1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / CipherTrace Scout App Takes Crypto Investigations Mobiile on: September 20, 2019, 05:38:50 PM
Cybersecurity firm Ciphertrace announced today a mobile tool they built that "traces" addresses through the blockchain to identify what coins may have been used in dark market purchase or ransomware attacks.

The rise in street crime coupled with crypto is what sparked the resurgence of a visualization of how money "crypto' is moving.

I haven't had the chance to check it out yet but I think it's wild this all can be done on a app now. What do you guys think?

2  Other / Off-topic / UK Police Arrest Teen for Hacking Unreleased Music to Sell for Crypto on: September 13, 2019, 05:12:03 PM
A 19-yaer old in London has been arrested for finding unreleased songs and selling them for digital currency. This is a growing trend according to blockchain security company Ciphertrace.

Granted more large players in the entertainment industry are embracing digital currency. I think the two will be very successful together.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / NULS Forms Parnership with BitSG Blockchain Service Agency + Exchange on: August 07, 2019, 08:28:39 PM
Singapore's top blockchain service agency BitSG partnered with NULS which will foster project incubation, commercial obboarding and token circulation! I've noticed a few threads in here talking about country with the greatest blockchain adoption and I would have to say Singapore is one my top guesses.

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Defining Proof of Stake on: July 08, 2019, 02:29:27 AM
I liked this breakdown of the current definition of Proof of Stake and how there are three known problems behind the current definition. See below:

“PoS refers to the entire class of mechanisms whereby the amount of cryptocurrency you hold determines the extent to which you can participate in consensus.”

Problem 1: Very high level and ignores real externalties.
Problem 2: No distinction between systems with different properties.
Problem 3: Systems with similar non-stake mechanisms end up getting unfairly grouped together.

What I liked about this article is that it explains to the reader that just by claiming PoS doesn't give the  platform enough respect and knowledge where due.

What  are your thoughts on the current definition and PoS systems?

Pretty cool to hear up and coming Elixxir receive 870 submissions in over 80 countries to run a node!!! Spearheaded by cypherpunk and inventor of Digicash (first crypto), David Chaum this project looks promising in my book.

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / WeChat and Venmo Biggest Competition on: March 26, 2019, 12:52:22 AM
We're long overdue for a decentralized messaging app and Elixxir is one of the first I've seen that is planning to be both a messaging and digital payments app. Spearheaded by a crypto legend too so that's saying something.

They're currently in their node selection process before launch but I think we should all be watching this one

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Fragments rebrands to Ampleforth and intros non-collateralized stablecoin on: December 06, 2018, 08:05:36 PM
Exciting news for fans of Fragments: https://www.cryptoninjas.net/2018/12/06/fragments-rebrands-to-ampleforth-and-introduces-non-collateralized-stablecoin/

Awesome project backed by pantera capital and FBG capital. Team is from google and uber.

I like the position that they bring to the whole stablecoin debacle with "a framework for creating a stablecoin that is inflation-proof, sovereign free and capable of storing both near and long-term value."

Quote
The Ampleforth protocol moves volatility from unit price to unit count and achieves price stability by algorithmically expanding and contracting supply among holders based on demand. Previously, Fragments used a smart contract called the reserve that resembled a central bank and would achieve price stability by making high volume trades.

Thoughts on Fragments?

Been looking for signature campaigns. Found a good one here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3173983.msg32852311#msg32852311
Algebraix also has a beta tester airdrop where you can earn 15,000 ALX tokens for downloading their beta and providing feedback. Very interesting project too.

Any other ones??
20  Economy / Economics / What do you think about stablecoins and price volatility? on: March 13, 2018, 10:02:06 PM
Hey guys, saw this read today about stablecoins and I'm curious what you think about them. Personally not a fan of tether for obvious reasons lol. Heard about the up and coming havven which isn't backed by fiat or gold. All very interesting projects that can lead to everyday transactions.
