1  Economy / Services / A new advertising project: Payments can be made and received with bitcoin on: August 13, 2011, 04:21:52 PM
Greetings everyone,

We're currently working on a "Project Wonderful" inspired advertising project, called "Adimp".

To clarify:
Site owners can publish their ads on their website and earn money (like Google Adsense).
Advertisers then must bid a certain amount of money per day they want their ad to appear on said site.

This can lead to cheap advertising for advertisers, yet a sure income for the site owners (since you pay per day, not per click)

The main difference with Project Wonderful is our form of "segmentation".
On Project Wonderful you can only bid on American, Canadian, European or "other" traffic.
Adimp lets you bid per country, browser and operating system.

The project is still in a beta phase. It's not possible to add or withdraw funds yet.
Our goal is to gather beta testers who want to put an adspace up on their website.

This way we can work out the kinks with real-live data and go live within a few weeks with a modest offering of available adspaces.

Adimp will take about 14% of the biddings, but this is reduced to 7% for beta testers.

You can take a look at:

2  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Get a free beer on BelgianFlavours.com on: June 18, 2011, 12:27:11 PM
As you may or may not know, Belgian Flavours sells Belgian beers, candy and chocolate.

We currently have a promotion running for a free Rodenbach or Duvel beer.
Just add either one to your cart and enter the FREERODENBACH or FREEDUVEL coupon when you check out.

You can now order these on-line at www.belgianflavours.com

Should you miss anything in our catalog (some kind of Belgian beer or candy you can't seem to find) don't hesitate to contact us.

We started accepting payments via Bitcoin a few weeks back.
We've had a handful of bitcoin orders since then, and they've always run very smoothly. I much prefer it to paypal.

Feedback, questions, ... are always welcome.
3  Other / Beginners & Help / HD6950 mobo requirements on: June 17, 2011, 11:25:44 PM
I bought my first HD6950 card a few days back, hoping it would work on my P5N-E card lying around. Alas, it does not. (It works for a minute, then the screen goes blank)
Lots of people have problems getting those 2 to work, apparently.

But now I saw HD6950 is based on PCI Express 2.1. Is it required that the motherboard uses that, too? Or is 2.0 enough?

The hardware requirements on AMD's site say nothing about that, btw:
PCI Express® based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard.

Has anyone been able to run this card on an Intel 775 motherboard?
4  Bitcoin / Mining / European going to buy his first ATI card tomorrow. Any suggestions? on: June 10, 2011, 11:41:23 PM
There isn't a shortage of ATI cards this side of the pond yet, but I wonder what my best option is.
Prices seem a bit more expensive than the prices people in the U.S. used to pay for them.

A local store has these cards:

HD 6950 1gb Gddr5 for € 226.10 (800 Mhz processor, 400 Mhz RAM DAC, 5000 Mhz memory speed)

Eah 6870 2di2s 1gd5 for € 205.19 (915 Mhz processor, 400 Mhz RAM DAC, 1050 Mhz memory speed)

HD 6850 Overclocked Edition 1gb Gddr5 for € 176.62 (820 Mhz, 400 Mhz RAM DAC, 4400 Mhz memory speed)

HD 6850 1gb Gddr5 Pci-e for € 155.01 (775 Mhz, 400 Mhz RAM DAC, 4000 Mhz memory speed)

R5850 Twin Frozr II / Radeon Hd 5850 1gb for € 198.69 (725 Mhz, 400 Mhz RAM DAC, 4000 Mhz memory speed)

So any suggestion as to what the best option is here?
5  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Belgianflavours.com: Buy beer, candy & chocolates with your bitcoins on: May 30, 2011, 11:09:56 PM
* Accidentally places this in the root "Marketplace" forum, whilst is should have been put here. So:

Belgium is known for its rich assortment of beers and chocolate.
You can now order these on-line at http://www.belgianflavours.com

Since there is currently no bitcoin extension for Magento, after you have checked out (and have chosen the bitcoin payment option) we will send you an e-mail with further instructions.

Should you miss anything in our catalogue (some kind of Belgian beer or candy you can't seem to find) don't hesitate to contact us.
(Do not ask for "Westvleteren" beer, though. It is very hard to get, even in Belgium)

Feedback is welcome.

*Edit: You can now browse the shop in Bitcoin. The currency selector is visible when you enter the site, and on every product page.

The store has been on-line for a few weeks now, we are very excited to get going with Bitcoin as a payment method.

*Edit: Silly me, just noticed this should go in the "Selling" section.
