1  Other / Off-topic / I'm on a mission on: March 05, 2013, 05:32:02 PM
Me and a couple of friends are dreaming about visiting Japan after we've finished college (1.5 years left for 2 of us, 2.5 for 1). I was thinking it would be awesome if I could pay for the trip, or at least the flight tickets, with bitcoin (not necessarily directly, but you get it, I'll exchange to USD to buy). Currently cheapest roundtrip flight tickets from Stockholm, Sweden to Tokyo, Japan in June and back in July is about USD1100.

So what I need is a plan on how to successfully do this. I've been selling some stuff I got but that wont really get me anywhere because I'm already out of stuff that's worth selling. I've thought of starting some sort of company selling domains and web services for bitcoins but now that namecheap accepts bitcoins there is no point to that, I don't think I would be able to compete with them (not to mention the investment you need to start a company).

What do you think? Ideas? Do you think I will make it or not? I got about 2.5 years to complete this mission haha

So far, I got about $320 worth of bitcoins from selling stuff and mining. I do have other savings too but it feels like a bad idea to burn all that right after college instead of saving them and use them for rent etc.

Push button: 0.01BTC
Shapelock 0.3BTC
Power supply (Europlug, various voltages, 5V @ 2.5A, 9V @ 1.7A) 0.5BTC

Shipping:
Worldwide: 0.278 BTC (Small padded envelope - 210 x 145mm up to 2kg)
Worldwide: 0.462 BTC (Medium padded envelope - 250 x 200 mm up to 2kg)
Worldwide: 0.892 BTC (Large padded envelope - 350 x 250mm 2kg)

If you live in Sweden I could ship it much cheaper.

I don't think everything will fit in a single small envelope, maybe the larger ones.

I once made an RFID door lock using this, but due to poor coding and lack of interest I took it down because I didn't feel secure lol.
4  Economy / Services / Cheap IRC bouncers on: February 17, 2013, 05:33:09 PM
I am running a small personal server to remain connected to various IRC networks I am on, but I figured I could offer accounts to others as well, if anyones interested.

An IRC bouncer is a way to keep you connected 24/7 to a network. This makes it possible for others to still send you messages while you are away, you get a buffer playback when you connect so you know what people are talking about, and you can be logged in to same nick from multiple computers as well. It also hides your IP-address from the network as you'll be connecting from my server. SSL is enabled.

$1.5/month, or $8/year (worth of bitcoins)
5  Economy / Gambling / BitPoint - Unique point buying game on: February 03, 2013, 01:37:06 PM
Hello,

For some time I've been working on a small project of mine - a simple and (hopefully) unique game. Let me present you BitPoint
How it works
You start of by buying a point in the field (by clicking anywhere). Each point costs a small amount of BTC (the cost per next point increases for each point, if first point costs 0.005btc, next point will cost 0.005+0.005btc). The bitcoins from each point is added to the jackpot. Each day at midnight UTC a random point is selected on the field with a certain radius. Every point inside this radius is a winner and will split 70% of the jackpot amongst them. 20% of the jackpot goes to the next round and 10% to me (the jackpot number on the frontpage already takes this into account and that is the actual amount that will be split!). If no one wins, 100% of the jackpot goes to the next round.

Please note
I can't take responsibility for lost bitcoins but I will try to work something out if something goes wrong, except if you accidentally sent to wrong address, I can't do anything about that. Please make sure you send to the correct address listed after you confirm the points and to send the correct amount. If you happen to send the wrong amount or to send to an old bitpoint address (an address is unique to every purchase), it will be logged in a table, but you'll have to contact me to get the refund.

Points are confirmed once 2 confirmations is in on the transaction. If you don't pay for the points within 2 days the order will be removed. Please don't try to send a payment to the address after this.

There might be bugs with it, if you find anything please contact me either here on the forum or on the email listed on the about page. Include relevant stuff, like transaction hash for missed payments or what you did when it bugged out etc.

Current settings
Fieldsize: 960x500
Point cost: 0.005+previous point cost for next point. Example: 0.005 + 0.01 + 0.015 if you buy 3 points.
Winner point radius: 25+125*2^(-0.08x)px where x is number of points
Round time: 1 day, ends at midnight UTC
Jackpot split: 70% to winners, 20% to next round, 10% to me (galaxyAbstractor).

I need feedback on this about stuff that isn't working, what might need to be changed and such. I made this mainly for fun and to learn, so don't expect some serious large winnings Tongue.

