Economy / Gambling discussion / Do you watch the matches you're gambling on
|
on: March 28, 2019, 08:11:01 PM
|
Two and a half year ago I decided to be a cable cutter, so I canceled my cable subscription, that included around 10 sports channels, after that, I have lived with movie and series streaming options like Netflix, the only time I paid to get access to stream sport was for one month at the 2018 world cup.
But I still gamble each day on sports, most of my gamble is on football, but I never or almost never watch any games live.
How important is it to be able to watch the matches to make correct bets on the teams. I don't think it has made any difference for me, I still withdraw more money than I deposit from my sport bookmakers.
My question is, do you watch the games your gambling on?

In episode one of the second season of the Netflix sci-fi series OA, we are introduced to the cryptocurrency Ethereum. Around 5 minutes into the opening scene of episode one, we meet an older homeless immigrant woman, who needs help from a private inspector, she doesn’t look like she have any money, but when she was asked for money, she quickly navigates on her Smartphone and find her Mobil wallet, where she has $31.000 of Ethereum. We are then told that Ether is virtual money, a digital currency just like Bitcoins. “What’s ether? Is that some kind of, like, digital currency? Is it like a bitcoin? Without making any spoiler, we later learn that ether is used as prize money, smart people can win on a Smartphone game, the better they are, the higher the payouts.

Economy / Trading Discussion / weird drop in bitcoin price on coinmarket cap for one hour
|
on: March 06, 2019, 03:03:40 AM
|
Around 2 hours ago there was a weird drop in the price in Bitcoins on CoinMarketCap, Bitcoins dominance was even under 50% in that price drop, I can't see any major exchange that experiences a price drop, and the price didn't fall on coingecko or other sites. But now it's back to normal again.

The new National Geographic - 6 episode series - Valley of the boom. Tell’s the stories about how the internet got big in the late 1990’s and the tect boom and crash in Silicon Valley. I find many parallel to the crypto currency boom in this series, where people got millionaire over night. With just a very simple homepage without any product, just like we seen people got millionaire in the Altcoins boom, just with a simple crypto related whitepaper, without any product. You can see the series for free on National Geographic homepage. https://www.nationalgeographic.com/tv/valley-of-the-boom/youtube trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTv-s_rOFcQ

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Today 10 years ago, Bitcoin can go to 10 million Dollars one day!
|
on: January 11, 2019, 02:49:01 PM

The Bitcoin Blockchain was only a week old when Hal Finney, who was one of the Bitcoin pioneers together with Satoshi Nakamoto, In a private e-mail to Satoshi Nakamoto wrote that Bitcoin one day cut have a value of $10.000.000 for one Bitcoin. There is no timeframe for that prediction and Bitcoins are still very far away from being that dominant payment system in the world Hal Finney was dreaming about. But Hal Finney cut really see the potential for Bitcoins as a store of wealth and as a payment system for a decentralizes future, before anybody else. https://www.mail-archive.com/cryptography@metzdowd.com/msg10152.html"Hal Finney" Sun, 11 Jan 2009 10:22:14 -0800 "As an amusing thought experiment, imagine that Bitcoin is successful and becomes the dominant payment system in use throughout the world. Then the total value of the currency should be equal to the total value of all the wealth in the world. Current estimates of total worldwide household wealth that I have found range from $100 trillion to $300 trillion. With 20 million coins, that gives each coin a value of about $10 million.
So the possibility of generating coins today with a few cents of compute time may be quite a good bet, with a payoff of something like 100 million to 1! Even if the odds of Bitcoin succeeding to this degree are slim, are they really 100 million to one against? Something to think about...

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Do NEO have any future?
|
on: August 17, 2018, 11:26:23 AM
|
NEO was for a long time the biggest Altcoins in my portfolio, but after Ontology was made NEO seems to have been in trouble, the price of NEO keeps dropping and it has lost more than 80% this year. The total supply of Ontology are 10 times bigger than the total supply of NEO, and the price of Ontology are now around 11% of the price of NEO, this means that if all coins from both project was on the market, and they will one day, then Ontology would have a bigger market cap than NEO. So what is the future of neo, I still hold most of my NEO but is worth holding it, or should I go full into ontology, or should I just work away from both coins?
