1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Different Ways to Record History and the Historia Alternative on: May 10, 2019, 06:39:20 AM
The first time humans began to record history isn’t exactly known but throughout the years, societies around the world have preserved knowledge about the past.

In ancient times, historians relied mainly on people’s memories for the stories of the past, as there were no written records. In those days, ancient storytellers developed powerful ways of remembering things, particularly special events.

Fast forward to the modern day, we expect history to be recorded based not on the memory of the historian but on written factual evidence.

Traditional ways of “doing history”

Traditionally, histories were transmitted orally through performance and were told from one generation to the next as a story. Performers were encouraged to manipulate their medium for the most pleasing results while preserving the basic story.  In addition, aides such as music were used to help historians recall and organize an extensive amount of information in the best possible way.

Important individuals such as kings were immortalized in sculptural traditions and preserved over time. These were often central to the political workings of the kingdom. Even traditional art depicted past events and ceremonies, and provided unparalleled visual records of the lives of people prior to written history.

One major limitation with oral history is that it often includes parallel versions of the same story which makes it difficult to find the single original one.

Written history

History based on written records first appeared in Egypt and Sumer a little more than 5000 years ago. For example, the ancient Sumerian people used weeds cut at an angle to make wedge-shaped marks on clay, which was then baked hard. That way, they would record details about the number of cattle, sheep, and wheat. Although many of them could not read and write, those records started to become the basis for further historical accounts.

As societies became more interconnected, people began to compare different accounts of the past and question them. Where there were competing versions of the past, people wanted to know which version is truest. As a result, historians began to give evidence for their accounts of the past in order to be taken seriously. Today, history based on written evidence remains the primary form of preserving records of historical facts and events for future generations. More specifically, modern written history seeks to reconstruct past events objectively and accurately.

But written records have limitations. First of all, history based on written documents only tells us about the lives of the rich and powerful—largely because such history only reach back a few thousand years ago when most of the other people could not read or write, so they weren’t well represented in the documents. Furthermore, written records like books cannot be retrieved once destroyed while publicly available repositories like Wikipedia can easily be edited or deleted. This makes it highly difficult to ascertain the reliability of the information contained in these platforms.

The Historia Alternative

Historia aims to make History deep, rich and accurate. Historia is a blockchain-based database focused on recording the original account of history to ensure that knowledge of the past is preserved for years to come. Thanks to blockchain technology, current and future events facts can be validated as accurate accounts and recorded in an immutable database to deter alteration and deletion.

Unlike written records that cannot be recovered once destroyed or lost, Historia blockchain preserves historical facts and events in their original form for several years to come. With blockchain, it is impossible for this information to be altered, deleted or censored by a bad actor or government entity.

More importantly, Historia empowers everyone to become the historian—to actively record and preserve historical events as they happen and ensure that no parallel versions emerge in the future.

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How the wisdom of the masses can ensure the authenticity of information on: May 04, 2019, 03:21:33 AM
Many have questioned the wisdom of the so-called “wisdom of the masses” but there is so much truth underpinning the idea that masses make more accurate collective judgments than expert individuals.

The essence of the wisdom of the crowd is that the average judgment converges on the right solution. That as long as people’s decisions are independent of one another, collective decision-making is much better than that provided by individual experts. For example, by averaging together the individual guesses of a large group about the weight of an ox, the answer was found to be amazingly accurate than the guesses of cattle experts.

The notion that a group’s judgment can be surprisingly good was popularized by James Surowiecki in his 2005 book The Wisdom of Crowds. Surowiecki explained that wise crowds have three key characteristics.  First off, the crowd should be able to have diverse opinions. Secondly, an individual’s opinion should remain independent and free from influence by anyone around them. Third, each individual within the crowd should be able to base their opinion on individual knowledge. Lastly, the crowd should aggregate their individual opinions into one collective decision.

Using these inherent characteristics of the wisdom of masses,  Historia leverages the power of the crowd to record and authenticate information in the blockchain. Under the right circumstances, crowds are smarter and make better decisions. Indeed collective wisdom is near-impossible to beat and the collective judgment of a large group can compensate for the bias of a small group.  Historia, therefore, enables accurate recording of current events and future history giving everyone to take part in history gatekeeping.

