42  Bitcoin / Hardware / KNC Arctic Cloud Mining BS - Are you having a laugh? on: September 03, 2014, 07:55:43 AM
1995 USD for 1 TH/s (6 months) ≈ 1.99 USD/GHs
(≈333 USD if calculated as a monthly expense)

At current rates 1TH can hardly pull in more than $9 usd a day...at the time when a depreciating asset should earn the most (i.e. the start of the contract - lets face it this is what it really is) it would not even cover the monthly cost i.e. $333 usd.

What the email said:

We're open for business.

Today we’re proud to publicly announce the opening of our new cloud hashing system KnCCloud.com, delivered from our Clear Sky mining farms in the polar region.

Now that we’ve delivered most of our 20nm Neptune Bitcoin Miners we’ve got overcapacity from the expired ”Plan B - Hash While You Wait” offers. These were all delivered from our 7+PH/s Clear Sky mining farm in the north of Sweden. Now for a limited time we’re selling that overcapacity in packaged online mining contracts.

This is powerful Bitcoin mining made easy.

Our farms are naturally cooled by the surrounding arctic air and exclusively powered by renewable energy. Our miners and workers enjoy a clear sky view as we keep our hangar doors open for natural circulation.

What the email should have said:

We're open for business. Is your asshole?

Today we have the unbridled audacity to publicly announce the opening of our new cloud hashing bum juicing system KnCCloudWeWantUrFIAT.com, delivered from our Pie in the Sky mining farms in the polar region. So break out the KY Jelly and don't forget the sun screen.

Now that we’ve finally delivered most of our 20nm Neptune Bitcoin Miners, after mining the fuck out of them, we’ve got overcapacity from the expired ”Plan B - Wash Your Dough While You Wait” offers. These were all delivered from our 7+PH/s Pie in the Sky mining farm in the north of ButtsFuckVille, Sweden. Now Run muthafuck! Run muthafuck! Bust out those TT transfers and illegally earned monies you have been waiting to launder, this shit won't be here next week...ok maybe it will for the next couple of months a limited time we’re selling that overpricedcapacity in packaged online crap we are calling Negative ROI mining contracts.

This is powerful Buttfuck mining made easy. So if you are a drug dealer, international money launderer operating out of the Bahamas or just some online fool who has been dreaming about negative 25-40% ROI opportunity, dream no longer! We are here to pull open those tightly clenched butt cheeks  Cheesy

Our farms are naturally cooled by the surrounding arctic air and the ice in our hearts, exclusively powered by renewable energy and funded with your money. Our miners and workers enjoy a clear sky and have a good laugh at all the kind people who were willing to subsidize our mining operation. Of course we keep our hangar doors open for natural circulation and in the off chance we have to escape in the KNCmobile.

45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Darkcoin [DRK] Is it really being used to buy things? on: August 17, 2014, 12:35:11 PM
My question is that DRK being anonymous, it would seem a good choice for buying and selling merchandise on the internet. Especially for people who care about privacy. Is this the case? Which of these anon altcoins has the highest volume being attributed to real purchases and not just speculation?

The first step would be to see which of the alternative auction sites are actually using the coin...

51  Economy / Computer hardware / [IN-STOCK] ATX to LED Switcher PSU Cable 1 meter [$6 usd] on: June 05, 2014, 12:39:52 PM
The "Goodney" ATX 5V to LED Switcher PSU Cable 1 meter

Specifications
Length: 1 m
Wire thickness: 18 gauge
Connector A: ATX
Connector B: ring lug connectors
Weight: 160 grams

Background
This cable was manufactured based on a guide by Goodney. If you want make your own one then you can find the step by step instructions here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=528371.msg6235766#msg6235766

For those people who are not so technically inclined then you can purchase one on this thread or from https://www.eyeboot.com

It was designed and created so that a simple 60A 5V LED switcher power supply (like the one in the picture below) could be used to power the Eyeboot 49 Port USB hub and thus the cable only uses the 5V pins on the ATX. The benefit of using this to power the hub is simply because Meanwell PSUs are so cheap and can supply in excess of 1 - 1.5 Amps of power to each port on the hub.

Meanwell LED 5V Switch Power Supply

Eyeboot 49 Port USB Hub

The cable has been tested successfully with the Eyeboot 49 port hub so I know it can be used safely with that hub. However I have no idea how it will react with other 5V devices so be warned. I am not responsible if it melts your substandard hub that is not capable of taking such a large amount of power.