Who am I
I am galaxyAbstractor, a computer science university student from Sweden. I like to code and game with friends, and I mostly spend my days at the computer (wow I suck at introductions, this sounds so generic lol). I've been interested in bitcoins for a while, I found it a couple of weeks after it's released but removed it as I didn't understand it at the time (I'm an huge idiot Cry). When I found it again in 2011 I was obviously angry about removing it the first time, but oh well who would have known. I used it for a while but got bored once bitcoin crashed down to $3 or something and recently got interested again. I don't really know what more to say. Also, I'm not a good designer, the site design started out decent but went a bit downwards after a while

7  Economy / Goods / Steelseries Siberia v2 green on: January 28, 2013, 02:37:24 AM
I got a new headset this Christmas so I don't need my old ones. Anyone interested? Would be best if you live in Sweden tho, shipping outside of Sweden is quite expensive (I think it would be 4BTC or something like that for the package...). Otherwise I'll just sell them on a normal auction site Tongue
8  Economy / Goods / [WTS] 10 1 gram .999 silver bitcoin coins on: January 26, 2013, 01:50:58 PM
Hello. I bought 10 of these: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=23256.0 (type 2) some year ago, but now I'm selling them as I don't really have a need for them Tongue. 2BTC or highest bidder so I can recoup what I spent when buying them.

Shipping will be 0.5BTC internationally if you want me to send in a padded envelope, or 0.11BTC if normal envelope is good enough for you. (This is international shipping, if you live in Sweden it's cheaper.(
9  Economy / Goods / [Selling] Pocky on: August 31, 2011, 05:16:10 PM
Hey, I'm selling Pocky, a sort of Japanese candy which consists of a biscuit stick covered in various flavors (most common chocolate though). I can send you these flavors: Chocolate, Strawberry and Milk. Price per box would be about $2/each, so about 0.24BTC at the current rate.

I can ship them internationally, but it would cost about $6.33 to ship one pack to the US, 0.75BTC at current rate. Shipping inside Sweden would probably be a bit cheaper. If you wanna buy, state how many packs and what country before buying so I can check correct shipping price

Drugs may be new net currency fall

July 24, 2011 at 11:51, Updated: 24 July 2011 at 14:55

A new currency is emerging on the Internet. Net currency Bitcoin traded without middlemen and fees and expected by users challenge current banking system. But U.S. politicians now want to prohibit Bitcoin when they suspect that the anonymous and highly encrypted currency used by drug dealers.
Netdrugexpert Cecilia Fant of the Criminal Investigation Department says that a similar ban may be the case also in Sweden.

I haven't seen any English sources reporting on this though?

13  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / [Firefox Addon] FireCoin on: June 18, 2011, 09:24:14 PM
I made an addon for firefox which makes it easy for you to send bitcoins to users. Site owners can put their address as a meta tag on their page and the addon will automatically detect it.

It is also possible to select and right-click addresses to donate to.

Here is the link to the addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/firecoin/. I have released it under BSD, and the source can be found at: https://github.com/galaxyAbstractor/FireCoin

If you like this addon, please donate to me at 1KHTs795SKBd2yBfdfpf4BxArEq5RGrNZo (also good opportunity to test the addon Wink)

Please post suggestions and issues in this thread, so I can work on them Tongue.

As of version 1.1, http://btc.to support has been added. Now you can provide your addresses and send to them in a shortened form.

You can get 1.1 from: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/firecoin/versions/?page=1#version-1.1

----

What it does
=======
The plugin lets you discover bitcoin addresses provided by the site owner in the header section. When the toolbar button lights up, a bitcoin address has been provided
and you can press the button to donate.

It also lets you select bitcoin addresses on pages, right-click on them and choose "Send Bitcoins". This makes it easy to send payments without opening the client.

How To Use
=======
After install, make sure that the toolbarbutton is placed in a toolbar. Then, make sure you read this guide:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Running_Bitcoin#Bitcoin.conf_Configuration_File

You need to make sure BitCoin is running as a server by putting these options to your bitcoin.conf file:
server=1
rpcuser=*Desired username*
rpcpassword=*Desired secure password*

Some things to note:
The addon will not show any transaction fees, but these will be paid automatically by the JSON-RPC API. So if you send 0.01BTC to someone, be aware that
it might cost 0.02BTC total.

There is an option on every transaction to pay 5% extra to me. This will only be paid if you check the checkbox (disabled by default) "Donate 5% to addon author?", never anything else.

You will have to authenticate to the JSON-RPC API once every browser session for security, but you will have the option to save the credentials with the firefox login manager.

For site owners or developers!
=======
Bitcoinaddress detection works with meta tags in the header. They are named bitcoin, bitcoinmsg and bitcointhanks.