Similar to the way Google allows Web page producers to vote on which pages are most worthwhile to be put at the top of search results by linking to them, Historia incentivizes users to submit and vote on content that is as accurate as possible. The principle is fundamentally democratic—every vote counts and each user has equal voting power.

When a user submits current events to the blockchain, all other users will have a chance to vote this record up or down. If the majority of users come to a consensus after researching the proposed record and determining that it is accurate, then the record will receive funding and be permanently added to the Historia blockchain.  The record will, therefore, become immutable and can neither be altered, edited, or deleted. Not only does this enhance the authenticity of historical records, but it also ensures that information is recorded in an uneditable manner to help prevent future censorship and bias.

Our goal is that by allowing the masses to record consensus-based contemporary historical records as it occurs, future technical historians can produce a more accurate record of history. The world can, therefore, have an accurate account of history that is based on consensus, rather than one restricted by the political will of a specific country, or media bias.

Right now you can get involved with Historia in two ways: become a miner of Historia coins or purchase HTA coins to start running your own Historia masternodes and own a piece of this revolutionary project.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why people should take part in recording history on: April 26, 2019, 05:27:59 AM
The responsibility of recording historical information is often consigned to historians and trusted individuals whose superior knowledge and experience enable them to remember and interpret huge collections of facts for the benefit of society.

A significant problem with relying on historians for recording knowledge about our past is their tendency to interpret things based on their cultural norms and personal insights, often revealing their own bias and conclusions. Some of the factors that cloud historians thinking about past events include generalization, myths and mythology, conspiracy theories, Eurocentrism, and nationalism. Because of these reasons, we have a current history that is riddled with holes and inaccuracies. This creates a considerable gulf between truthful, coherent history and what is known as ‘popular history’ allowing some people to twist history the way they want it to meet their own needs. Popular history is often simplified, distorted and filled with obvious villains or fulfilling resolutions. Real history, on the hand, is more rigorous and coherently written based on evidence that seeks to examine historical sources, though the shape it should take is flexible and open to debate.

How history is recorded has a significant influence on our understanding of historical events, and view of the world. First off, conflicting historical narratives of events create distortions that hinder our appreciation of the distinctiveness of historical experiences. For history to be effective at teaching us valuable lessons about the past, it has to be written and recorded as accurately as possible. That way, the general public can have confidence in historians to tell an unfettered, impartial and objective truth about current and future events.

Luckily, for those who take a keen interest in documenting historical events, history is open to all, regardless of experience or credentials. This means that we can all participate in writing and recording history not only for our own benefit, but also for future generations. By harnessing the power of “wisdom of masses” we can foster accurate recording of current events and future history to ensure the authenticity of historical information.

Giving everyone the power to participate in recording history is the mission of Historia. We have built a decentralized database committed to preserving the original account of global history. It allows anyone with clear proof of an accurate historical event to upload their case to the Historia blockchain for a review that will be analyzed by a diverse, globally distributed pool of voters. Thanks to Historia, people from all over the world are able to actively record and preserve historical facts as they happen, the way they happened.

More specifically, Historia employs blockchain technology to decentralize the recording of current events from the few to the many, providing an immutable log to history and a platform to combat censorship, manipulation, and deletion. This is critical in enhancing accountability and transparency as well as collaboration among all participants.

Now everyone can take an active stance in writing and preserving history, without restriction or fear of persecution.

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How Historia can help keep politicians accountable on: April 19, 2019, 06:47:42 AM
Holding politicians accountable hasn’t always been easy in the past and many citizens have faced a myriad of challenges trying to exert political oversight. The reality is that citizens need substantial information about the government to hold officials accountable.

Put simply, political accountability requires politicians to account for election promises as well as actions made when designing and implementing laws and regulations. Unfortunately, this is often difficult to achieve—largely because citizens are not informed well enough—and there is very little voters can do outside of not re-electing the politician in the next election.

However, nascent technologies such as blockchain can empower more of us to demand accountability from politicians who break their promises. We explain how.
Blockchain is essentially a secure digital database, or ledger spread across thousands of computers all over the world and which is both tamper-proof and self-auditing. Information held on blockchain exists as a distributed and continually reconciled database, which means the data is truly transparent and easily verifiable. Tapping into these inherent benefits of blockchain distributed ledger, we can record and preserve current events and political rhetoric in an immutable and secure manner for future references. These records will, therefore, serve as a point of reference for highlighting broken promises and holding politicians accountable.

