1  Other / Off-topic / What will pirateat40 do with his booty / bounty ? on: July 05, 2012, 09:56:55 PM
I am thinking along the lines of 100 000 BTC stolen so :

-80 000 for himself because he needs that yacht, you know Tongue

-20 000 goes for the community ( people that posted in his thread for example )

This would help him in two ways :

-easier to avoid banning his coins since they will go out to everybody now
-spread the wealth around so BTC will rise in value and become less of a 1% coin

Also, don't forget to change his nick to "robinhoodat40" too !

Biggest digital Robin Hood ? You bet !

Think of the 20K as a stimulus package to get more trades and rise BTC value for all of us + him ...
2  Other / Meta / Unjust scammer tag on: April 28, 2012, 01:36:17 PM
Here I am with a big fat scammer tag related to this issue here :

How is this a scam :

-ad was still there until theymos removed it yesterday

-coins still in the address here

-I never told him to give me ANYTHING; he claims he sent me 25 BTC by mistake LOL

He made a mistake and sent me 1 million BTC and I am the scammer Huh

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Litecoin GPU mining revelations and ArtForz running away on: March 18, 2012, 11:46:25 PM
Anybody noticed that ArtForz has not logged in since 15 February ?

Once his lies were exposed and GPU mining was proven true, he decides to hide like a rat in the ground. These liars have no notion or meaning of the word "character" whatsoever.

"You only get about 9 khash/s on a GPU" was the lie he was spewing everywhere while he probably was the "bigcpuminer" guy mining LTC with GPUs while the rest of us idiots were CPU only mining it.

Just like he did with BTC and nobody told us. Now it is easy to get 300 khash/s on a 5870. And funnily enough the ScamCoin people had to show us this.

Where is that ArtForz liar now ?

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / PSA : Final Litecoin LTC GPU miner released !!! on: March 13, 2012, 10:02:28 PM
This is the final full version that includes the source code and not the limited "demo" version. This is the real thing. People need to switch to LTC right now because it is much more profitable than BTC ( especially for Nvidia cards ).

Get it here while it is hot :

Everybody needs to switch from BTC to LTC right now because it is much more profitable.

Nobody is mining BTC anymore Wink

Please post what card you used and how you got it working and what hashrate you get. I am interested in what you get using 5870s !

Thank you very much !
5  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Nvidia Kepler : killer or average mining card ? on: February 15, 2012, 10:53:10 AM
With news like these ( ) I really am getting excited.

Also relevant :,14691.html

"2304 CUDA cores/Stream Processors" for the GTX580 successor !?!?

ArtForz, do you think they can beat the 7970 / 5870 without "bitalign" and "BFI_INT" ? No hotclocks anymore too !

Can Nvidia include these instructions in their architecture / SDK now that they seem to be using TONS of shaders just like ATI ?

Is the mining game up for ATI ?

Will Nvidia Kepler cause price drop in 7970s ?

Speculate at will over hardware ... I want to hear your opinions Wink
6  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / What temperatures do you keep your GPUs at ? on: February 06, 2012, 10:56:25 AM
I am referring to longevity.

Is it OK if they are at about 70 degrees Celsius 24/7 or should I increase the fan speed to keep them at 60 degrees or lower ( fan is less expensive if it dies compared to GPU core electromigrating ).

At what temperatures would you consider running your cards 24/7 as a dedicated miner ?

What temperature is needed to avoid electromigration ?

Thank you !

7  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / How much power can you pull through the molex connector ? on: February 05, 2012, 02:33:17 PM
The reason I am asking is this :

8 pin = 150W
6 pin = 75W
PCIe slot = 75W
Molex = Huh
24pin ATX mobo connector = 150W for 12V power to the PCIe slots ?
20pin ATX mobo connector = 75W for 12V power to the PCIe slots ?

On my mobos I have these molex connectors that are there to give extra power through to the PCIe slots. How much power can I pull through this molex connector on my mobo ? Can I avoid having to use powered extenders and just use regular extenders now that I have this connector on my mobo ?

Example of molex on mobo for additional PCIe slot power :

Is the molex on the mobo better than the 6pin connector on the mobo ? Can I pull more through that molex than through the 6pin on the mobo ?

Example of 6pin on mobo for additional PCIe slot power :

There are also some motherboards that supply and additional SATA-like connector for providing more power to the PCIe slots. How does this compare to the molex and 6pin connectors ? Basically which type of connector allows me to push more power through : the molex, the 6pin or the SATA one ?

Example of SATA-power on mobo for additional PCIe slot power :

Thanks !
8  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Mining equipment in the UK currently on: January 11, 2012, 05:22:18 PM
Here is how I see it :

-no other 5870s on sale on eBay or Google under 200 GBP and even above that I could not find only at 300 GBP maybe

-79xx series will be crap for mining right now and at prices of 420 GBP for 700 mhash/s ( ratio is 1.67 )

-BFL Labs may be a scam and even if they are for real then it has 0 resale value and no other uses like gaming or encryption breaking so very risky etc.

-5970s are going on eBay for about 400 GBP and get a maximum of 840 mhash/s so that ratio is 2.1 which is crap as well

Any more suggestions ? What are you going to mine on in the future ? 5xxx cards ?

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Alternate cryptocurrencies forum section improvement suggestions on: November 06, 2011, 07:46:52 PM
How about a thread on how we can improve this controversial section of our forum ?

First thing I suggest we do :

Create a separate section for all the LTC pools so one can pick and choose much more easily.
Create a section for TBX, LTC, NMC, SLC, GG, RUC etc. rather than have them all in one section.

Any one agree ?

13  Bitcoin / Mining / Solo mining questions and clarifications on: October 05, 2011, 06:48:20 PM
Just a question about solo mining. How does the network "record" that you are mining when doing it solo.

For example, if on average it takes 12 hours to make a block do I have to leave the computer on 12 hours without interruption and then get my block OR can I leave for 6 hours then turn off computer for 1 minute then run for 6 hours again and at end I get my block as network "remembers" I have been doing the proof of work even before computer was turned off then started again etc. !?

With a pool, they can see the shares submitted etc. but how does that work while soloing !? Who / what keeps record how many "shares" each solo miner did or how many hashes he has done etc. to get the block !?

Also, say there are two miners that have same power and soloing. Is there like a queue which miner gets the blocks etc. !? Or for example the miner with the most solo power gets this block then the next less powerful miner gets this block etc. !?

Thanks !
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / List of all alternate currencies based on GPU and CPU mining algorithms ? on: October 02, 2011, 06:12:52 PM
Can we please have something like this on a sticky so people can refer to it and somebody has to update it etc. !?

For example have a list of CPU mining coins : Fairbrix ( not operational ATM ), Tenebrix, Solidcoin 2 ( not operational ATM ).

For example have a list of GPU mining coins : Bitcoin, I0coin, ixcoin, geist geld, namecoin, solidcoin1 etc. etc.

Anybody agree ? I think it would help newbies and us regulars too etc.
