TOR, Lightning Network, Privacy, and more... on: September 18, 2018, 05:33:10 PM
Actinium - https://actinium.org/

Current price : 02.5 cents.
Market Cap : $120,000

Total Supply : 84M
Circulating : 4.3M
Exchange : Tradeogre

Launched on April 25th, 2018, with no pre-mine, no pre-sale, no founders rewards, and the development team owns no significant share of ACM.

“Actinium’s main priority is facilitating the adoption of the Lightning Network. We have already successfully activated SegWit, a necessary protocol for Lightning Network support. Currently developing & porting several tools that will be needed to manage specialized LN-nodes.”

“Goals include Smart Contracts, Atomic Swaps, Lightning Network, 0cash, TOR integration, and more.” Roadmap goals are getting hit. Awaiting Ledger review for HW wallet. GPU friendly algorithms. To activate Tor, users need only enter a single parameter into their configuration file—everything else will be done automatically. The list goes on. Read the bluepaper.

The dev and team is very active in Discord and social media. Clearly, is a labor of love, and at this stage of development, it's in the stealth phase. Think NERVA on a dip from Day 1. Not on Coin Market Cap yet. Donations are being taken for CREX exchange, which will help with volume.

Absolutely huge potential short, mid, and long-term.

Short takeaway : Committed devs. TOR, Atomic Swaps, Lightning ecosystem building, 0cash, Smart Contract platform, all on a project refreshingly fairly created / distributed at a 60K market-cap, about to start finalizing all road-map goals.

Hop into the ACM Discord and poke around. I think you'll like what you see. New exchange (Crex) / CMC is in the works.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Origami Network : A marketplace about to explode (low cap gem alert!) on: April 28, 2018, 03:22:05 AM
ORIGAMI NETWORK
https://ori.network/

Current price : 0.41 cents on IDEX.

Current MC : 1.8M.

Total Supply : 6M

Circulating : 4.3M

Origami Network is a marketplace.  The token actually has a lot of different use-cases.  See the website.

ORI has just switched to bi-monthly updates.  This is the first one where they talk about a partnership with Chainlink. I contacted Chainlink about it and they wouldn't give me much information, other than “if we partner with someone, they will announce it.” https://medium.com/@origaminetwork/origami-network-project-update-april-9th-2018-6e38e81236e9

The thing about this project is : They actually have customers, right now.  6 are already on-boarded, and you can see their marketplaces, which look slick.

Their Main Net is in Q3, but Q2 shows solid growth potential.

The website is clean, but there's spelling errors, and general language wonkiness.  I believe this is due to them being from Europe.  Not a big deal (remember NEO's website?)

Their roadmap shows healthy growth by Q3, if it doesn't die in the water, but why would a project seek a partnership with Chainlink and switch to bi-monthly updates if they were just going to let it die?

It doesn't make any sense for this not to hit at least a 20M market-cap AT LEAST by Q3.

As for FUD...I really don't see too much down-side on this one.  However, this is cryptoland, and anything can happen.

It's been mooning consistently the last few days, and only red-candling due to low-volume poor-boys selling their sheckles at market.

It's my opinion that this may be the last day we see 07's, and 08's should be our new floor going forward, but that's my 2 cents.

Buy on : IDEX.

Cheers.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Bitboost : A hugely undervalued decentralized Amazon. on: January 08, 2018, 02:10:56 AM

Hey all,

BitBoost is currently sitting at a 15 Million Dollar market cap, and that should very well change soon, as it was $1.5M last week.

It's a sort of decentralized Amazon.

They have a solid product and development roadmap.

Just finally put up their subreddit : https://www.reddit.com/r/bitboost/

A strong whitepaper backing up their product, which you can read here : https://www.bitboost.net/whitepaper-theblock.php

Marketing and partnerships are supposedly starting to roll out soon.

You can beta test the marketplace here : http://mailchi.mp/551951ec0aeb/goodbye-2017-hello-2018-our-last-update-for-this-year

Nowhere for this one to head but up, folks.  With this much growth in a short time, new exchanges are coming, it's just a matter of how quickly. Get in on the ground floor.

