1  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Upgrading rig from 3 to 5 GPU cant get 5th card running... on: June 14, 2013, 03:15:51 AM
So im running cgminer in win 7 with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128521   It was running 3 7970's just fine and then I added 2 7950's and now I can't get the 5th card to run or be detected in cgminer. I see it in the device manager and tried uninstalling reinstalling but still says a error with code 43. Tried everythign I can think of but no go drawing blanks now. Got 2 psu's with plenthyy of power for everything just not sure what to look at now...   Huh
2  Bitcoin / Mining support / Need help with 7970 cgminer settings pleas! on: June 02, 2013, 06:30:31 PM
I only have 0.1 BTC but your glad to have it if you help me find some cgminer settings that work better then what I have. I can get 600mhash safely ar 1100mhz but if i push it anymore I seem to freeze up after a few mins. Im using windows 7 with 3x 7970's. Temps are pretty good. Really want to get past the 600 mark : /

4  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / miner problem or new rig hard ware problem? on: June 01, 2013, 10:28:03 PM
I posted this in the hardware section but starting to think ti could be a miner config problem. Any help would be nice!

5  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / New rig problems on: June 01, 2013, 04:28:53 PM
Ok so Ive been playing with mkining BTC for a little over a month and used to love building OC'd gaming rigs and decided to build a multi gpu mining rig. A few days ago i swapped from guiminer to cgminer so im a newb at it! Yesterday some parts I ordered came in and I got to work making a open air case and making sure the basics work. I have a 7970 mining at 680 mhash at 1160 clock right now. This new rig will have 2 more of the same exact gigabyte card. Well to make sure I didnt need to return anything I put the pc together with 1 card to install drivers etc and see if it works. Installed windows 7, cg miner and catalyst 12.1. Same setup as my other card. HERE IS THE PROBLEM

These speeds are too slow! Now i know you can change a config file or something in cg miner but that is way beyond my know how as im new to cgminer.  Also seems liek the activity should be higher then that. Am i missing something or is there something I should check at this point? IM gonna swap with the other card and see if there is any difference in a few mins.
6  Bitcoin / Hardware / FPGA - profitability vs effeciency? on: May 29, 2013, 08:25:32 PM
I have mixed feelings about FPGAs. Ifd like one to play with but as far as $$ goes it doesn't seem practical to pay 800-1000$ for 800 mhash. I understand they are pretty effecient but with the upcoming asic boom ddoesn't seem loike they would even pay for them selves anytime soon with increases in difficulty looming. YET i see people buying them all over. Am I missing something?
7  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / When do you need to use the null plugs for gpus? on: May 25, 2013, 09:10:21 PM
Basically like the title states. What OS or setups require the plugs for multi cvard systems to work?
8  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / shoruds or no shrouds on gpus on: May 25, 2013, 02:04:27 AM
Might be stupid but if you have a few or big external fans blowing on your cards you think taking the plastic shrouds off the GPUs would allow more air flow over cooling parts?
9  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / How does this rig sound (first full time rig) on: May 24, 2013, 09:49:59 PM
Gonna build a dedicated rig to mess around with some mining. I use to love overclocking and all sorts of cooling for benchmartks etc so decided to start a mining rig.

already have a few http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835119161 for open case cooling
Have this PSU already also I will use - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817170029
and a little 80 gig WD hd ill use

Now i know computers but new to mining (been mining on a 7970 on personal pc a couple months). Thinking crossifre at around 1100mhz with guiminer on windows 7 unless there is good reason to do different.

Also i shouldn't need power risers right? and how many cards would this max out at if i decide to upgrade later?

11  Other / Beginners & Help / MtGox autheticator? on: May 23, 2013, 01:17:50 PM
Well been mining for a little over 2 months now on my 7970 and sold about 50$ worth. Had another 0.7 BTC in mt gox to play with and a little in my wallet. Well sure enough this morning noticed my MtGox account got hacked so lost my 0.7 BTC. I never added a authenticator but now thinking about it. WHich software authenticator do you use? Any suggestions would help thanks!