It uses pins 3,4,5,6,7,15,17,18,19,21,22,23 and 24 on the ATX head.

Eyeboot 49 Port 1Amp 5V USB 2.0 Hub

Supports 220/110 voltage PSU

*** PROPERLY supports Bi-Fury 4+ Ghs USB miners***
Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

This is a 49 port hub that is capable of reliably supplying 0.5 - 1A per port without overheating or becoming a fire hazard. Professional USB hubs for professional bitcoin and litecoin miners. Comes in good packaging with 10 ft usb cable. Power supply unit is not included. Has over voltage and over current recover functions for protection and to prevent damage.

Specifications

- 24P ATX Power Supply (not included)
- Uses power from the 5V rail
- Supports 110 – 230 volts
- 49 Front facing Standard A USB ports
- All 49 ports support 480M Full Speed
- 1 side facing USB Male A port for connecting to computer
- 0.5 – 1A per port
- USB 2.0 standard
- 36 mm distance per port
- MTT framework to achieve MAX power output
- Supports low speed and high speed data transmission depending on need
- Power LED to show when off or on
- Colour: Yellow
- Hub runs cool

Dimensions
35cm x 20cm x 3.5 cm

Weight
1.5 kg

Unlike cheaper USB ports that only implement links at USB 1.0 standard (12mb/s speeds but state they are 'compatible' with USB 2.0) this is a professional FULL 480 Mb/s port that complies and implements the full 2.0 USB standard. It may also be used to connect to generic USB 1.0 equipment.

The good thing about these hubs is that you can load them up with 49 Bi-Fury miners (around 245 gh/s) and the miners would STILL run as intended. The Hub runs cool but the miners you put in will not, so make sure you use lots of fans to cool them.

2. Normal Airmail with tracking number (5-14 days) : $30 usd (each additional item +$20 usd)

The time it takes for normal airmail really depends. I have seen it as fast as 4 says to places like USA. Right now isn't a busy time so they should be no delays. I have regular shipments going to the post office Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday

COM-PORT Clean Up Trick, by Nemo1024

1. Launch cmd.exe
2. Then run the folloing in the command window:
Code:
                                   set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1

3. Next launch device manager from the same window by executing
Code:
                                   devmgmt

4. Finally, in the Device Manager check View->Show hidden devices
5. Clean-up time. Expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and delete (hit 'Del' key and confirm with enter) all devices with greyed-out icon (this section will contain your hubs).
6. Do not delete driver software (leave the checkbox in the prompt unmarked)
7. Repeat for "Universal Serial Bus devices"
8. And finally for "Ports (COM & LPT)"

Optionally go through the other sections and delete greyed out devices: your Windows will be more stable and start faster. Don't worry, if you plug a device at a later point, it will get re-added to the list.

9. Now, plug in all your hubs (without the USB devices) in the topology you wish to use. Wait for them to be initialised.
10. Then plug your devices.
11. Enjoy cleaner and more stable Windows.  Grin Grin Grin

In the spirit openness and transparency please post your tx-id and the quantity you want in the thread. I will close the group buy once we hit the 1000 units mark or in 7 days which ever is faster. Then i will contact Gridseed immediately with payment and order details. A guy who works there is my friend and they already know that i am making this big order and are expecting it so i expect things to run smoothly. Sorry i will not be taking small 10-20 piece orders.

I will provide commercial invoices to minimise customs delays, etc. I have professional logistics experts working with me to ensure that items leave China as they are intended to!!!

57  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Which bitcoin wallet is the best? on: February 18, 2014, 07:56:40 AM
I was wondering out of the four wallets listed on www.bitcoin.org, which is the best?

1. Bitcoin-Qt
2. Multibit
3. Armory
4. Electrum

I personally have always used bitcoin-Qt but it is very safe as long as you encrypt and password protect your wallet. Newbies should do this as soon as you download your first wallet. However one drawback is it takes forever to download the whole blockchain first time around. I have now tried Multibit and i have to say i am really impressed. Super fast install and straight from the get go you have a working wallet. No need to download blackchain or any of that.

Opinions?

Your deposit will be credited in few minutes after 3 confirmations on the Bitcoin network.
Transaction confirmation on the Bitcoin network can take from 1 hour and up to 3 days if you send it without fee.
Address can be used for further deposits.
We do not support generated transactions from pools like Eligius, P2Pool etc.

3 confirmations? It has been 15 confirmations and counting.
