Einax

Twitter: https://twitter.com/einax_exchange

KYC

3  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Bitcoin RAW TX and SegWit on: April 16, 2018, 07:46:55 PM
I am writing Python script that should be able to generate raw TX messages. I understand there are libraries to do it, but I'd like to learn this from the ground up myself. As an example I took this great tutorial:

http://www.righto.com/2014/02/bitcoins-hard-way-using-raw-bitcoin.html

and BTC Tx specifications https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Protocol_specification#tx

After some time I have finally figured that to specify INPUT in my tx i need to take DOUBLE sha256 (this does not seem clearly stated in specs, it only says "hash") of FULL PREVIOUS TX (not just output section as it say in some of the articles that I won't link here because it took me hours to figure this out after following those).

My questions are following:

Tx generation method in the above tutorial is fairly old and simple (single input, single output).

  • AFAIK SegWit tx message have slightly different structure. What should I change to make my TX with multiple outputs a SegWit TX?
  • Are SegWit Inputs any different from non-SegWit Inputs (i.e. if i have received my coins as SegWit TX will it change how my spending TX look like)
  • To sum up  the question - Is current specs here https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Protocol_specification#tx  are universal and can be applied to any and all BTC transaction?

Any links/tutorials/literature on the subject will be greatly appriciated.
Thanks.
4  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / What are the best practices for using P2SH? on: February 21, 2018, 06:02:29 AM
Hello,

I was wandering what are the best practice to secure hot wallets using P2HS addresses. As far as I understand I can use bitcoin script to add another layer of security to my hot wallet (i.e. add some sort of password or even use multisig, in order to spend incoming funds).

The question is:

Have industry developed some sort of standard to use this feature? For example I have noticed some exchanges use P2SH addresses for deposits. Are there any general ways/standards to conveniently use this feature to add additional layer of protection?

Thanks!
5  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Possible Double-Spend attack on BCash using Bitcoin Mining pool on: February 13, 2018, 09:05:08 AM
This is very interesting attack vector on currencies that utilize same POW algo. (In this case contributing fraction of Bitcoin hash power can totally screw Bitcoin Cash, allowing double spend).

6  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / [LN] What is the typical payment channel expiration time? on: January 26, 2018, 10:16:14 AM
So since channel is nothing more than time-hash-locked transaction on blockchain it should have an expiration timer, where it either canceled/replaced by latest tx or settled. I understand that this expiration time can be arbitrary but have someone came up with some reasonable number (say 10 days or 6 month)? What are the defaults that working on main net right now?

Thanks!

Update Answer:

Funding transaction HAVE NO expiration time (because it is not time-locked), however all LN transaction HAVE expiration time to ensure delay for possible debate (i.e. revocation).
7  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / What is the good place to start testing lightning on: January 24, 2018, 10:34:56 AM
Hello,

I'd like to involve myself in lightning by hosting lightning node and opening a payment channel or two. Can someone point out relevant community forums where I can start off with that?

Thanks.
8  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Percentage of blocks signalling SegWit support on: January 14, 2018, 03:49:16 PM
Looking at this graph I'm getting a little confused:
https://blockchain.info/ru/charts/bip-9-segwit
does that means miners not signaling segwit anymore? It seems I have wrong understanding of what segwit signaling is.I thought every miner support  segwit blocks and even though only ~10% of all tx are segwit all segwit transactins can end up in a valid block because all miners support them.
9  Economy / Scam Accusations / Warning - Scam attempt in progress (people claiming they represent WEX.nz) on: December 25, 2017, 05:56:53 AM
Warning - this topic https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2506968.msg26140760#msg26140760
located in service discussion is highly suspicious. It designed to look like a topic for WEX.nz discussion, however all questions regarding topic starter relations to WEX being deleted. Even though authors claimed to be someone "inside" of WEX. This topic looks like a scam attempt.

I suggest everyone to be warned and report this thread and stay away.

Also people who was active in this topic are actively trying to impersonate WEX.nz tech support in other topics and called out.

BEWARE!

