1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / *** [OFFICIAL HOWDOO ANNOUNCEMENT] - Howdoo Bounty Payment Re-Opens *** on: September 11, 2019, 08:00:41 PM
We are pleased to announced that whilst KYC was closed earlier this year, we wish to grant more time in order to resolve any missing payments.

Due to feedback received we understand that not everyone was able to complete the KYC within the time frame we announced. Therefore, in order to act in good faith, we have taken the decision to re-open the window.

The KYC window will open on Monday September 16th and close on November 16th, 2019.

Details will be released asap.

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / A world of influence – at your fingertips on: April 06, 2018, 01:43:11 PM
So people value the recommendations of friends and family over the glossy, purpose-built ad campaigns fired at us by major brands. Who knew!

To be honest, it’s hardly surprising when you consider the level of ‘noise’ we’re now bombarded with on a daily basis.

But at Howdoo, we believe such ‘influencer marketing’ should be more of a user and community-driven activity – with rewards for engagement shared among those people actively involved in creating new, exciting content.

But what say you?

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Introducing the uDoo cryptotoken: on: March 15, 2018, 09:52:46 PM
Everybody seems to be launching new cryptocurrencies.

That’s not a bad thing, but it does create a problem: how to find them gems among the trash – the potential from the scam.

At Howdoo, we know there are only so many things we can do to promote the idea of our cryptotoken, the µDoo, as worthwhile.  That said, we do think the underlying story of µDoo, its utility and potential, is certainly worth taking note of.

What it comes down to is showing the token’s utility – how and where it will be used, which in turn will create mass adoption and mass interest.

As for how we plan to do that, you can find out more here www.howdoo.io
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Putting a price on privacy on: March 02, 2018, 03:53:10 PM
Your personal data is important. Arguably, it’s one of the few remaining things in your life that remains truly private.

Or so we’d like to think.

The reality is that open an account with one of the more popular social media platforms and they’ll soon end up knowing you better than you do yourself – or so they’d have us believe (or should I say, as they’d have the advertisers believe).

Ay Howdoo we say enough is enough. If I want to take back control and go ‘stealth’ I should have that right – which means my digital footprint flatlines. If I want to receive relevant advertising, and in turn be rewarded for engaging with it, that too should be my right.

As always, thoughts and feedback are welcome.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Social media on the blockchain brings the promise of sharing value for activitiy on: February 23, 2018, 03:37:43 PM
Social media on the blockchain brings with it the promise of sharing value for activities (engagement with advertising, community moderation etc.) through cryptotokens.

The question this then poses is: who’s entitled to what? Surely the more active users deserve a bigger share than the occasional visitor right?

This is where a proof of contribution score enters the picture: a mathematical formula for calculating who’s doing what – and rewarding active participation.

At Howdoo we believe this is important because it’s about fairness. If a social network is to be truly user and community-driven, openness and transparency is critical.

More detail is available in our latest article: Howdoo feature focus: proof of contribution <Insert hyperlink>. The specifics of this POC equation are also available in our whitepaper.

As always – comments welcome.

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cryptotoken + messaging/social media platform makes for interesting conversation on: February 20, 2018, 02:10:47 PM
First there’s the ability to share: particularly advertising rebates given to this who engage with any materials they’re prepared to receive.

Then there’s the chance to stimulate commerce – as well as the flow of international payments between users regardless of location or political border.

We put together an article that provides the short overview, entitled: Pay as you play (or how to combine the transfer of value with a social media platform).

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What could the blockchain mean for social media platforms? on: February 16, 2018, 12:28:35 PM
It’s an interesting question that explores the benefits that come with a more decentralized and distributed make-up.

What it really comes down to though is choice and control. It’s about giving users far greater control over their experience, their personal data, and the way certain behaviors can be incentivized and rewarded.

For the summary overview, see the article ‘Putting social media on the chopping block(chain)’ at https://medium.com/howdoo. Thoughts?

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Do we want adverts on our social media? on: February 13, 2018, 11:16:07 AM
If you’re like me, you’ll be sick of them. Unsolicited, constant, repetitive. What’s more, I don’t receive a penny for engaging with them should I choose to.

Hence why brands are doing the only thing they know: sending even more our way. And also why we’re just treating it all as background noise to be (mostly) ignored.

But what if the rules of engagement changed – and we were actively rewarded for engaging with ads – would that make you change your habits.

It’s an interesting question, which is covered in our new blog post on https://medium.com/howdoo. Tell us what you think!

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Censorship by any other name? on: February 09, 2018, 04:25:18 PM
It seems official –we now live in the Age of Influence, which means we really need to question whom exactly is shaping the news and content we have access to.

With Twitter being recently exposed for its policy of ‘shadow banning’ conservative and ‘contrary’ tweets we can already see that the war on our minds is hotting up – and social media is proving to be the front line.