Strongly consider it.

Cheers.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Alright folks, let's talk about Genesis Vision (GVT)... on: November 29, 2017, 02:04:28 PM
GVT is, supposedly, launching their platform in April. It is less than 2 weeks out the gate. It will also supposedly have FOREX built in. If that happens, with all this futures talk, it's gonna get REAL.

The current MCAP is a paltry 22 Million, with a 4 MILLION SUPPLY.

ICO was something around $1, and it hit Binance around $2, and got gobbled up all the way to $9.20.

I bought at $6 last night. Sold at $7.

This morning, I noticed it was hovering around $5, so I bought in.

It went to $6. I sold. It went to $5. I bought. It went to $6. I did this all friggin' day. Eventually, I said screw it, liquidated my RLC & LINK (at a slight loss), made my money back, and am now up, and in hard on this.

It found a floor at $5.50, and is currently bouncing between $5.50-$6.00.

That said, I see absolutely no reason why this cannot go to $100, bringing it to a 500M market cap, by April. That's 20x. I see $25 by EOY, easily. I am damn near as positive as one can be that this is not another "Confido", as Charlie Shrem is shoving this down everyone's throats, and I suspect will only continue to do so.

DYOR, but I'd say if you're going to get in, now is the time.

buy on Binance.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is it worth moving 1/2 a Bitcoin for the hard-fork? on: October 20, 2017, 02:34:17 AM
Hi all, confused about the hard fork.

Using Exodus wallet, and supposedly they do not support the Bitcoin Gold fork tokens...

The fees on moving a half a bitcoin with Exodus would be a few dollars I think.

Would having 1/2 a coin be worth moving my funds to a supporting wallet?

Thanks!
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Opinion: These are unprecedented times to be in Bitcoin... on: October 19, 2017, 01:05:20 AM
Hey all.  New to the game, and finally signed up for all the things mere days before that major China FUD went down. Lucky me I guess, though I only had the funds to buy less than half a coin.

However, after years of watching, let me say this:

These are insanely exciting times to be in the market.

I often see people saying "It's too late!  I wish I had...", and I think that is ridiculous.  We're only getting started, in my opinion, with the new groundworks of so many different branches of the industry, you are now about to see the second layer of so many good things, with new rivals coming in for privacy, POS, banking, platforms. Our major "firsts" like Ethereum, Monero, etc have clutched the market, but it's only a matter of time before their code is used to rise another, better, stronger branch. Most solid projects are still just babies.

If you need a reminder, go look at the Coin Market Cap screenshot from January 2017.

Don't let China fool you. It's my opinion they will come back in insane ways. I live here, and I know them. As you buy into projects, don't forget home-grown Chinese tokens. They stick to their own like nobody else, and theres over one billion people here, with so much new money it'd make your head spin.

It's also my opinion, that we are seeing unprecedented times for alternative coins.

Right now, many are bleeding.  If you bought in at highs, I apologize, but if you didn't, read until your eyes bleed, pick a few project that interest you, buy in as much as you can, AND THEN WALK AWAY FROM THEM FOR A FEW MONTHS.

Every major dip in Bitcoin at this point adds millions of potential dollars that can (and likely will) flow elsewhere in the upcoming weeks.

I highly suggest you do not day-trade alts right now unless you have serious disposable funding.  If you are down, WAIT!  I burned myself just a tad ($30) to make one swap, and that's my limit.  Not learning any lessons the hard way.

People who are new : Place your bets, and sit on them until the new year, and chances are, you will be glad you did.

Keep panic at bay, and remember, you made these decisions originally for a reason.

Trust yourself.

We're only just beginning, my friends.

Good luck out there.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Privacy Alt-coins that could rival Monero / Dash / ZCash....? on: October 18, 2017, 12:45:29 AM
Hey all,

Been digging into privacy coins lately, and seeking a new, lower priced alternative to Monero / Dash / Zcash for future holding.

Looked into Zencash, but it seems to be a fork of a fork...not sure how I feel about that.

