1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Problem with mining is that its too easy on: July 10, 2019, 05:43:07 PM
Just like internet work that is flooded with people across the world it has become a race to the bottom.  People in first world countries are competing with people that are happy to make a few crumbs.  It is too easy to set up some rigs and start mining.
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Dan Bilzerian genius poker player or compulsive liar? on: March 01, 2019, 04:21:48 PM
This guy is known as the king of instagram and claims to have won hundreds of millions playing poker.  Claims to have won pots over $10million and other outrageous things.  Do you believe anything he says or do you think he is just a rich trust fund kid that got his money from dad?
3  Other / Serious discussion / Lack of spending on longevity research on: February 26, 2019, 05:40:04 PM
Many wealthy people are just sitting on their wealth like dragons guarding gold.  In the end we all will turn to dust.  The #1 thing people can be investing in is longevity.  People like Steve Jobs had a chance to invest in his own life but did not.   I think most billionaires don't want to throw their money away, which is how they see it when the odds of the investment working out is really low.
4  Other / Politics & Society / Shouldn't the goal be no work on: February 26, 2019, 05:30:48 PM
Productivity continues to increase and we will see even greater improvements as technology gets even better.  Shouldn't the end goal be for humans to work less?  The monetary system truly doesn't matter, what matters is the amount of resources we have.  An economic crash doesn't just magically take away the natural resources we have.  If one person could press a button and produce all the things we make now that should be the goal.
5  Other / Ivory Tower / Richest Man Jeff Bezos Divorce on: January 14, 2019, 04:07:55 PM
The Richest man known to the Public is getting a divorce from his wife of 26 years.  The Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos is worth over $100 billion.  This whole thing is probably just a ruse so they can sell off stock without causing a panic.

Quoted from Reddit:

"Reminds me of the enron exec:
Lou Pai divorced his wife for a stripper so the court forced him to sell his Enron shares. no market changes since nobody suspected anything was wrong other than the dude messed up his marriage. he couldn't be prosecuted for insider trading because the court forced the sale of his shares. If you wanted to liquidate a good portion of your assets without affecting the market, this is a good way to do it. We are talking about a master strategist here, married to a high IQ woman. This would not be outside of his character.
however, assets for cash doesn’t affect net worth at all. It’s impossible to consume that much money. No amount of fancy dinners or private jet fuel or deep-sea expeditions or cocaine is going to blow through a sum like that.
there have been interviews with bezos in the past few years where he talks about how he sees what he’s doing with blue origin being much more important than amazon, so if his wife feels the same way about blue origin then it could be a way to get it the funding it needs.
Even if the stocks weren’t liquidated. It would mean that Bezos and his ex-wife would be the two most powerful voting members on Amazon’s board. Which is one more vote that didn’t exist previously."
6  Other / Meta / High ranks that don't use avatars on: September 10, 2018, 01:53:13 PM
Question to full member and up that don't use avatars. Why not use an avatar to make yourself more recognizable?

I have a tendency to not even pay attention to what user makes a post unless they have a recognizable avatar.  Sometimes my mind will just lump people together that have the same bounty avatar.

Example:

Vod= Peter Griffin
Jet Cash = Cat in Hat
The Pharmacist = Black Star
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Wallet Collision on: June 27, 2018, 01:02:46 PM
Wallet Collision

Bitcoin wallet collision happens when two different people  randomly generate the same Bitcoin address. They would both be able to access to the funds on that address. Is this even possible? YES

The chances of this actually happen though are astronomically small.  When you create a bitcoin address you are also creating a private key.  The address is basically the chest and the private key opens the chest and letsyou access the funds.

Ok so you can create bitcoin addresses at will so there is no limit at all.  You can be creating thousands of addresses per day if you wanted to.  Well then it may be possible to have the same address? Possible? yes  Will it happen?not likely....

Bitcoin addresses are 160 bit hashes of the 256 bit private keys, so that means there are 2^160 or  1,460,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 possible addresses.

Even if 9 billion people created 10 million addresses the chance of collision would be around:
0.00000000000000000000000000000000615%

9  Other / Ivory Tower / The buttcoin reddit on: June 25, 2018, 02:27:32 AM
Ok this topic is a bit odd but I came across this subreddit called "buttcoin"  I've never seen  such a pessimistic view on bitcoin and cryptocurrency  like this. I don't know what their deal is but these people want bitcoin to fail BADLY  I think most of this stems from jealousy.  They are angry that they didn't invest before so now they want to see it fail.

Has anyone else been on this subreddit before and what are your thoughts?

10  Other / Ivory Tower / The world we live in....... on: June 18, 2018, 05:42:02 PM
A world where the top 3 publicly known richest people have more wealth then the ENTIRE bottom half of the world's population.

In America there are more than enough homes to provide shelter for every person yet there are many that are still homeless.  I was in Los Angeles last week and parts of that place look like a 3rd world country with all the tent communities.

People are so brainwashed they treat Elon Musk like a god yet he is part of the problem.  He is just another Capitalistic overload like Bezos.

Capitalism is destroying our lives.  Suicide rates and depression are higher than ever before.

A truly advanced civilization would be so far removed from our current system.  We are able to produce more than enough for everyone but we do a absolutely terrible job of allocating resources.

No one is self made.  Every single rich person gets rich off the work of others, the structure of society, or just people in general.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / GPU mining coming to an end? on: June 13, 2018, 07:37:58 PM
It was a fun ride while it lasted but it looks like the glorious days of GPU mining will be coming to an end.  With asics flooding every market,  forks that are nothing but a publicity stunt, little guys trying to compete with huge farms with dirt cheap electricity.  Many projects moving to proof of stake and masternodes instead of the proof of work.

12  Other / Off-topic / If you want to live longer on: June 13, 2018, 07:30:55 PM
If you really want to live a longer life eat every other day.  There is no reason to eat food everyday.  Our bodies are not designed to eat massive amounts everyday, thats why we have a huge problem with diabetes.  We store fat for a reason.  We are meant to go long periods of time without food.

Every animal on earth will have their lifespan increased significantly by calorie restriction.

To put it simply eating = aging.
13  Economy / Scam Accusations / Yobit SCAM on: May 25, 2018, 08:16:58 PM
Yobit is the worst exchange ever, DO NOT USE IT.  Now they will not even let me withdraw!!!  This exchange has had countless problems and accusations thrown at it.  I've read through the past posts on this sub forum and yobit has been named countless times.  Do not use this scam exchange.  An exchange with Dice on it is fishy as hell.

18  Other / Meta / Any Merit advice? on: May 19, 2018, 03:50:04 PM
I've read some posts about merit and such but I'd rather ask the high ranked members directly.  What criteria do you look for awarding merit and what forum sections do you usually hang out in?  Are you looking for just long drawn out rambling posts which I see very often or funny responses.

I gotten really de-motivated after going months without much merit but a lot of posts.  I mostly just see people selling merit, giving out ridiculous amounts of merit  like 50+ for one line posts.