Keeping politicians accountable is a novel mission for Historia. Our hope is that by promoting civic engagement through record keeping, we can show politicians and government administrators that we are paying attention to their actions. It is important to highlight such developments in order to keep politicians accountable. Historia has built a blockchain-powered digital database for keeping accurate records about our current events and for tracking changes made to the information so that ultimately it can still be trusted as accurate and authentic.

In particular, Historia facilitates accurate documentation of current and future events using encryption, cryptography, and IPFS content storage system, preventing third-party interference or censorship. This provides citizens with a secure platform for reporting and monitoring politicians’ misconduct without fear of retribution. Through Historia blockchain, we can promote transparency and accountability by alerting the public to illegal or improper government activity as well as keeping politicians in check.

If you find something questionable, simply submit it to the Historia blockchain for a review. Your submission will be analyzed by a diverse, globally distributed pool of voters and if it is determined that it is accurate, it will be added in the blockchain for all to see. That way, we can record and share it permanently in the blockchain in order to raise awareness and demand action. Moreover, it would be impossible for government officials to restrict access to these records once they are stored in Historia blockchain.
Historia offers the most effective solution for fact-checking and evaluating political rhetoric to ensure that politicians live to their words.  Right now the project is focused on recording images and fact-based news articles as the exemplary case of the platform but it will be scaled to other applications later.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How Politics Distort Facts to Change Sense of Reality on: April 12, 2019, 03:30:06 AM
Politics is often considered a dirty game, and the most exhausting thing about our politics today is the politicians’ extensive use of “alternative facts” on key issues that directly or indirectly contradict real facts.

Politics is often considered a dirty game, and the most exhausting thing about our politics today is the politicians’ extensive use of “alternative facts” on key issues that directly or indirectly contradict real facts.

The obsession with “shaping the narrative” has seen mainstream politicians easily use refutable statements to promote their political agenda. For example, during his 2016 campaigns, Donald Trump and his campaign staff repeatedly made false claims about the U.S homicide rate being at its highest in several decades. Ahead of the Brexit referendum, the pro-Brexit campaign falsely claimed that the EU membership cost the UK over 350 million British pounds per week and that this money could be saved in the case of exit from the European Union.

Crafting stories to serve political purposes is dangerous even if it is increasingly becoming part of modern politics. The use of alternative facts is not only obscuring the truth, but it also puts our democracy in jeopardy by leaving the citizens confused and misinformed. This is not helped either by the fact that we live in an era where confirmation bias dominates the way people consume information today. Social media creates an echo chamber where individuals only hear stories that seem true to them, regardless of the source.

In an effort to combat distortion of facts, mainstream media and independent organizations have increasingly invested in checking politicians’ claims and provided rebuttals. For instance, a recent report focused on fact checking successfully identified and corrected several misleading statements made by Marine Le Pen about European refugee crisis during the 2017 French presidential election campaign.

While such fact-checking efforts are commendable, they are not effective in correcting the positive effects of the politicians’ agenda. One possible explanation is that electorates are unwilling to trust mainstream media due to unbiased reporting and declining journalistic standards. The effect of this is that if citizens are more confident in the figures provided by politicians than the media they would rationally shift their prior beliefs towards alternative facts away from the truth provided by the fact checkers. This, in turn, affects trust in official institutions, knowledge of facts, voting intentions and individual positions on key policy.

Alternative facts are simply lies and we should reject their use in politics.  Historia believes in pressing for the truth and keeping citizens well informed about current events and history. In order to achieve this goal, Historia has built a blockchain-based platform for recording and preserving accurate accounts of history and facts to prevent perversion and distortion.

Historia blockchain solution

The Historia blockchain solves the problem of alternative facts by providing a secure immutable and decentralized database for recording and validating facts and historical events in real-time. Therefore, in the case where a politician makes refutable claims using alternative facts, we can easily conduct a fact-checking and validate the truthfulness of such claims on the blockchain.

In addition, Historia ensures trust by utilizing blockchain distributed ledger as an incorruptible source of fact checking instead of mainstream media that is often biased and subject to censorship. It is our hope that by putting historical facts and events on the distributed ledger, we can make a significant contribution towards the fight against fake news, falsehoods, and distortion of facts in politics.

