1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Mobile Tool for Flagging BTC and ETH tokens with a criminal past on: September 20, 2019, 06:10:27 PM
CipherTrace has announced an app coined Scout that tracks and documents illicit crypto transactions. The app traces addresses through the blockchain to identify which coins may have been used dark market and ransomware.

Do you  think people are likely to use this app? Also, who would get the most use of it?

2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Travel Rule Protocol for Cryptocurrency Businesses on: September 11, 2019, 06:15:46 PM
Security firm Ciphertrace just announce the release of its Travel Rule Information Sharing Architecture (TRISA) allowing crypto businesses to handle the recent travel rule set into regulations.

Provided for free as open-source software. This comes after FATF recent recommended guidelines for exchanges. TRISA is looking to provide security when sharing information between VASPS.

I know there might be a lot of push back from people in regards to preserving privacy but this might be better than governments slapping down regulations hard on exchanges.

3  Other / Beginners & Help / How to Keep Your Crypto Safe on: August 27, 2019, 08:11:28 PM
After CipherTrace's quarterly report showcased $227 million stolen from exchange incidents so far this raises conversation around what people can do to protect themselves from sim swapping, malware, and typosquatting (which is new to me.)

What are other forms of protection users to become aware to?

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Will Crypto Intelligence be the Solution to FATF Regulations? on: August 07, 2019, 07:48:49 PM
Right now everyone has been watching the FATF Regulations closely and waiting to see if the government will drop the hard ball of flat out laws. While their involvement has been more alive than ever, I am interested in what everyone's thoughts were about companies that provide crypto intelligence solutions that are able to analyze scams, money laundering and stolen funds.

This report by Ciphertrace shows just how much criminals stole and people lost https://ciphertrace.com/articles/q1-2019-cryptocurrency-anti-money-laundering-report/

It's actually really alarming and this is only Q1!

I have a good feeling that companies that offer this type of technology might be the bridge between regulators and the crypto community. What do you guys think? Will there be a meeting point?

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Kucoin has Joined NULS as a Mainnet Node on: July 31, 2019, 06:06:17 PM

7  Bitcoin / Legal / Israeli hacker stole $1.7M in Crypto from Europeans on: July 18, 2019, 05:36:37 PM
We have yet again another crypto theft of BTC, ETH and Dash. https://thenextweb.com/hardfork/2019/07/18/israeli-charged-theft-1-7m-cryptocurrency-europeans/

When I first saw Ciphertrace's reported $350 million worth of stolen cryptocurrency last quarter I thought that number was insane but after seeing these stories of hackers/scams come to the surface it makes so much more sense
8  Economy / Exchanges / Binance Cuts Time needed for BTC Deposits and Withdrawls on: July 11, 2019, 09:26:19 PM
Has anyone experience the recent Binance transaction speed? The amount of time is now halved for BTC from two confirmations to one and down from 30 to 12 for ETH.

They made some dramatic shifts in terms of regulation by adding new partnerships between IdentityMind, Elliptic and Ciphertrace to help with their AML procedures and I was wondering if this had anything to do with the time being adjusted.

9  Bitcoin / Legal / CipherTrace and Shyft unveil a fix for draconian FATF anti-terrorism rules on: July 03, 2019, 10:52:01 PM
Exchanges are now able to protect the identities of their users thanks to Ciphertrace (crypto intelligence solutions) and Shyft (identity solutions provider).

The FATF released the so-called 'Travel Rule' which would strip a lot of exchanges of their privacy features but the solution comes in the form of smart contracts and 'cryptographic access controls' to manage access to private details.

Positive move forward for the industry? I think so.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / The Easiest Blockchain to Deploy on: June 28, 2019, 11:04:59 PM
Out-of-the-box blockchain style approach, NULS is on their way to creating a blockchain that is quick to start and customizable. They even have a cross-chain consensus which makes it super easy to connect the larger ecosystem. I have a strong feeling this is the type of blockchain platform that will reach greater adoption because of its ease of set up.

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How to Solve the Spate of Cryptocurrency Thefts on: May 14, 2019, 08:15:05 PM

This interview couldn't have came at a better time especially with the recent Binance hack. Dave Jevans is the CEO of Ciphertrace which reports on AML for crypto and I feel that his advice is important to learn for all of us.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Building the Unstoppable Web on: May 13, 2019, 02:07:04 PM
https://medium.com/@TrustlessState/pov-crypto-episode-47-building-the-unstoppable-web-with-bradley-kam-ccdc61b1bf78

Unstoppable domains is a pretty exciting project imo. I also learned about the platform Zilliqa's IPFS and website hosting platform in which they are using to build out blockchain domain names. I never really thought of this as a thing before but one address to link all your addresses seems super relevant and easy to change the 24+ character string into something more recognizable like cryptocat.zil

14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / 5 Biggest Crypto Exchange Heists in History on: May 13, 2019, 01:25:54 PM
https://bitcoinist.com/top-5-biggest-crypto-exchange-heists-in-history/

I found this article interesting discussing how the recent Binance hack is 6th worst hack among 5 others that have happened in the history of BTC and crypto. According to Ciphertrace 2018 was the works year of exchange hacks comparatively to all other years maybe because of the bear market?

Were any of you affected? I can tell the general sentiment about exchanges... do you think matters are getting better or worse for crypto?
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / AML Compliance for Crypto Exchanges! on: April 12, 2019, 05:06:56 PM
Binance has partnered with blockchain analytics CipherTrace to help with on-chain securities and help define a world-class AML compliance program. There is a rising demand for blockchain security as global expansion takes place and compliance is needed more than ever.

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Will one blockchain rule them all? on: February 04, 2019, 07:58:14 PM
https://medium.com/ampleforth/independent-currency-in-a-multi-chain-world-67032dce8296

Just read this article about where the Ampleforth protocol stands amongst the competition of other blockchains. I think its cool to see that they plan to deploy many chains on multiple platforms using cosmos or polkadot in the future. What are your thoughts? I think this might help reignite the doubt in crypto atm
