1  Economy / Service Discussion / Warning about CEX.io ghash.io on: April 09, 2015, 08:12:06 AM
Just thought I'd both share this and (hope they are reading this an do something)

I have an account with cex.io / ghash.io

I have bitcoins in my account.

I smartly set up 2 step verification.

All good yes?
One of the problems with 2 step verification (using the phone app) is that if you swap, lose, or simply upgrade the software on your phone or anything that means you need to re-install the authenticatior app You need to access your account to set it up again. The problem with cex is there is no way to access your account without the authenticator. All my emails to CEX.io have been ignored (to the point where I have no idea if they are receiving them... and of cause it is impossible to submit a ticket without first logging in.

anyway... my experience with cex, enjoy Roll Eyes
2  Bitcoin / Hardware / Is Avalon Dead? on: June 24, 2014, 06:26:32 PM
I made the mistake of buying 3 Avalon 290 single modules.
I have struggled to get them connected... and failed.
One thing I've noticed is nobody wants to offer assistance or give advice.
Now the avalon-asic.com website is offline.
There has been no activity in their support irc channel for days (since I have joined)

So much question is.. is Avalon dead... are my modules useless?

3  Bitcoin / Mining support / Avalon3 single module issues on: June 20, 2014, 03:37:07 PM
(just to explain the why... I started mining a few years ago with my basic computer that sat dormant a lot.. I spent some, lost some (mtgox et al) recently I logged in and found a few bitcoins)
so I bought 3 avalon3 single modules, a usb hub and a raspberry pi... direct from avalon plus 3 x 650w hx psu's

so far I've just tried to connect 2 of the modules to my windows 8 desktop (as I'm also new to raspberry)..
I have used zadig to install WinUSB to USB-Serial Controller D (this is the usb device that shows then goes when I insert and remove the usb cable) after I have installed WinUSB I no longer get the error in cgminer telling me to install WinUSB.

I have tried using cgminer and bfgminer neither can see the  modules.

The modules are LOUD... once I get it to work I'll see what can be done.

I've tried two modules separately (not linked/chained) and 2 controlling boards with the same results all combinations.

I am stumped.

Thanks

5  Other / Beginners & Help / Bitcoin QT permanently Out of Sync on: May 26, 2013, 10:27:04 AM
My bitcoin qt wallet.. that has, through various incarnations, worked fine for a long time.

Then all of a sudden it became (out of sync).
I waited... and waited... but it stayed out of sync
I have reinstalled it
I have deleted the block chains... (+16GB at one time!)
I have deleted everything (except my wallet Wink)
I have tried turn off all running processes (within reason) and just leave it running.
It has firewall access on a good speed network.
Hard Drive space is running out (I have 4 fixed and a sml portable attached.. lowest has only 2.26GB left.. with C drive having 6.2GB remaining)

It currently takes up 5.79* on the hard drive with   ~12121 blocks remaining   ... (I believe it should take about 7.5 fully done). *[C:\Users\Me\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin]...
Just restarted it... it jumped to   ~20123 blocks remaining

It still remains out of sync... this has been going on for about 6 months now...

Last Block chain deletion was 3 days ago... after a block chain deletion/re-installation etc.. it seems to synchronize with network normally, the block chain remaining counter goes down as expected... then it just grinds to a halt... or so slow that it appears that way.

Win 8 x64

Please any suggestions.