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / The significance of Historia as an accurate and unbiased information source on: March 25, 2019, 03:16:20 AM
We live in a world where too much censorship by government and media corporate owners is increasingly infringing on our freedom of speech and denying us the right to information. Which begs the question: Is there no place for the reader to turn to for more accurate and unbiased information?

The short answer is an emphatic yes. But with Historia blockchain platform, there’s still hope.

When it comes to news reporting, political biases play a major role in determining what news gets reported, and how it gets reported. In the U.S, for example, those controlling journalists’ pens are media corporate leaders who subscribe to liberal ideology and are often not shy to promote news stories that favor their values. The Chinese government is well known for its control and censorship over media outlets— Xinhua News Agency, the mouthpiece of the Peoples Republic of China—only report news stories about state organizations or policies that are financed by state leadership themselves.

Censorship of content is also promoted through corporate advertising. Because media relies heavily on corporate advertising, journalists are censored from writing or reporting neutral and object news stories. Any attempt to challenge or critique these corporate advertisers could result in a significant drop in the newspaper’s advertising revenue. This undermines media independence.

Even social media platforms where many people turn to for receiving news have enough power and will to censor certain content and ideologies. There is no better example of this than the Facebook censorship of hundreds of political pages for being inauthentic.

All these examples show that there is a lack of true editorial independence in mainstream media. Media can be fake, far right and not sufficiently fact-checked. In addition, people are becoming skeptical about the information they read on social networks because content can easily be compromised or censored by these organizations. Therefore, there is need to stop over-reliance on corporate media and social networks for news and important events happening around us.

Having an independent, unbiased information source that is free from censorship is critical to ensure news events are written and documented as accurately as possible and to every end of the spectrum. It is important to give the public information that is accurate and truthful and free from intrinsic bias so that citizens can think critically make better-informed decisions.

Luckily, with the inception of new technologies such as blockchain, alternative ways of documenting and sharing news stories are being created to achieve this goal.

Historia is an open source, an immutable database for recording accurate accounts of news events in an uneditable manner to prevent censorship and third-party interference. The platform is designed to serve as a refreshingly honest and impartial information source. That Historia is built using blockchain technology means that information is secured by the incredible power of distributed ledger, making it highly difficult for historical events to be altered, deleted or censored. Historia is also collectively owned by the community which makes it impossible for the government to restrict access or for corporate executives to influence what information gets added to the blockchain.

Our hope is that Historia will become an independent and immutable information source that not only guarantees the truthfulness of reported facts, figures and stories, but also holds politicians accountable for their misdeeds, lies, and obfuscations.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How Historia can be used to prevent censorship on: March 21, 2019, 02:53:17 AM
Historia uses blockchain technology to help protect users from third-party interference

Here’s a serious question to ponder: Do private, centralized organizations and government authorities have the right to act as gatekeepers and censor the content we access and share online?

Internet companies like Facebook and Google are well aware of the content you share online, and can refuse to handle some of it. Not only is this an infringement on privacy, but it places private companies in a position of power. Tech companies monitor and control our online activities and can restrict controversial views and opinions.

Inevitably, these private companies are under increasing pressure from European regulators to filter and control free speech. This filtering effort runs the risk of censorship, in which users have access to less content and a wide ray of free speech may end up being removed from online platforms based on their terms and conditions.

For example, China exerts a strict internet censorship regime known as the Great Firewall which includes among other things, blocking social network sites like Reddit, Twitter, and Facebook.  By censoring the operation of centralized encrypted messaging services like WhatsApp and Messenger in China, access to these services is restricted to Chinese citizens.

Additionally, the Chinese authorities have in the past blocked information related to the crackdown against protesters in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square on the anniversary of the event. Such stricter content restrictions have caused concerns that internet censorship restricts the open exchange of ideas and silences the sort of healthy criticism that allows true freedom and accountability.

Historia has the power to stop censorship and allow citizens to not only enjoy the economic benefits of the Internet but also, the benefits of freedom of expression and right to information.

Historia began last year as a decentralized database which prioritizes recording of past and current events in an immutable manner to help prevent information censorship. Historia facilitates accurate documentation of historical events using encryption, cryptography, and IPFS content storage system, preventing third-party interference. Interplanetary File Storage (IPFS) is a peer-to-peer content storage system for guaranteeing that content hosted on Historia blockchain is immutable and highly secure to combat censorship. Moreover, it would be impossible for governments to restrict access to records held on Historia because of its decentralized nature.

