2  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Delete addresses in bitcoin qt(sortof) on: June 07, 2013, 11:55:37 AM
I propose that a delete function be added to the "receive coin" section of bitcoin-qt.

However this function will only, move the public, private key pair into a different section of the client. This section should be labelled "junk". At any point in time, a user can go to the junk section, select a public, private key pair and "reinstate" the junked keys. Which will more the public/private key pair back to the receive coin section.

This helps me organize my addresses since most addresses are only used once.
3  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / bitcoin-qt transaction fees. on: June 06, 2013, 03:49:24 PM
The typical transaction fees is 0.0005BTC. However, there are exceptions which include priority and the size of the transaction. The behaviour of the exceptions are confusing people.

I propose that transaction fees be constant with no exceptions.

If fees are constant the implementation and the users mental model will be simple. The user's mental mode is made simple by eliminating unexpected behaviour such as large transaction sizes causing a change in transaction fees.

The downside, is that the total amount of transaction fees paid will be reduced. But I would argue that, total transaction fees would stay stable, because the the exempted transactions and transactions that carry large fees will even each other out.
4  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Fees for full nodes? on: June 04, 2013, 05:55:37 AM
Is it important to have a huge number of full nodes?

If so, should a reward be provided for people running full nodes (a portion of the transaction fees)?

I think the answer for both cases is yes, because people running full nodes are contributing to the overall security of the network, much in the same ways as miners. They bear a cost in terms of hard disk space, electricity and internet connection and thus should be properly rewarded.

Another way to think of it, is that this proposal helps to soften the effect of a mining monopoly. By giving rewards to both miners and full node owners we would not longer have a single point of failure for the distribution of bitcoin into the circulation.

Another plus is that, everyone will be able to participate. If everyone is able to obtain bitcoins themselves, they are able to use it for trades. Thus increasing the value of bitcoins as a medium of exchange.

Discuss.
