2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How was your 2017 tax return experience? (US Only) on: April 11, 2018, 03:24:07 AM
I started mining altcoins in June of 2017 with a couple of gpus and have worked my way up to about 25 gpus and 700 Mh/s on Ethash. (Nothing major)
I basically mined Ethash coins and have been hodling and exchanging for other promising looking coins.

My power bill increased by $250-$300 per month x 6 months.
My mining rigs had to have cost me between $8K-$10K all said and done.
I'm hodling some ETC, EXP, XLM, XRP, UBIQ, PIRL, ELLA, DBIX, RVN and some shit coins.

Right now I'm having anxiety trying to get my taxes "won", nobody (CPA's) around here have any clue regarding crypto and taxes..
I'm going to have to file an extension until I find someone to complete my taxes; normally I would figure this out on my own but I need to take advantage of every opportunity so that I'm better prepared next year.

So any advice or experience you guys can share would be greatly appreciated.
If you know someone experienced in the Seattle area that would be cool too.

Thanks in advance.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / I need some Altcoin trading/selling advice/guidance, please. on: December 23, 2017, 09:30:58 PM
Guys/Gals,

I've been mining crypto for about 7 months or so and have generally been hodling.

I generally mine PIRL, ETC, SIA and a couple others and buy some BTC, XRP, XLM, ARK, REP, DOGE, etc.

As some of the altcoin prices have skyrocketed vs the USD I have been confused how and when to sell them.
My main goal is for USD profit while attaining some BTC when I can.

So how should I go about this? I was under the misconception of selling ETC when it hit $45 for BTC, but, BTC was up as well and got to thinking this was a bad idea..

Please help this trading/selling noob understand this in laymans terms.

How can I sell something that rises vs the USD, and hold until BTC drops etc?

Thank you in advance.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What to set pool difficulty to? on: October 24, 2017, 01:32:47 PM
Hello,

Long time lurker, finally decided to register and pose a question.

A couple of friends and I have created our own pools and have been mining (ETC) fairly successful for the last couple months.
Our payouts have doubled the various payout calculators on the net.

With the difficulty dropping and the network difficulty dropping I was hoping we would be finding more blocks, but that hasn't been the case.

So the question is what do we set our pool difficulty to give us a better chance of solving and finding blocks?
Our pool is based on open-ethereum-pool and I believe our current pool difficulty is et at 2,000,000.

On our ETC and ETH pool we average 500 - 800 MH/s.
We've found 46 ETC blocks since 8/24.
And we just started up our ETH pool since the latest drop in difficulty.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