Even the Historia team has no “backdoor access” to alter what’s being uploaded. The network is distributed between users and no centralized version of these records exists for government authorities to turn off, obscure or delete. Users submit accurate accounts of events and vote to add these records in the blockchain. Once the record is uploaded to the blockchain, it becomes immutable and can neither be altered, edited, or deleted. This is essential to prevent changes to the records, even under distress from bad actors or threat of imprisonment.

By stopping censorship, we can hold the government and centralized organizations accountable before the public and ensure there is no hindrance to civilization advancement due to censorship.

Help us combat information censorship. Join Historia blockchain today.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How to mine HTA (Historia System) on: February 18, 2019, 08:53:40 AM
Before we start explaining the mining intricacies you have to know that Historia uses X16R Proof of Work algorithm which is currently ASIC resistant. The X16R algorithm makes it difficult to mine using ASICs by constantly disrupting the ordering of the hashing algorithms. We aim to totally negate the use of ASIC hardware and redirect mining power back into the hands of GPUs.

Since the above is cleared up,  it is time to explain how to mine Historia. There are two ways to mine Historia; by yourself or through Historia mining pool.

Pool mining
Pool mining is a collection of miners working together. Miners combine their individual computational resources with those of the other members which enhances their joint processing power and helps to achieve the desired output faster than, say solo mining.  However, when you mine as part of a mining pool, you’ll need to pay a small fee. The offset of that is, using a pool allows you to earn more rewards and get paid much quicker. This can provide you with consistent payouts, multiple times per day.

Pros
- It’s cheaper than setting up your own mining operation at home
- You get a steady supply of Historia coins
- No technical knowledge is required to start mining

Cons
- You have to pay transaction fees on rewards
- Mining pools are subject to DDOS attacks and downtimes so there’s a risk of losing your rewards
- It is difficult to figure out if the structure of the pool reward system is a good value for money as most mining pools don’t reveal how they work

How to  mine Historia coin via Pool
Depending on the miner you are using, you should download the file and then unzip the miner.

Github direct download links:
Avermore v1.2:
https://github.com/brian112358/avermore-miner/releases
Nevermore 0.2.2:
https://github.com/brian112358/nevermore-miner/releases
Suprminer 1.6:
https://github.com/ocminer/suprminer/releases

With the miner program unzipped you should see a batch file.  If not then create one using the following steps:
1. Upon extracting the miner, within the folder create a new text file.
2. Now change .txt extension to .bat

Next right click .bat file and click edit. Once done add the following code into your batch file:

NVIDIA Enemy Miner config:

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Keeping History Accurate For Future Generations on: February 01, 2019, 04:13:28 AM
There is no one truth in History. There are simply too many gaps throughout the history of civilization. Opposing sides of war write or rewrite history. Leaving the past open for manipulation and misinformation for those in need. The allowance for any one person, group of people, or government to manipulate, obscured, or delete historical accounts facilitates ignorance and hinders the advancement of civilization.

Fast forward to the present day and everyone knows that governments and companies with monopolies over media outlets manipulate, suppress and censorship the information to meet their intended goals not only historical events, but also the happenings of today.

Until recently it was merely a dream to have an accurate source of information without manipulation from the governments, individuals, or corporations. It was too difficult or outright impossible for individual or corporation to stay safe from persecutions or attacks on their personal integrity.

Luckily we do not live in this old world any longer. Not only are people around the world more and more concerned about the manipulation through news outlets but are also looking for alternative trustworthy sources for the information.

It is technology that makes the difference:

Newspaper, radios, and TV are not the only source of information. With the rise of the internet users now are able to not only access any kind of information but also directly upload the happenings across the world. Without restriction, censorship or persecution.

Internet coverage is everywhere. The Internet can be accessed from anywhere.

Data is forever. With the rise of the internet, it became almost impossible to delete the data that has been uploaded. Almost. However, with the recent development of blockchain technology, it became impossible to delete or alter the information that is uploaded.  In particular blockchain technology allows keeping information that cannot be altered. It is much safer than books or any paper document that can be altered at any moment.