To add your address to a page, add this to the <head> section of your HTML:
<meta name="bitcoin" content="1KHTs795SKBd2yBfdfpf4BxArEq5RGrNZo"/>
change your address accordingly

You also have an option to leave a message to the donater, which is shown before donating:
<meta name="bitcoinmsg" content="With your donation, I will be able to keep the site running longer!"/>

The last meta is bitcointhanks, which should hold an URL to a thanks page, like this:
<meta name="bitcointhanks" content="http://pixomania.net"/>

Only the first meta is required, the rest is optional

14  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Selling simple webdesign service on: June 14, 2011, 04:22:43 PM
Need a simple but yet good-looking design for your newly-started site, but can't afford to pay thousands for a real professional to create it? I'm here to the rescue! I am still a student learning, and I need some real-world experience (and doing designs without a purpose is boring  Sad), so I would like to create a design for you, you will get a cheap yet decent design and I will learn, so we both win on it.

I will work at 0.5 BTC/hour. You may chose what I should do, create a wireframe, design and code from details you give me, create a design and code from a wireframe and some details, or just code the design, you get the idea. Also, you will only need to pay me if you like the design. If you don't like it, you don't have to pay, I still got some experience and a goal (but obviously you can't have the final design if you don't pay  Wink)
15  Other / Obsolete (selling) / [GAME] Portal 1 on: June 05, 2011, 04:55:30 PM
I got a gift code for Portal 1 on Steam. I am selling it for 0.6BTC if anyones interested
16  Other / Obsolete (selling) / PSP 1004 for sale on: June 05, 2011, 12:16:17 PM
I am selling my PSP, as I never use it. It is a model PSP 1004. It has been flashed with 5.00 M33-6, meaning you can run custom applications, downloaded games and PS1 games on it.

What's included:
PSP 1004 Black
1 game - Burnout Legends
The case that followed in the package (made of fabric or something)
Charger
USB+Charger
Sandisk 2GB M2 Memory Card
Sandisk M2 -> Memory Stick Duo adapter
1800mAh Battery pack (the one that came with the system)
Manual, headphones, box (if I can find it)

Screen has no scratches and the system looks almost new. The battery lid (the one that covers the battery that comes of when changing the battery) has a small crack on the side, but it's not a big deal.

I will start by asking about $70 worth of BTC for this, or highest bid. Buyer have to pay shipping from Sweden to his/her place (I think it's about 40SEK ($6.5) but that would be in a special envelope with the inside covered in bubblewrap, and then I can't send you the box. I haven't looked up other methods yet).

17  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Firefox addon on: June 02, 2011, 01:48:50 PM
I am currently creating a firefox addon which you should be able to easily donate bitcoins to site owners that provides bitcoin address. I have encountered some obstacles though:

1. How would I send the JSON-RPC calls in javascript? Send an HTTP POST request to the port on localhost?

2. How do I explain to the user that he needs to put an autostart command to start bitcoin as a server? Is it even possible to run both a client and a server at the same time? The addon should be easy to use for everyone, and explaining to them how they have to do a .bat file with some random code and place it in the autostart folder, how would that be easy?
18  Other / Obsolete (selling) / [GAME] Terraria on: May 19, 2011, 07:24:57 PM
I have one extra keys for Terraria on Steam that I am selling for 0.9BTC

More info about the game: http://pixomania.net/games/terraria
19  Other / Obsolete (selling) / 2 .net domains (jagf.net and datashelf.net) on: May 15, 2011, 10:57:32 AM
I'm selling:

jagf.net expires 2011/12/04
datashelf.net expires 2011/12/14

Name your price Tongue
20  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Old computer parts on: May 14, 2011, 06:37:15 PM
I am selling old computer parts:

4x1GB Corsair XMS2 Xtreme 1GB DDR2 800MHz RAM
DVD-burner: OPT AD-7170S-0B 18x SATA
GPU: Palit PCIe 8600GT Super 512MB DDR3 DVI
Mobo: ASUS S775 IP35 DDR2 SATA GBLAN HD 8CH
CPU: Intel E6850 CORE2D 3GHz S775
PSU: Some random 520W one (I don't know the model)
Case: Miditower Aspire X- EXPL black

There is no guarantee that everything works as it should. The computer used to get BSoDs from time to time but I never checked into the reason. The computer is pretty much taken apart too, and no fans as I use them in my current computer. You can buy the parts separately. You would have to pay for shipping (from Sweden), I would guess the RAM and CPU would be pretty cheap to send with normal mail. The rest, especially the case might be a bit troublesome and cost more. Name your price on what you want.

There is no guarantees the parts work correctly, and there will be no refund if they aren't.
