1  Bitcoin / Pools / Question for Pool owners/operators and a call for volunteers... on: October 30, 2013, 09:57:06 AM
Yes I know... volunteer is like a four letter word right... but I want to be upfront and honest... maybe tweak some interest into actually reading this...

Pool owners/operators:
I am looking to start a small pool and wondering what others are using, as I have seen the following which is not complete but could apparently do the job (quite nicely with some work) from what I read...

What I am really looking for is probably not available, more of a turnkey solution to start a small pool potentially private pool but having shares.

Volunteers:
If you are not a pool operator/owner and you are reading this, guess what, TAG YOU'RE IT!

Anyone interested in assisting in trying to set this up, I got a server and IP addresses and would like to setup a pool with minimal fees (if any) and as mentioned above for now I would look at it being private to avoid painting the Target logo on my server.

TO ALL:
Thank you for reading and this is a pet project I would like to do so there is no great rush to cash in as I do not expect to make money out of it and besides it would take time to earn respect and trust. Just seeing some of the pools I have joined at some point get hammered or close (50BTC and ABCPOOL in particular) I would like to provide a pool as a hobby/pet project so people will trust it, I am also looking at starting to sell online goods and services for BTC, but all this is still far up the pipeline ready to be flushed out so to speak...

My problem is I am a late comer to the BTC mining and it is a hard slog playing catchup, after all I only push out a few Ghps and I know many others also have the same output give or take a few Ghps.

There are also issues of some of the exploits and tricks some people employ to better their odds or to simply exploit or steal from others to outright DDOS that would need to be considered, hence I only want to start as a private pool but later depending on conditions, maybe, just maybe, go public.

Either reply here or PM me, any feedback, advice is appreciated.

I realise I will attract some who will say, 'just don't do it', but I see a challenge in it and that is the motivation as I know I can provide a pool and as it is not a goal to be a source of income for me then I can not see why it can not be successful.

Thank you in advance.