That is why we brought experts from around the world to combine their knowledge and build a system that would allow keeping historic data accurate and more importantly impossible to delete or alter it.

So we built Historia:  A decentralized database committed to preserving the original account of global history. It allows anyone with clear proof of an accurate historical event to upload their case to the Historia for a review that will be analyzed by a diverse, globally distributed pool of voters.

Lastly, since much of the historical record of the world is debatable, the Historia team has chosen to focus on the additions of recent events, current events, or future history to our blockchain, and not try to rewrite the historical record again.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / 2018 Historia Year in Review on: January 29, 2019, 06:04:40 AM
The Historia Team has been asked to share more technical details of where we are going, as well as answer a few questions concerning what type of content should be submitted. In this post we will discuss and outline future research, community questions, and a few fun ideas that are “far out” there to say the least. This is our vision.

Technical

The following is a list of on-going research ordered by descending priority for 2019. It should be noted that the Historia Team is in the research phase and make no promises that all of the below functionality will make it into the final product. As always, the Historia Team looks forward to hearing community feedback.

  • Web GUI – The web interface will be the main interface to access the records. Interfacing the web application with IPFS and the Historia blockchain is our highest priority at this point. We are designing the web application to be responsive, cross-platform, and have an intuitive design.

  • Historia Wallet – In our efforts to make the Historia system as user-friendly as possible, we will be adding a “basic” mode to the wallet that will be enabled by default. The basic mode will be a stripped-down version of what the user sees today. This will also include a new tab that shows approved records in the wallet itself and the ability to search the records for a specific content.. Advanced users will be able to change to the normal wallet view.

  • Masternodes – Masternodes will see some significant changes. We have listed these changes below:
a. Split Masternode System – Allowing for masternodes to run with different amounts of collateral. Why is this needed? The Historia team has always wanted the most amount of masternodes as possible to run. We can’t allow this project, or the records approved to become a tyranny of the few. We also see that there is a need for different types of masternodes to run. In the future we expect to see different levels of masternodes which will require different amounts of collateral and serve different functions for the network.

b. Collateral – Currently the collateral is 100 HTA to run a masternode. Many have questioned the logic of this decision. Because of the previously mentioned Spilt Masternode Sytem we can have masternodes running with 100 HTA collateral, as well as masternodes with 1000 or 10000 HTA required for collateral. Currently, we do not have a specific number of coins that will be required for collateral, but it will be at least 1000 HTA for the next level of masternodes. Buy them now while they are still cheap!

c. IPFS – Currently IPFS is required to run a masternode, but if IPFS is not running, the masternode is not penalized. This will change as we further integrate IPFS into the Historia network. In the future if IPFS is not running 99% of the time, your masternode will not be paid. We will release some further instructions on how to keep IPFS running 100% of the time.

        1. It should also be noted that the Historia team will be removing the requirements for the 100 HTA collateralized masternode to run IPFS and only those with higher collateral will be required to run IPFS with the masternode system.

        2. Finally, the higher level collateralized masternodes will be required to run IPFS 99% of the time, support both IPv4 and IPv6, and run the IPFS web UI over HTTPS. This will allow for record access in a decentralized manner, without a reader of the records having to download the wallet.

  • Rewards – Currently masternode rewards are set 5% of the total block reward. The plan previously was to increase this when there was enough demand. Now that we are attempting to add a split masternode system, the plan will be changing.

a. The 100 HTA collateralized masternodes rewards increases will be at a lower priority that the higher level collateralized nodes. We are now considering these mostly as “voting” nodes, and not content distribution nodes.

b. The higher level collateralized masternodes reward increases will be at a higher level priority where there will be an increase in rewards to meet the demand. These will be content distribution nodes, and it is important to have as many as these as possible.

  • Proposal / Record Fees – Currently when a proposal or record is submitted it requires 5 and 10 HTA coins respectively. These coins are burnt and no longer exist as usable coins. While for certain masternode type of coins, this is acceptable, Historia would rather give these coins to the masternode owners to help support the costs associated with running the nodes. Research is ongoing into the best method to distribute these.