With so many alternatives, most which sit around $5....

VIVO $6.34
KORE $5.46
ZENCASH 6.83
PIVX $3.74
PARTICL $5.75

How do you wrap your head around a good pick?

Any new players upcoming, or recently released?
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Talk to me about this hard fork... (re : Storage / Partial BTC = BTG?) on: October 17, 2017, 01:50:32 PM
Hey all,

I'm new, and a bit confused about the upcoming hard fork.

I only own part of a BTC, less than half, bought during the major China crash (I signed up merely days before, just my luck I guess.)

Would this receive BTC Gold during the fork, if held in the correct wallet?

I currently use Exodus, which I really like, but supposedly they do not support this coin at the fork.

The fees for Exodus would be more than a few dollars, I think, to move this much BTC, and I'd really rather not move it TBH.

What are my options?  I've heard of mobile phone wallets, but that makes me nervous.

Would the amount of BTC Gold be worth moving my funds?

Thanks.

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / What the hell is going on with OMNI? on: October 13, 2017, 05:01:04 AM
$22 -> $43 in the last few hours. $65 ATH.

I know nothing about this coin.

I'm an idiot for not getting in last night, but...I know so little about the project.  Follow a wormhole from here for a bit and came across it.

Pretty nuts.

Bet those who bought in early are loving this, but a year was a long wait.

Look into it.

Cheers.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / As a newbie, what would you do now... (Sell profits, or buy more Dips?) on: October 10, 2017, 04:26:32 AM
Hey all,

I am new here, and got my start JUST as this China news was rolling out. I missed my buy option for $1,000 right as it broke below $3,000, but got in the next night at $3,500. I bought some alt-coins and have been sitting, watching, ever since.

I am wondering what you seasoned vets would do right now. I know a majority option would be HODL, but honestly, this is quite good profits for only a few weeks. Really wondering if you all would be for or against liquidating now, and re-investing profits, since they are around $450 ATM.

I'm thinking if I only reinvested profits over the next year, I could keep all "real" skin out of the game, and creep my way up to a full 1 BTC in profits. With prices rising, though, that may continue to get more and more difficult.

I have some small amounts of BTC bought more toward the $4,300 mark.  Was also thinking of selling those portions at profit now, building up my FIAT over the next few months, and buying a larger chunk if we dip well below $3,800 or so...but that of course may never happen.

Here's where I'm at :

1.) .50 Ethereum @ $325 (current loss $-12.50)
2.) 10 NEO @ $20.50 (current profit $80)
3.) 200 BQX @ 0.75 (current loss $35)
4.) .40 BTC @ 3,700 (current profits $426)

Current total profits : $480 or so.

Definitely HODL'ing NEO and BQX.

As for BTC...

What would you do?
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / ICON - ICO in 23 hours ... on: September 19, 2017, 04:53:19 AM
Who's in on this ICON ICO?

Looks interesting.  Being touted as "Korea's ETH / NEO" by Youtubers, but I don't know the validity in that.  Huh

ICO starts in 23 hours.  I've been in and out of their Slack.  Communication seems good.  Slack channel is ripe with scammers, and negativity, but nobody really want to explain much of their negativity.

Figured since I don't see much on here, I'd start a thread.

Might throw in for a little ETH.

I've only seen a few people chatting about this.  Who's in?

16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Thoughts from a newbie to the market. (Fear, Stupidity, and Observations) on: September 18, 2017, 03:14:53 AM
Hey.

Holy hell, what a time to finally enter the market for the first time.  I've read about it for years, but never brought myself to dip my toes in.

Like many of you, I've been watching Bitcoin by the sidelines for years. Years of "coulda, shoulda, woulda" turned into me finally setting up platforms last week, and buying in for a couple hundred dollars.

I live in China, but am American, and have a bit of money each month to burn, so I figured now is the right time.  No problems with internet usage with my multiple-VPN solutions.

My first transaction went through, as I signed up for Coinbase / GDAX, Bittrex, Polo, and got a decent wallet.

Shortly after, the fall began.