Check out our new article on https://medium.com/howdoo - and let us know your thoughts!

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Time for some anti-social (media) behavior? on: January 30, 2018, 12:53:28 PM
I think most people on this forum would agree (tell me of you don’t) that existing social media channels have for the most part turned out bad for users (or at least not as we’d hoped!). A loss of personal data, advertisers able to buy it ‘behind your back’ and then to bombard you with noise that you never asked for – and value creators receiving little reward for their time spent creating content etc.

Really it comes down now to challenging ourselves to re-imagine social media – to factor in the power of blockchain, and a decentralized mode. But what should we be demanding – and what can we expect?

You can find a link to an interesting article on the topic here – would love to hear your views!

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / [OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT] - [HOWDOO] on: December 20, 2017, 01:20:57 PM
Welcome to Howdoo – a decentralized messaging and social media platform for today’s generation.

What is it?

Howdoo let’s you do all the things you love to do with social media and messaging – sharing, caring, and staying up to date – but without losing control of your digital footprint or the amount of advertising if any you receive. It’s about putting the power back into the hands of users, and enabling them to earn, transact, and be rewarded for their contributions.

Leveraging the Ethereum blockchain, Howdoo will transform the social media experiences of four core audiences:

  • Users
  • Content Creators
  • Sellers
  • Advertisers

We encourage the community to evaluate our offering, to ask questions, and to provide feedback – all of which will help shape the future evolution of the Howdoo platform.

Howdoo: Why should people care?

Social media and messaging platforms clearly need a new direction to head in. A direction that takes them away from the established players who use their platforms and the volumes of personal data they hold on each user to generate huge fortunes – and to exert increasing editorial control over what people can see, earn, and do.

That’s why Howdoo is a stand out proposition because it represents not just a new platform, but also a new approach – the next logical evolution of online social engagement. It’s designed to put the user at the very center of the experience. Where they will be able to shape their environment, to decide for themselves if they want to accept advertising, and for those that do to be rewarded for their attention.

This is also a platform for content creators, for people who want to earn a larger percentage of the revenues generated by their activities – and to do so without the fear of editorial scrutiny and potential exclusion. And it’s a platform for both sellers and brands, with the latter able to engage with people actually prepared to listen, and to maintain a clear view of how relevant their advertising is and where it’s being seen.

Incentivizing value across the network

Additionally, Howdoo will enable this flow of value across the platform by attaching a cryptotoken – the µDoo – to it. Implemented on the Ethereum blockchain as an ERC20 token, the µDoo will facilitate the sharing of incentives, commerce, and advertising rebates throughout the network. It will also offer a cheaper, easier, and more convenient way to transfer value both nationally and internationally through a teller network that itself will be incentivized to deliver a competitive and quality service.

The Howdoo offering

For today’s generation of social media users:
A network for sharing and messaging
The ability to control their experience and environment
Incentivized rewards for active participation

For content creators:
Earn a minimum 60% of the advertising rebate generated
Complete confidence in audience figures and statistics
Work free from any centralized editorial control

For sellers and advertisers:

Access to audiences that are prepared to engage
Insights into where and when their advertising is appearing
Active feedback to help improve future activities

For payments:
A cryptotoken to help share value across the network
Immediate ability to convert tokens into fiat currency
International teller network for converting value for unbanked customers

More detailed information on the Howdoo approach can be found on our Website, and in the Whitepaper.

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining Litecoin on: December 15, 2017, 10:29:58 AM
Hi All,

Does anyone have experience of mining Litecoin since the price has soared. I was looking at Amazon AWS Servers but the profitability was outweighed by the costs.

That was however when Litecoin was $40 each.

Would be interested to know if there are any recent test bench results?

Thanks,

Mark
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Welcome to Howdoo: a decentralized social media and messaging platform on: December 13, 2017, 01:15:53 PM
So the big announcement (at least from my perspective) is that Howdoo has opened for business – and by that I mean, our whitepaper offering and website are now live. A lot of time and effort has gone into this (our alpha product is not far away), and with it – hopefully – a fresh alternative to the existing social media order.

As for what Howdoo ‘is’: it’s a messaging and social media platform that’s big on protecting personal data, and giving people the power to control and shape their user experiences. It’s about choice, and letting individuals share and care with those that matter; it’s about monetizing a person’s attention, and rewarding them for any advertising they agree to consume (if any); it’s about providing suitable reward to users and content creators for their contributions and ability to drive traffic across the site; and it’s about inspiring a smarter approach to online advertising, and incentivizing more relevant and meaningful engagement.

These and many other features are details on our:

Website
Whitepaper

We would love to hear the thoughts and feedback of the community, and encourage all and any feedback!

Talk soon,

Team Howdoo