  • InstantSend – The Historia wallet has the InstantSend feature, which uses a quorum of masternodes that lock the transaction. The benefits of this is a transaction is fully confirmed in an instant, as well as preventing the transaction from being affected by any potential 51% attacks. There are a few changes that we are looking into that will further help support the masternode network.

a. Enforce InstantSend over a certain amount of coins being moved. This helps to prevent against 51% attacks

b. Raise the InstantSend fees per transaction, to further help support the masternode owners.

  • Coin Supply – Because of the fact that history is constantly being made around us, the Historia team had to take that into account when setting the coin supply. Originally this requirement forced us to have an unlimited supply, but a low inflation, which is, of course, isn’t good for the economics of the system. The Historia team now has a method to continue to support the masternode owners via transaction fees and redirection of burnt coins. We hope to lower the total amount of coins to a more reasonable level of approximately 15-20 million range, to be mined out in approximately 150 years. Of course, there is much work to do here, but we can now see a path forward.

  • Collateralized Voting without a Masternode - The Historia Team has always believed in the idea of the wisdom of the masses. We are currently researching the ability to vote without running a masternode. Using IPFS, we will be able to store collateralized registered wallet addresses for voting. This is not a simple project and will require much work to make this behave correctly. Also this will open up Historia to non-technical individuals that still would like to participate with the voting aspects of the platform. The details are described below:

a. A user must have a certain number of coins for collateral. This will probably be around the cost of a low level masternode.
b. A user must register his coins to a specific wallet address. Once this specific wallet is registered and the collateral has been sent, this wallet will always having voting rights. No refunds.
c. The collateral will not be burnt, however redirected and redistributed to the masternodes.

Community Questions
A few questions have been brought up from our community that should be addressed.

What kind of events could be called “historic events”? – Ultimately, it’s the network owners that choose. It should be mentioned that the Historia team does NOT control what will get approved as a record that will be permanently and immutably stored. We can only suggest what we would like to see. For our use case, we believe it best to have current events, as there will be more evidence to prove it as fact.

Do older events that happen qualify or only current events? – If there is enough evidence to support something that happened 50 years ago, and the network owners want this to be permanently included in the record, then it will be added to the permanent record.

Can the Historia team or community, add existing historical events from existing sources? – Yes definitely, however as with all records there has to be the appropriate evidence. Taking this topic further, in the web GUI the Historia team can see archive tools being implemented that will make it easy to import information from other sources.

If there are further questions that the community would like to see addressed in a blog post, please reach out to us on discord, or email them directly to info@historia.network.

“Far Out” Ideas
The Historia Team wanted to share the very long-term vision with the community. It should be noted that we are attempting to build this project as a multi-generational project. Our success or failure will not be judged within our lifetime. As such, we need to come up with ideas now to help secure the historical record in the future. Of course, most of these scenarios require Historia to be successful from a monetary perspective.

As the coin gains popularity, it is the intent of the Historia team to secure the hardware that stores the growing Historia blockchain by employing duplicate copies in multiple secure locations. In a catastrophic event, the destruction of 99% of masternodes will not mean any loss of Historia content. This would ultimately require storage in the least accessible locations. These include the following ideas:

  • Masternode Network - The Historia team will encourage masternode owners from around the world to create nodes in remote, hidden, and inaccessible locations.

  • In Stone or Clay Tablets - There are certain areas of the Earth that have been geologically stable areas over millions of years. The masternode owners could choose to approve certain approved record proposals in stone or in clay tablets. Storage of those records could be at those geologically stable regions.

  • Secure Data Centers - The Historia team will attempt to purchase and retrofit Cold War communication bunkers, missile silos, and nuclear bunkers around the world to host and store masternode data.

  • Cube Satellites - With the price of satellite launches coming down and will continue to in the coming years, the Historia team would like to launch multiple full satellite masternodes to beam down the Historia blockchain across the entire world. This includes areas that are censorship-heavy.

  • Lunar Surface Data Centers - Equinix released a blog entry in 2013 suggesting by 2015 they would have a Lunar Data Center. While this was a April’s Fools joke, the Historia team does see such scenarios coming in the near future. In the future the Historia team should rent server space on the moon to further decentralize the storage of the historical record off planet.  This should be considered for a long term goal.

  • Martian Surface Data Centers - This is a very very long term goal.

Community feedback is much appreciated. Feel free to discuss these ideas on our subreddit or discord.