For 48 hours, I watched it plunge.  I had funds at the ready for my first decent entry to the market, 1/3 of a coin.  At the peak of the dive, $2,900, I waited.

I guess that was my first lesson learned.  Don't wait too long.  Within an hour, it was back up to $3,700.  I cursed myself, and waited.

Hoping for a creep back around the low 3's, it didn't quite happen, so I finally dove in at $3,450.  I'm happy with that.

This probably won't win me any brownie points, but I must say: BTC BOARDS ARE A TERRIFYING place!  So many pure guesses, emotional baggage, and blind stupidity masquerading as fact.  I watched as this board, and Reddit, melted down as it dipped.  I watched people state IT CAN'T DO THIS THING, followed by it doing exactly that thing.  A good lot of you have no idea what the hell you are talking about, and these public forums can be a very messed up place for newbies to dig.

This may seem obvious, but I plead with newbies to :

Take everything read on here, Reddit, your choice of research platforms, with a grain of salt.

Do a ton of research on your own, and avoid knee-jerk reaction.

If you tell yourself you're going to do something, then DO IT!  FOMO is real, but in my case, an entry at $3,000 would have been great.  I hesitated not knowing how low it'd dip.  I guess that's the game, though.

An hour can make all the difference.

STOP MAKING YOURSELF LOSE MONEY!  Easier said than done, but jesus.  Aside from protection (from yourself, security and monetarily), rule number one should be BUY LOW, and SELL HIGH. The amount of people who bought in at $4,900 and sold at $3,000 is goddamn terrifying to me.  I get fear and panic, but christ, if you already put that much in, just wait.  Again, I suppose, easier said than done.

Trust yourself.

So far, I think I've got a good entry to the market.  Crept towards .4 BTC.  A dozen or so shares of NEO.  A touch of ETH.

Going to wait until the dust settles on all of this.

It's my hope, we hit some more serious dips on 9/30 and 10/30 as China breathes its last gasp of major control, and I edge my way to a full 1 BTC, and finally have some decent skin in the game on this.

Poking around in ICO's.  This ICON thing looks pretty decent, and I'm keeping an eye on some good ICO entry points to try and maximize profits from the get go.  I'm in this long term now.

Anyways....I could go on, but...that's my 2 LTC.

Cheers, and HODL strong

- HMD.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The dust has settled...how did you fare? on: September 15, 2017, 11:17:50 PM
Jesus, man.  What a time to literally just enter the market.

After setting up my platforms and dipping my toes in the water with a few small buys, I sat the last 48 hours, with my finger on the buy button for 1/3 of a BTC.  I watched as it dipped, and dipped.  I was a half a second away from clicking "buy" as prices dipped to $2,950, and I didn't do it.

...then I watched it rise to $3,700 in mere minutes.

First rookie mistake, I suppose.

I live in China, and will see how this day plays out.  Hoping for a dip around $3,200 today as China does its thing.  Knowing enough about this whole deal, I know I shouldn't wait too much longer.

What I saw last night blew my mind.  So much panic.  So much misinformation.  So many "IT CAN'T DO THIS.  IMPOSSIBLE." followed by it doing exactly that thing.

Hell of a ride last night.

Cheers to you all.
18  Economy / Speculation / What's best to buy now with BTC hovering around $3,000? (Newbie) on: September 15, 2017, 02:00:49 AM
Hey all. New to the game. Just got in. Bought a few hundred worth a couple days ago, to put on the exchanges and dip my toes in the water at $4,300.

With this recent crash, I've been thinking about investing $1,000 or so later tonight.  Not only will this lower my loss to the initial purchase, it seems like a good idea.

What should I be eyeing here? Should I put it all into BTC?

Buy a few Ethereum?

Grip some alt-coins like Monero?

A question I can't seem to wrap my head around, is if Ethereum will always be "tied" to Bitcoin's price. Are they tethered so when BTC goes down, so does ETH?
  Will it ever separate?

Would love your thoughts.

Not too worried about the $1,000 as if a VERY hard dip comes, I can always buy in more. I'm gonna HODL.

Best,

J