10  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Could BitCoin Ageing be a solution to BlockChain bloat? on: December 22, 2017, 11:50:14 AM
Hey, I know this is probably was considered before, but why not make coins have limited age before they return to coinbase? Say if coins have not been moved for 8 years it "returns" to coinbase (i.e. become unspent) and become minable. This way coins that was unspent for certain amount of time will eventually reenter circulation, we can discontinue block reward halving practice, eliminate satoshi's stash (or force him to reveal himself) and reintroduce destroyed funds to the market. This will also limit blockchain size so we would be able to use much larger blocks, allowing much more tx/second since blockchain size will be capped. More I think of it, better it seems from scaling perspective.

I know I probably missing some significant downsides but I can't see something that can't be compensated.
11  Economy / Exchanges / Exchanges with redeemable vouchers? on: December 12, 2017, 05:49:37 PM
What exchanges/services support redeemable codes/vouchers besides WEX.nz ? IS there a dedicated voucher marketplace on bitcointalk?

Thanks!
12  Economy / Service Discussion / BlockChain Hosting Services? on: December 08, 2017, 10:01:52 AM
What are most popular services that handle block chain hosting and transaction propagation allowing me to keep private key and only signing transactions that will be then handled by that service?

Basically I'm looking for a service that host full node(s), generate transactions upon my request, so I only sign it on my device without giving away my private key.

Thanks.

15  Economy / Service Discussion / How Come NiceHash Stored Nearly 5 000 BTC? on: December 07, 2017, 08:04:56 AM
Learning about today's NiceHash hack I can't stop wondering how come they had nearly 5000 BTC for god sake? Have thousands of miners not withdrew for years? Have large players kept lots of funds to quickly grab mining power at will?
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Does Recent Parity Bug Will Affect Ethereum Developement? on: November 08, 2017, 06:48:16 AM
So Parity bug made it so 500 000+ ETH have been locked and many blocks of ETH blockchain now stacked on top of it. Millions and millions of dollars stuck. Ok, that happens, now what is the solution? Hardfork you say. But hardfork means changes will be made in existing blockchain. It's fine in current ETH blockchain, but if there was Casper that makes validators finalize every 100th block in Ether this sort of issue would be unresolvable, since hardfork will mean at least 1/3 of validators (lkely all of them) will lose their deposits as a result of hadfork (inevitable appearance of invalid blocks under validator's approved block will trigger slashing conditions for them).

17  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Easy Way to protect funds from lack of replay protection in comiong fork on: November 03, 2017, 11:39:03 AM
As I see it, I can easily protect my assets from lack of replay protection is by performing transaction  of all my funds located on one of the chains to some wallet I control, then wait until it gets confirmed by that chain and make sure it wasn't confirmed by the other chain. This way replay of any following transactions of my funds on either chains won't be valid for both chains.

Or am I missing something here?
18  Economy / Exchanges / Why Exchanges Won't Publish Cold Wallet Address to Prove Solvency on: November 01, 2017, 08:35:05 PM
I wonder Why it is that only fraction of exchanges openly publish their CW address as a proof of solvency (like Bitfinex does https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/address/3D2oetdNuZUqQHPJmcMDDHYoqkyNVsFk9r)?

Isn't it fairly easy to track Cold Wallets of a big exchange (like Bittrex) to peak if they are solvent?
Why on earth it is not a common requirement for every single regulated (and non-regulated) exchange? Or am I missing something here?
19  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Have Transaction Malleability been solved with segwit? on: November 01, 2017, 08:27:50 PM
Hello, I was reading about transaction malleability and wondering if segwit solved it?
As far as my understanding of transactions in block goes, segwit's main purpose was to move signature to the different place in transaction hierarchy (from inputs section to whole new section). That effectively means that transaction ID represented by hash of transaction inputs+outputs+signature can't be tampered with anymore.

Do I get it correctly?

Thanks!

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What is Ethereum Plasma in Layman's Terms? on: October 27, 2017, 11:42:13 AM
Okay so I was stuck reading about recently announced Ethereum Plasma but can't quite grasp the idea.

From what I understood Ethereum seeks to implement Map Reduce (I still not fully understand what it is) methods to outsource execution of smart contracts to as many nodes as possible (like it's done in clusters - 1 node will be in charge and distribute small tasks to many other nodes and upon execution, result will be bublished by that node). However it's not very apparent for me how this will make network faster and trustworthy?

Could someone with in-depth understanding of Plasma Whitepaper explain it in Layman's Terms for less technically advanced people like me?

Thanks!