12  Economy / Marketplace / Historia Roadmap on: January 23, 2019, 06:21:33 AM
We have carefully mapped out timeline of events designed to engage our early adopters as we continue to develop the Historia platform.

The plan lays out our accomplished milestones, including the release of Historia blockchain in August 2018. And the most recent integration of  IPFS (InterPlanetary File System) to allow us create a content-addressable, peer-to-peer method of storing and sharing hypermedia. The roadmap extends until 2019 with the development of the Historia wallet, Masternode system improvements and research into sidechain 2-way peg.

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Historia VS Wikipedia VS Everipedia on: January 16, 2019, 06:30:27 AM
History and the events that comprise it– the triumphs, the mistakes, the acts of goodwill and bad– all require accurate documentation to remain intact throughout time. These records serve as a moral and economic guideline for humanity to advance forward.

These days we have an ever-growing number of the repositories from books to a more robust entities like Wikipedia that is an open platform for anyone to record historical facts and stories.

The question then arises how does Historia differentiate from its main competitors?

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / ICO - SENTIGRAPH - A.I Disruption on Blockchain on: March 28, 2018, 08:47:46 AM
WHY SENTIGRAPH IS CRUCIAL TO BUSINESS SURVIVAL IN THE 21st CENTURY?

The world of business is not one for the faint-hearted. Competition is brutal among businesses wherever you go around the world, as even old established multi-nationals can fall from the top of the pyramid, as many examples already within this century have shown us. Nokia and Blackberry at one point were the leading makers of mobile phones, but in 2018, both giants have long foundered and are well beyond their past glory days. To cut the story short, no business however big can take its market share or position in the industry for granted.

The world moves so fast, and opinions with them so much so that any business owner that does not listen to the winds of change and move accordingly with them is bound to become obsolete and their products irrelevant. Having the right kind of data and using it effectively is a crucial tool for businesses to stay ahead of the game. And for very long, the seamless access to key industry-shaping data has been well beyond the reach of most businesses, well, until the birth of the blockchain technology and the Sentigraph platform with it.

So how will Sentigraph become a key factor n the success of big and small businesses this century? The following are some of the very unique reasons why this platform and its services are absolutely crucial for any business that hopes to not only survive but thrive in an ever-competitive business world.

Detecting Trends: One of the unique thing about the Sentigraph platform is that it does not only help businesses take not of present trends in their respective markets and areas of interest, it also empowers them with the surgical tools to pinpoint the likeliest trends that will take form in the times ahead. Making a move before everyone smells the coffee has been the key tool that make the fortunes of businesses, and with the AI empowered, blockchain based Sentigraph platform, now businesses have the very tools in their hands to checkmate their competitors before they even make their first moves.

Dictating Trends: Well if you can detect what is about to happen, why not set the actual tone of what it might turn out to be? Sentigraph is a platform that takes the saying that “Information is Power” and with its cutting-edge, mood detecting service, its platform will refine raw data that is of little use to create clear-cut charts on what the public thinks on any issue. A business can in turn use this public mood swing to create its own tailor-made offerings that can push it further towards its desired goals. Sentigraph allows you as a business owner not only detect what is likely to happen concerning your industry, but also give you the opportunity to take part in actually shaping it.

Deal with PR Nightmares: The world is connected 24/7 and news can travel in a flash. For businesses this is a double-edged sword that benefits or spells their doom. During the good days, the fast permeation of positive information plays a vital role in solidifying the reputation of a business and enhance its market position to the point that its stoke prices move upwards. But during the ad times, (and every business has those), the effect of negative news can be devastating to any business. Just recently we saw the effect of the spread of news as Snapchat lost a value to the tune of $1 billion within a day on a Rihanna tweet, while Facebook continues to hemorrhage from its continued data breach scandal.

Businesses need an effective PR management tool that will allow them say the right thing and make the right moves whenever a PR disaster is afoot. Sentigraph goes deep and scoops at what the public is truly thinking and offers them to you as a business owner. Surely that will come in handy during the bad times that could easily break the resolve of one’s business

17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Only Bitcoin or diversify? on: March 12, 2018, 11:41:08 AM
This one i guess is quite simple to the most of you. Recently i am kinda feeling that the smart thing to do would be stop growing my portofolio and start to look bitcoin as the only crypto investment for me. Just want to now your opinions on this because besides forums i cant really discuss this matter, let me know.
